Copics bleeding?

Is Brilliance ink the only kind that won't bleed with the Copic markers? I tried the StazOn ink, it bled... I tried the Noir black inkpad, it bled... I don't have the black brilliance inkpad but I do have a few in other colors and tested them. It worked without bleeding. Why is that?

I use the Ranger Adirondack inks (either Pitch Black or Espresso) with Copics and have never had it bleed.

The StazOn will bleed, Palatte will work if you heat set it. I just use Brilliance.

I've tried all the black inks with my copics...Adirondack Pitch Black is definitely the best for non-bleeding. Brilliance Graphite Black works well too, but it's not a dark enough black for me, so I prefer the Adirondack. Versafine Onyx Black (my favorite black) shows slight bleeding, as did India Ink Black and Ranger Archival Jet Black. So - I'm sticking with the Pitch Black - and of course Adirondack Espresso.

If you use the Brillance Graphite black, you'll need to heat set it first (from my experience with it). I use that and Adirondack Pitch black the most.

I've only use the Palette Hybrid Noir and it never bleeds. I also do not heat set it either. Maybe it is the paper you are using?

Oh My ... I'll have to cry. lol I just ordered the Palette Noir TODAY to use with my copics and now most of you recommend the Adirondack instead. How many black pads do I need ... lol

Stazon bleeds because it is also an alcohol ink. I use Black Brilliance Graphite and I know there are several others that work well.

Palette Noir is still my "go-to" pad for watercoloring & Prismacolors with Odorless Mineral Spirits. Don't despair!

Thank you SO MUCH Sherrie for the video tutorial! It's one thing to 'read' about how to use them, and another to see them in action. I do have a 'bleeding' question...but it's not related to what kind of ink the image is stamped with. Instead...is it 'expected' to have the ink bleed through the paper? I always mat my images anyway, but just want to be sure that I'm not using too much when coloring.

I've got Palette Nior Black and haven't had much problems with bleeding - and I never heat set it. Also, black VersaColor worked - but that I had to heat set.

I hear ya', sister! I think black ink pads could be like black shoes....

I have been have trouble with Stickles and black ink. Any suggestions for this bleeding issue?

Don't despair about ordering the Palette. It is the absolute best for use with acrylic stamps!

When I had my Copic training, the representative from corporate suggested we stamp and set it aside for a few minutes, just to let the ink set. We used Brilliance during our training, but I've been using Versafine since without any problems. Your paper will make a difference, too. I've been using GP white and it has been great. Copic also suggests Neenah Solar White. HTH!

Yes, these markers bleed through the thickest paper, you are not doing anything wrong. You pretty much have to anticipate needing to mat your image. When I try to do one layer cards, that's when I pull out my watercolors.

I have used Versafine without much problem either. I will either let it sit for a while to dry or heat set. I also have used a Memories black dye ink pad, which I seem to use for just about everything, and that works well too. I saw Jeanne Streiff say that she uses the Distress Black Soot with no problem. I definitely agree that black ink pads are like black shoes...I need to add a Palette and an Adirondack now, just to be sure! Thanks for all of the info!
