I am just starting to get into making cards again and wonder what everyone does with the inside of your cards? I mean if you are using a med to dark card base, do you put a light colored piece of CS on the inside to write on? What about the cards you make for others that you leave blank inside? Do you worry that their handwriting may not show up well on the cardstock if it is a med to darker colored card?
I either put a lighter colored liner inside to write on, or I just use a white card base and then decorate the front. Either method works great, regardless of who will be doing the writing inside.
I have always felt that adding a piece of white or vanilla CS on the inside of darker based cards looks tacky, but that is just MHO. I usually write with either a good quality white, silver, or gold pen. If I must have a layer piece inside it is usually vellum with the sentiment printed (I usually use the RGB codes to get a matching color of ink).

I usually put 1-2 layers on the inside with a sentiment.. I don't like a layered front of a card and a whimpy inside... so I always layer inside and out! Pam

I always put an inside layer in the card, even if it is a lighter color. The only time that I dont is if it is a white or vanilla based card, I just think it looks better.
I always have an insert in all of my cards, it is cut slightly smaller than the card and it is stuck (double sided tape ) to the inside on the front side only. This way when you open the card the insert opens as well. I used to only do this on dark cards but people started to comment on the professional look it gave my cards, so now all have it and I do agree with them. Also if you write your sentiment before sticking it in the card and you make a mistake on big problem it hasn't affected the card its self, just make another insert.

That's why I don't use cardstock on the inside. I use a piece of good quality stationery paper inside dark colored cards. Usually I cut it 5.25 inches by 8.25 inches -- fold it in half and insert it in the card.
Most times, I attach it with double stick tape like Misha said. Or you could tie a gold cord around the "hinge" of a more elegant card. Even with cord, I would suggest using a dot of tape beneath the paper.
I use a #24 piece of either linen, laid or silk paper, either natural or ivory color, for the inside. I may at times, layer it with a soft color mullberry paper. I print all my sentiments on the inside on my computer in a font that coordinates with the cover. I also use this same font when I print the envelope. I like the professional look I can get with my computer rather than hand writing.
Also put some graphic on the envelope that is found on the card......most times only a small portion of graphic on the envelope.

Good thing we all don't feel this way... none of our cards would ever get sent.
For light colors I stamp the sentiment right on it... for dark colors I use vellum and attatch with tape that doesn't show the vellum. This way is nice too since I can print out whatever I want.

i make a white card base and attach the card front to it.
i started doing this for the very reason you asked... dark CS. now i do it with all the cards i make- even white. it also adds some substance to the card. so even a OLC is a little more substantial.
momis mama.......I'm sure I'm not the only person who does not know this, but what is OLC??? I'm guessing CS is cardstock. I for one wish people would spell out what they mean. It would make it so much nicer to understand what I'm reading in the posts on this site. I know there is a "dictionary" thread on the site, but doing that for each abbreviation, I loose the interest in the post.
I usually make a full liner from nice parchment paper purchased at my local paper warehouse in a coordinating color and print the sentiment on it. To attach the liner to the card base, I put down three approx. 1" strips of tape just along the left side of the center fold score. You can also attach it by running a line of tape down the left edge of the inside card base as well.
Sometimes I stamp the inside of the card if it's white cardstock and I have the right sentiment. The liner makes it look nicer if I use the computer to print an inside message.
Take a look at commercial cards. That's where I saw the liner attached on the far left side. It's fun to browse what's available at the card shops on occasion just to get some fresh ideas.

it took me some time to catch on the some of the 'lingo' of SCS (splitcoaststampers)
sometimes it just takes much longer to type out every single common phrase, that it just is habit and comes much easier.
i am sorry if i caused anyone to loose interest in this post.
I always use some kind of liner if the card is being sent to someone older, my Mom, Aunts, etc. I also only use black ink to stamp any of the sentiments and to write my note. I know my Mom can no longer read anything printed in red and has some trouble with other colors.
Friends are like the walls of a house. Sometimes they hold you up, sometimes you lean on them. But sometimes, it's enough to know they're just standing by.

I use a nice sheet of computer-weight paper to make a complete liner for the inside. Attach on the left inside and it looks just like the fancy cards from the store
I love to decorate the insides of my cards too. I use parchment paper to line the insides of dark cards, as has been mentioned. I like to incorporate a bit of the colors or stamping inside the card, and sometimes I go all out like this card.
cindybstampin.......I think that's the prettiest card..inside..envelope that I've seen on this whole website! I like the touch of using just swirls. It's formal, elegant and really makes a statement without taking away from the sentiment on the inside. I also like the colors.

Same here! The inside should look just as nice as the outside, in my opinion.
And, if you have a heavily-embellished front, the card will be "top heavy" and might not stand up unless you have a layer or 2 on the other side to even out the weight.

cindybstampin.....You're Welcome! I use a swirl stamp lots of times on my cards......watermarks.....sympathy cards.......a card that I want to be somewhat neutral in theme.
I use a light paper. I found a print color match for SU colors on this site somewhere. I type my words to match the color of CS I used. It makes it better to me somehow.
