My DH says if it is something I would buy anyway by all means save money. That reminds me I HAVE a 50% coupon to Mikes. I do generally keep my coupons for larger items.
Oh, you HAVE to use it! Even if you buy some cute ribbon for $3, hey that's a $1.50 saved, better than nothing! I tend to buy the Martha Stewart with the coupons, since her stuff is NEVER on sale!! I just got her heart punch and love it! Enjoy!
If you're not using it....you're abusing it!! Besides, we are doing a favor to dhs', when we save I always feel good when I use a Mikes or Joannes coupon, even if it is for a small item. Enjoy 2008 as a year of fabulous stamping, and coupon deals!!

I have the same belief. If you have a coupon, then you are really obligated to make a purchase. But now I find that I really have been showing a lot of restraint and not been using them as much. I guess with the potential of owing taxes for the first time in 8 years and having to decide what to do with my car lease in March, I've had to grow up and slow the spending down.
It is really nice to know that you have bought a truly necessary (ha ha) craft supply at half off though. I think that at least 60% of every thing in my stash has been purchased with a coupon. Why pay full price? If I find that I don't really need or want anything that week, I'll use the coupon oh adhesive.
doesn't mean I have to use it! So, if I only used one of my Michael's 50 percent off coupons today (I have 2) does that mean I showed restraint?
I try my best never to let my Michaels 50% off coupons go to waste. If I can't use them, I share them with someone who can. I do not have a problem with using them for inexpensive stuff as well as the more expensive things. I get marker sets and punches. The only bummer is that when Michaels puts out a 50% coupon they will put the more expensive things on sale for 25-40% and you don't get to use the coupon. I'm not sure if this works in your area but someone told me JoAnn's will let you use Michaels coupons. I haven't tried it so I am not absolutely sure on that one.
Oh my goodness, you are right! I had forgotten about that! I've bought all of the cuttlebug folders I want from Michael's, but ACM has a couple that Mike's doesn't carry and I was waiting for a coupon from ACM. See? Good HAS come of all of this! Tell your husband thank you from me! LOL!
Where I am at there is no Mike's, so my hubby would Totally understand If I had two 50% off coupons!

LOL I think it is a waste to not use one of them! In fact, we were just in JoAnns the other day and I still had one Michaels 50% off and the JoAnns 40% off and I used both of them. What my DH said to me was "just because you have a coupon doesn't mean you have to get something expensive" and the reason he said that was because I had just looked at a pad of paper that I really liked and said "oh it is only $10" thinking it would almost be a waste of a 50% coupon. He wanted me to know it was OK to use it on that because I showed interest in the paper and everything else we were getting was all clearance or sale stuff and I was having a really hard time finding anything NOT on sale that I wanted. Then I used the 40% coupon on some matching 3.99 embellishments. LOL!

I always get a kick out of newer employees at M's or other places when you say "darn it! This is on sale!" They don't get why we might not view that as a good thing....
I wandered around my Mike's yesterday but couldn't find anything that wasn't already on sale...I'd go to Joanne's but they NEVER have anything; I always use their coupons at Mike's!
If DH had two 50% off coupons to the Harley shop, the bar, the golf course, etc., then you can put money on the fact that he would use them both because whatever he buys is "necessary" in his mind, and he's saved money by using those coupons.
They don't think our stuff is "necessary," do they?

Does Michaels take Jo Ann's coupons????
Mine are two blocks apart~ I have TONS of Joanns coupons, never any Mikes....

I totally agree! I see that 25% off sign and groan!
I rarely get Michael's coupons, which is a shame because I'm in a coupon club and get 4 Sunday newspapers each week! I guess they don't realize that yes, I AM willing to drive 20 miles to get to Michael's, therefore, I need coupons!
A Michael's is being built in a strip mall close to my house and is scheduled to be finished sometime next year! Yay!! I'd better start saving my money now, because it may become a daily habit to stop in!
So, Michele, if you have it, USE it! Use it for all those ladies who may never have the opportunity! Use it to send the message to Michael's that we love coupons! Use it to stick it to Martha Stewart, because if she allowed it to be used on her products, they'd fly off the shelves!
Yes, of course that means you showed restraint. And in the spirit of New Years resolutions, I think you should revel in that, mention it numerous times, and pat yourself on the back!
And frame the unused coupon as a constant reminder to DH that you really are a thoughtful shopper!
Do you guys just get the coupons in your paper or can you sign up to get them sent to you (I don't get the paper)? I need to get in on this coupon action!
