Someone stole my cards!

I'm so sad! My acupuncture doctor kindly lets me sell some of my cards in a basket in her office. FIVE of them were stolen!! She has a small office with a little bitty waiting room, so it was someone with some real nerve. I really could have used that $20 this month, too. Of course, my doctor feels terrible and wants to reimburse me, but I'm not going to let her, since it's not her fault. Now the cards are going to be right in her office on her husband's desk. Maybe that will work.

Thanks for letting me vent to people who can understand what it's like to have your hard work ripped off! I hope whoever receives my stolen cards enjoys them. Sheesh.

Oh man, that stinks! Sounds like your doctor is a sweet person and really feels badly about this happening in her office.

Hope whoever took them uses them in a positive way....

If they are not out front, will anyone see them and buy them? I hope say. I looked at your gallery and it is easy to see why people would want your cards. They really are nice.

Sorry this happened :( Stinks when you put so much time into something only to have someone walk off with it.

I too would wonder how much they would be seen if they were in her husbands office. Where were they in the office? Things that I would consider before you move them.....how long have they been there and how many have you sold?

Sad but true, no matter what type of "store" you are, there is almost always some kind of theft and that is usually worked into their markup. If you have had them there for quite some time, sold a bunch and have never had this happen before, I think I would put a little note about the "honor" sytem....especially if they are in an area where they are not being watched constantly. There is a little "bakery" the next town over that runs off the honor system. It is a small little house type thing (actually looks like a play house) where she displays all her baked goods. You deposit your payment into a locked box. She has a note about you being on "your honor" when you shop with her. She has had problems here and there but not many. Maybe that would be worth a shot?

Wow - you do great work!!! I'm really sorry your cards got stolen. That would make me really mad. Maybe they'll at least pass it on and make someone's day.

Again, I'm really very sorry.

I know how you feel. My friend has a LSS and I made a template of a handbag card for her to sell at a big papercraft show we have here each year. I also made a sample of how the card could look if you bought the template. Well someone must of liked it but couldn't be bothered buying the template and making their own, they stole my sample card right of the stall counter. Should we take this as a compliment ?

This is what I was going to say. I know it hurts but try to think of it as a
compliment. I hope you stamped your name on the back so she can't pass it off as hers.

Thanks, everyone, for your sympathy! I appreciate that and wanted to respond to some comments:

I think enough people will still see my cards since they have to go in the office to pay for their visit and get supplements.

In a twisted way, it is kind of a compliment that someone would like my cards enough to steal them. Guess they didn't like the ones they left behind! LOL!

Yes, my name is stamped on the back, but if someone is scummy enough to steal, they won't stop at covering it up.

It did occur to me that perhaps people thought they were free, but it's a stretch since the cards are in sealed plastic envelopes with the price sticker on the back. Plus, there is a sign on the basket that says "please make payment through Bonnie (the dr.)"

Oh well, I do feel a little better after reading all your comments. Surprisingly, I'm not stressing over it, probably because all along that little voice, aka my instinct, told me it might not be such a great idea. So, it's sort of my own fault for not listening to my gut, which always turns out to be right, darn it! LOL!

Oh Jessica, I am so sorry this happened to you. That is really crummy! I too would just try to take it as a compliment and remember Karma has a way of coming back to those people!

Bummer! Hopefully it was someone that just accidentally forgot and they'll remember to pay next time they visit.

Really sorry that happened to you. I looked at your blog and I just love that kitty card you made. You do great work. I can see the temptation to steal.

That is so rude. I had all of my Christmas cards stolen last year. They were all addressed and stamped and in the mailbox with the flag up and about an hour later the flag was down, the cards were gone and not one person got one of my cards that year. I really don't understand peoples motives sometimes. Grrrrr
