Default Receiving stamping gifts, LOL only we know!

Those of you that ask for and then receive stamping/scrapbooking/paper craft gifts only know how exciting it is to receive it --- other people around seem to be baffled how exciting it can be --

Asked for and received Martha Stewart glitter -- DH asked what I wanted and told him -- and he delivered - first time EVER!! I am so happy -- 7 bottles of that beautiful glitter that she demo'd doing pumpkins one show -- fell in love with it -- MIL and SIL thought it was so funny that I would be so excited to get glitter -- !!

Anyone else excited to get gifts that only we would understand how exciting it would be???

My DH used to teach printing, so he "gets" papercrafts! Though, like a man, the things he's most interested are the tools. I was playing the Flourishes video on using the Nestabilities I got for Christmas with the Cuttlebug on the computer last night and he was watching over my shoulder and asking what kind of roller was inside the 'Bug...was it rubber? He knows about die-cutting since you do that in printing...so at least he gets some of it, though probably not why I find it so exciting. ;)

I would be happy if some of my family would at least humor me---most of them just roll their eyes and say way too much time on my hands! But my DH finally saw the light and made me an ink pad holder! Wanna see a picture......

I left my comment on the ink holder in the gallery- wow!

When I spend my Christmas $$ I'm sure I'll get the rolling eyes and shaking heads, as my family doesn't understand why I'd spend $$ on stamping stuff.

I did get very excited over my Rachael Ray knives, and nobody understood that either.... oh well.

Umm... so I screamed louder than any kid in the room when I unwrapped my Cuttlebug. It was such a surprise! And I got a new rolling tote. I didn't even ask for them.
My nephew wanted to know what was so cool about a suitcase! My sister told him it's not a suitcase for clothes, it's for my toys. He gets it now.

My Dh, kept asking me what I wanted and I had been reading about the
Design studio for the Cricut. I'd been thinking Cricut needed a cartridge
that you could take a design and double it to turn in to a card, and when I
found out that you could do that with the design studion soft ware I decided
I have to have that, so I told him I wanted some money to go towards buying it and he asked how much it was. I told him we could get it from Kim Slaymaker right here in town for $60. He said I'll buy it for you for Christmas just go ahead and make the arrangements so I called her, we went out and got it---I had it within 2 hrs of asking for some money for it. But I was good and didn't open it til Christmas day.
I was excited for those several days just thinking about it and waiting to play! Finally got to sit down and look at it about 11:00 last night. Boy! have I got a lot of reading and figuring out to do! YOOHOO---Regina Easter, are you there, can you run over and help me for awhile???

HA HA! Last year I got Rachael Ray Anondized Cookware and I was so excited that I took a picture of them with my cell phone so I could look at them even when I wasn't at home. Even now I still get excited when I use them to cook!

What a great christmas! My DH without any prompting from me got me a big kick, several dies, lots of stamps, a sweet circle cutter, a crop-o-dile, and a boatload of DP. My MIL bought me a Xyron 900 when i hinted at a 500 while at wal-mart. Rock on!!

DH gave me the official Swingline Office Space Red Stapler + tons of video games (including Super Mario Galaxy) and a Nintendo DS (I picked it out) for Christmas. He usually knows better than to buy me crafty gifts cuz he knows I am super picky and would need to give input before he buys. He kept teasing me that I was going to give him tools (which he wants) but I told him it was just like buying me crafty stuff cuz I know nothing about what makes a certain tool a good deal or what features are good, etc. BTW we spent nearly all day Christmas playing the new video games we gave each other. He is 35 and I'm 32! LOL!

Can that hubby make some more of those ink holders and sell them to us? I would so buy one if I could afford it - wow he did a great job. I don't like how wobbly the SU! one is plus they don't go in upside down, can't find any old 8 track racks, just have mine in a drawer - only have a few so far. But wow, what a great gift -

Laurie, I am curious, why would you want to turn them over upside down? If you have the current SU pads there is no need to do this. When you close them they are upside down!

Also, My family laughed at me as I cried after opening my set of nestabilities! I hadn't even asked for them. I asked for a cuttlebug and got that and the nesties to go with it!

But I think they do get what it means to me, luckily!

Can I have your husband????

Ok, my son gave me a gift certificate to AC Moore and my husband gave me one to Cornish. My MIL gave me the Autumn Leaves page a day calendar (very nice by the way -- it is in a nice clear plastic stand and you don't rip off each page, just move them to the back). I guess they've figured out that the only thing I want is craft stuff.

