How do you change the name of a link?
I have figured out how to post a link to cards and things but I've seen folks change the name of the link to something descriptive, instead of using the actual URL. Can anyone tell me how this is done? Thanks!

Go to the page you want to link and copy the address onto your clipboard.
Return to the page where you want your reply. Select "Go Advanced"
Type in the words you want to see instead of the URL. Highlight them. Click on the chain link with the globe. Delete the http that appears in the box. Paste in your address. Hit OK. Submit your reply.

Thanks! I will try a test post. This sounds complicated but hopefully after I've done it once or twice I'll get the hang.

I must be dense but I can't locate "Go Advanced" - you would think it'd be part of the control panel on the left of my profile page but if it's there, I'm not seeing it!
Help!!

I just went into my profile and you get an option to Edit Signature. Click on that and then you get a screen that looks basically like you're typing a message. Just follow the same instructions that you do to change a link in a post.

I set up a link under my name for My Gallery. It used to work but now when I click on it, it brings up an error window that says the page cannot be displayed. I re-did the link following the instructions above and it still doesn't work. Is it just because I am trying to view my own gallery or does this happen if anyone clicks on "My Gallery"?

I got the same error you did. Maybe you should delete it all together and create a new one.

There - I figured it out. When I pasted my link into the box, the original http:// was still there, so I had two of them in the link which created the error. I think it is working now. Thanks for your help.

where the heck is this "Go Advanced" that you speak of???????
I want to link WORDS to urls in my posts and I have yet to figure it out. I've read through every post I can find on the subject but I cant find what they are talking about! I also can link a url in my signature, but when I try to change it to a few simple words, it says I cant due to some "BB" ????
HELP!!!!

This feature worked for me several months ago, but now when I click on the globe with chain link, my computer simply beeps at me, not letting me do anything. :(

Have you installed any security software recently or changed any settings on your browser? It sounds like your pop-ups are being blocked so you may want to check any security software you might have.

Okay, I've followed the instructions and where I've edited my signature, it shows it the way I like it after I save it. It's suppose to say My Evolving Gallery. But when I leave a comment or ask a question, it gives the URL version. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've deleted it and it still goes back to the long drawn out version. I go back in and try to edit it again and it looks correct. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does it change right away, which I'm thinking it should, or does it take a while for the changes to occur?

If you post in the gallery your old signature will appear because of your temporary files. your browser will clear that up when it refreshes it's cache.

I do not seem to have the "controls" needed to create links. I downloaded the Word file by LovinTX and see that there is a whole set of edit tools (font, size, justification, etc.) where the globe and chain should also be. I do not have any of those tools. (No wonder I could never find the elusive globe&chain icon, lol.) Is there something I need to do on my end to fix this? Or is it something on the SCS end that can be fixed? I also see under "posting rules" that my HTML code is OFF. Does that have anything to do with it?

If you don't see these "controls"...
...then you'll need to follow these steps:
(FYI: The icon for adding links is the Globe/link icon just below the smiley face.)
- Click on Quick Links; it's at the top of this thread, right-hand side
- A list will pop up; click on Edit Options
- Scroll alllllll the way to the bottom & you'll see a box called Miscellaneous Options and Message Editor Interface.
- Click on that bar with the two arrows which probably says Basic Editor....
- Scroll and click on the one that says Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing (WYSIWG = What you see is what you get ;) )
- Click Save changes which is at the very bottom.
- NOW you'll be able to see that lil' Earth and other extra features when you post.
I hope this helps!
