why you might ask would a person who loves to make cards buy cards? For the envelopes of course! christmas cards on sale 90% off. boxes of 18 cards/envies for .24 yes 24cents for 18 envelopes! had to be sure to get the right size some were bigger than the cards I make. I got 360 envelopes for 5.00! I would have gotten more but someone else was hoarding the boxes that were sized right. I asked if she was getting them fro the envies, thought I might meet another stamper! She just looked at me weird.

You go girl! Where in PA are you? I am in Parkesburg, work in Philly though.
Oh, I got some today for 90% off, but I plan on using the cards. I have decided to reduce the number of cards I make for Christmas. It is just too much. Those that I know appreciate the hand made card will continue to get them, but some of the people on my list could probably care less. My DH's college buddy, while a wonderful person, probably does not care if he gets a hand made card or one that I got at Target for 90% off. I'm hoping it will make next December less stressful.
But I do like the using the envelope idea. May have to go back and get more.

I did the same thing yesterday at Michaels . I think I got 12 boxes and the entire time I am questioning my thinking but the cards were blank and the envelopes included and I thought oh how cute can I make those.
When I get home from work, I look forward to getting all comfy on the couch and getting online to check email and the stampin' forums. I change into my "comfy clothes" and get situated....and then after reading posts about GREAT stuff on sale at Mike's or 30% OFF ReCollections or Target goodies -- I HAVE to go get dressed and venture out to SHOP for SUPPLIES!
Ohhhh the sickness of stampin!

boy pinkkimmy, don't we know it:p the worst thing is I feel compelled to get up early tomorrow and hit a different target. Now that is sick.
Target also had some Vintage Scrapbook Christmas cards I think they were called with lots of recyclable tags and vintage images, gold ribbon. Between that and the envelopes (and the 90 percent off) you can't go wrong.
Also found some mini gift tags (12 for $1) which make great little images for cards.
In the Christmas section at Wal-Mart I found these lovely little Christmas ornaments (45 cents) which are mini books (to be altered?). Just darling -- you can see them and the tags from Target here: http://kardkrazy.blogspot.com/2008/0...her-stuff
One year I happened to walk into Target a day or so after Easter and the card representative was there taking out cards. I asked her what they do with them as I taught Kindergarten at the time and had a mail center. She gave me over 100 envelopes to take back to school. I am still using them!!! at school, maybe I should bring them home!!! The trick is making a card that fits into the envie!
That's brilliant! Wish I had read this before I went to Target this afternoon!

Which location did you hit? The one near me is still 75% off. Thanks

Yes I got the last two boxes of the vintage also for the embellishments. thought I would tear it apart and recycle!

I actually took the boxes of cards to the stationary dept at the front of the store to measer the envies to make sure I got the size for the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 cards i make!
I was at Target last night (75% off still) but had to stop before I got to the cards! My little basket was full and I refuse to further the obsession by getting a cart! I did get some really cute red coasters to alter though; I may have to go back.......

I go to the one in Alpharetta at North Pointe Mall. I'm heading back there today, I had my kids with me yesterday and they did not allow much time to browse.

Great idea! And sometimes you can find cards that you can alter.... so you already have the card size that fits the envelope. Just add a layer or two! With the right adhesive no one would ever know!
You wouldn't believe what is underneath the cardstock layer on these cards!

This has me ROFL!!! The rationality only makes sense to another papercrafter. How cute!

Just another way to get cheap envelopes - there is a second hand store near me that puts out envelopes twice a year, and you buy them for ten cents each, minimum of 10 envelopes. That's a bargain I can't resist. I'm sure that lots of other second hand stores do similar things.

that's an awesome idea! another thing you can do if you can't find anywhere that would like em is to cut the fronts off of them and either use ur die cutter/cricut whatever and make tags out of them for your gifts. that's what a friend of ours is doing next year! just another thought if you can't find anyone who would use them

Might have to detour to Target this afternoon!
I also check out thrift stores have found several packs of invitations, cards, etc. When the store had a half price day I got them for a quarter for 8 or 10. Some of the cards I can "alter" and especially use them for various charities. I do need to figure out a good way to cover up the logo/bar code on the back!
I actually found packs of envelopes at Target--25 to a pack 5x7 size in red and white, heavyweight cardstock envelopes!!! At 75% off they were 62 cents a pack. I bought all they had at three different Target stores. I shared them with my mom, gram and sister who are also card makers. I also found ribbon--grosgrain, satin, etc.--6 different rolls to a pack, Christmas colors, of course for $3.74 for 150 feet of ribbon. Very cute, found a couple of these to share with my masses, too. I LOVE after holiday shopping!!
Another great find at Target in the Christmas clearance and the stationery clearance were these 4-1/2 x 2-1/x boxes of wooden matches. Great to alter or pretty enough the way they come, but fun to fill with votives and a couple of matches as a Valentine's Day gift. Especially nice if you decorate the votives with a strip of valentines day paper or some stamped paper.
I think they were about $1 each, filled with matches.