Default Asked for adhesives

I asked my husband to go to the local office supply store (he's friends with the owner) and order a large supply of Tombo Mono Adhesive Rollers. I told him I was totally serious and this is what I really wanted. He didn't get it for me though........like the year I asked for the Sonicare toothbrush for Christmas. He just didn't think a toothbrush was a good Christmas gift.

REALLY! I need adhesive!!!

My sister is my demo, so we all make wish lists every year. She sends them to our SO's so that they have the chance to order from it for us for Christmas and birthdays. My DH has learned he can never go wrong with SU! stuff - and he did a great job this year! He ordered me a TON of stuff, including the Color Caddy, brayer, paper cutter, two stamp sets, 3 wheels, 3 new colors (paper, ink, and marker), and I know a few other things.

My DH keeps a list of other things he hears me mention I want so that he always knows what to get me - I got an iPod for my birthday, he made sure to find a red laptop when he bought me a new one this year (I had never had my own and my favorite color is red), and he also got me a bluetooth for Christmas and a dyson - all specific items I've mentioned.

I know what you mean. My friend gave me a set of markers for Christmas. So Cool!!! And my hubby gave me a stamp set, some watercolor crayons and the Coluzzle starter set. I am so Spoiled!!!!!

The hubbys at our church just roll their eyes every month when it's goodie day. Our pastor's wife is a SU demo and we have a bunch of us that get together monthly for workshops. Sundays are the best time to deliver goodies since we're all there. People who don't stamp looked at us weird at first, but they're used to it now.

I know what you all mean when you say you get a lot people not understanding the stamping obsession. I made out well too this year though. Dh got me a multi paper fiskers cutter I wanted and he got me a 5x7 digital photo frame witch I didn't have on my list but think it'll be a cool place to display my cards. My MIL also did well. She got me a set of prisma pencils and some digital scrapbooking software. I've been wanting to try the scrapbooking forever. Should be fun, Does anybody have any opinions on the digital scrapbooking?

The only Negayive thing I had happen was we were at my Aunts for christmas day and after we were all done opening our gifts, I noticed my hand stamped money gift card holders I gave my cousins boys were thrown in the pile of ripped up gift wrapto be thrown away. At first I shrugged it off as the boys just didn't think but then it happened again and it was his mom who did it . ugh!!! I almost said something but couldn't. So now some of my creativity is in the trash. whaaaaaaa!!! I won't be making them anything next year that's for sure. I hate that... Why do people do that. especially infront of you. At least wait until I leave and wouldn't know about it right. Thanks for letting me vent. Happy Holidays everyone...

I understand the Swingline Red Stapler. YEAH!!! I bought one for DH last year and we still look at it and laugh. I was surpised some of his geek friends didn't get it. Happy gaming!

You ladies are so lucky! My DH will buy stamping stuff--if he knows what to buy. So will my mom. In fact, DH bought me VA Tech scrapbook because I had talked about how neat it would be to have to put in our game tixs and things. But, my MIL refuses to do such things. She will not even buy me a gift certificate. I guess this explains why she doesn't really seem to appreciate the cards I give her...she doesn't appreciate the art!

Enjoy all of your toys!

You're killing me!!!! Not the show The Office - haven't seen it either. The movie Office Space http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_Space
DH worked for a major tech company and said it reminded him so much of work. It reminded me of all his friends that come over and game... I'm laughing - ROTFL - at this movie right now just thinking about it!!!!! If you missed this movie - it's a classic must see!!

I got a scor-pal too and did the VERY SAME thing!!! It's so awesome. My MIL and SIL are crafters (though not paper), so they kind of got it, but everyone else looked ready to lock me up!

My family was awesome this year with getting stamping stuff. I had my BD at the same time and I got: scor-pal and OTT lite from my MIL, complete set of nestabilities ovals and rectrangles from DH, bind it all from kids, $50 gc to local stamp store from DH, cardstock from my brother, and annual subscriptions to both Stamp and Scrap and Paper Crafts magazines from my secret santa. I am so lucky, lucky, lucky and can't wait for the kids to go back to school so that I can really start playing!!!!

I didn't get any stamping supplies for Christmas or my b'day (which is the 26th) but I would love it if I did. In all fairness, I didn't ask for them because I figure it's too hard to explain what to get, where to get it, etc. Next year though I am going to tell DH to get me stamping supplies. My Dad gave me a Visa pre-loaded with some $$$ so I am going to use it to buy a BIA and some more Copic markers from Ellen Hutson's store. I need new shoes but I'd rather have stamping supplies!

My dh must have wandered the aisles of Michael's looking for stuff for me. In my stocking I found .......a package of scrap paper! LOL! Now WHO doesn't have enough scraps? It was all I could do to thank him without laughing. Bless his heart, he tried.

Anyone need any scraps?
