Default Ribbon Trend?

So now that I am using ribbon on 80% of my cards, do you think ribbon will go down the same path fibers did? Is it just a trend? What size ribbons do you find yourself using the most? Do you prefer a type of ribbon? I saw brown satin ribbon hanging out of the bowl of ribbon in the SU catalog that looks wonderful too!

I'm not really sure about this one... There are SO MANY types of ribbon, and can something so versatile really go out of style?! I hope not, or many of us will be left with closets of the outdated embellishments!!

I'm still a grossgrain fan, but it depends on the card. If I could have picked two, I would have gone with organdy, too.

Fibers just looked messy in my opinion, but I LOVE ribbon, there are so many different kinds for whatever the need may be.

 oops! I did pick two! And those were my two favorites...organdy is easier to tie for me!

I have to agree with CAcardcreatin' -- I hope it doesn't go out of style because I have boxes of overflowing ribbon. I'll probably get it organized when there is a new craze!

Ribbon rocks! If it goes out of style, then I'll just have to be out-dated, lol. I voted for patterned, but I love all 1/4 ribbon.

Thumbs up

I never really liked Fiber on cards. For me it just looked like someone slapped it on the card.

Not a look I liked!

But with ribbon with all the many different widths, and color's, patterns.

I don't think we will have to worry about the Ribbon going out of style for long while.

I could be wrong. But I think Ribbon looks really good on a card, Scrapbook page.

It give a cool Element to your card.

Oh I didn't vote. Cause I like using all different types of ribbon and widths.

I have seen some great pages with fibers on them but my own pages with fibers always looked just messy. I love, love ribbon. I hope it does not go away anytime soon. I think I am becoming a ribbon addict. I like to buy it but I do use it as much as I can (even on masculine cards). I see so much beautiful ribbon from those posting from the US. I am not that lucky to find such beautiful ribbon here in BC. Or maybe I don't want to pay more than a dollar a meter/yard. That does not go that far on a few cards. I have started buying from RABOM in the 100 yard spools.

I'm moving towards 5/8 inch but I have tons of 1/4 so I'll be using that for a while. I have ONE length of satin ribbon and its really nice. Almost all the rest is grosgrain. I only like simple patterns, stitched, some stripes. LOVE dots, I love dots in everything.

I couldn't vote in two things on your poll so I didn't vote. I don't want to hurt some of my ribbon's feelings.

I voted for the organdy but I also wanted to vote for size. About 3/8" is about right for me. As well, I do like the grossgrain.

[FONT="Trebuchet MS"]I've been stamping for over 20 years and have seen ribbon being used in card design for the whole time. The popularity of certain ways to embellish with ribbons have changed and evolved but bottom line ribbon will always be a creative option.

I LOVE ribbon and use it on almost every card I made (they feel naked without ribbon!).

I highly doubt it will ever go "out" but if it does I'll still keep using it as much as I do - I'll NEVER give up my ribbon!!

I love ribbon too and use it almost all the time on my cards and in my scrapbooks. I voted for organdy, did you know if you heat it up with a heat gun it will take on an antique look? Just don't heat it too much or it will melt.

I guess I didn't realize that it hasn't always been popular. I've been paper crafting for close to 10 year and I always remember ribbon being popular. Probably more so in the past 5 years. I'm with everyone else, I have enough ribbon to last a long time and I will keep using it. Doesn't Ribbons and Bows Oh My have their sale right now? Off to buy more!

I feel the same as AmyR. My cards just feel naked without it! I love it all, but find myself using grosgrain mostly (mainly because that is what SU! sells the most of-double stitched, striped, 1/4, and wide! ) I loved the satin they had out in the winter mini and love the new taffeta they brought out last summer.
I really think ribbon is here to stay.

I like the grosgrain, taffeta and the stitched in-color ribbons from SU. The taffeta is really easy to tie. I don't care for the organdy at all and I haven't really tried the wider stuff too much yet. I think ribbon will last a lot longer. Fibers were just too blah! I can't make a card without using ribbon.

I love all ribbon! I don't think it's a trend.

(Just wanted to point out that it's grosgrain, just one "s". It's pronounced GROW-grain. I didn't know at first, so I always try to pass that on.)

I think ribbon will be a timeless accessory. Eyelets & brads may come and go, but pretty grosgrains, satins, silks, and taffetas will be around forever!

And, she has the largest stash of ribbon this side of the western hemisphere to back it up! ;)

Also, I think the popularity of grossgrain ribbon will depend on just how gross it is? ;)

Kidding. I am kidding.:p

Ribbon will always be on trend, but sizes and patterns tend to follow the current trend just as colors come and go. But a world without ribbon--I think not! Never!! No way!!!

Ribbon is so versatile, I can't see it going the way of fibres... but you never know, I guess. :-)

Most of my ribbon is grosgrain - plain and patterned.

Yummmm, ribbon....how could a card be quite complete without it? I hope it never goes out. I love using it for color inspiration on my cards too.

Hmmm - IS ribbon a trend? I've been scrapbooking over a dozen years, and when no ribbon was available I was taught (at Great American Scrapbook Convention) to form and crimp paper to make ''mock ribbon'' instead.

Of course, we initially did not have/use stitched, striped, patterned or fancy edge ribbons - not sure if they were even available (or affordable) then. So I'm sure we will see different sizes and types of ribbon for years to come.

Something to look forward to!
