If you made your Christmas cards, are they mailed yet??
I've been making Christmas cards for about a month now - I make no more than 4 of a kind, some are just one-of-a-kind or two or three of one design. I just kept making them and then I figured I really needed to COUNT the people on my list to see how many more I needed to make?! Good idea! <g>
Well, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I have 10 MORE than I need (I have 77 and need only 67!), which is great! But now DH has to finish our family newsletter - pictures with text. He does a great job - he's a good writer and will pick the best pictures. But he's been working and Christmas shopping and hasn't finished it yet. Hopefully tomorrow. So I hope to get the newsletters with the cards in the mail on Friday!! I hope at least the local people will get them Saturday!
We don't like to fold the newsletter more than once - just in half - so in the past we've gotten bigger envelopes and I just stick my card in there with it and make sure it has enough postage.
So are YOURS mailed yet??
Oh, and by the way, do you stamp the inside sentiment when you make the card, or do it later? I have to stamp the insides of over half of them, and make sure my SU Stamped By... stamp is stamped on the back!! Next year, I'm going to stamp the whole thing (and sign it!) while I'm making them!! <g>

Reason: to add last paragraph!
I mailed mine last week! The base of mine is night of navy--after I had cut it all out, I realized that I would need to add a piece of white for the inside. This worked out beautifully....many times I have stamped the inside verse on the finished card and messed it up or I have written my family members names incorrectly (about 75 or so cards in, it gets sloppy!). Putting the piece of white in there allowed me to stamp the inside verse and sign the card before it was assembled and allowed me to throw away the mess ups without ruining the card!
Most of mine went out on 12/1; a few last week, and a few more this week, of ones that I had forgotten or that I was including something else in. I do still have cards left over. I did 7 different styles--the least was two of a kind; the most was about 15 (I really liked that one); most were 6-8. I also sent out a few that were left from last year that I really liked and had left over.
This year I started scanning all my cards into the computer instead of trying to save one of each--works much better and less to store! Of course, I now have a pile of cards to scan that I have RECEIVED . . . and want to keep or remember.

Most of mine went out on Monday and they were all pretty much the same. I wanted them to be as flat as possible for cheaper postage so there was no layering, ribbons, etc. maybe next year they will be more elaborate.

Most of mine went out today and many of them are for my swap group, they needed to be hand cancelled due to thickness... oh well! I am wrapping up the last few tonight....
I mailed mine out the day after Thanksgiving this year. I figured since i had them done may as well get them in the mail. This is the first time I have mailed them before Dec. 1st.
I finally got mine in the mail today. I had been carrying them around for about a week and kept forgetting to get them mailed. I made two different designs and kept one of each, writing a list inside each one so I would know who I sent them to. That way I know who I sent cards to and which one they got, plus I can use the leftovers again and not send someone the same card next year.
mine are all mailed!! i made several different ones and made a bunch at a time so it was not at all a stressor!! i think i might do the 10 a month challenge starting in january.
Wow, I can't imagine doing 77 cards - I only needed 40 and I thought that was a lot!
The last of mine went to the Post Office today. What's interesting...this last batch had some plastic glittery snowflakes on them and you could easily feel all the bumps, so I put an extra 17c on each of them after reading all the posts on SCS about cards being returned for insufficient postage when dimensional embellishments are used. Then, at the Post Office, I was talking with one of the workers and mentioned the extra postage. He took one in his hands, felt it, and said it could have gone for 41c. Go figure! (Guess it's different at each Post Office.) Oh well, at least it's all done for this Christmas.
Oh, and I always stamp the inside sentiments LAST. Big mistake - after spending lots of hours watercoloring the cardinal on the cover, lining up and stamping the outside sentiment just right, lightly glittering the outer edge with Stickles (beautiful effect), I then botched up the sentiment inside three of them, totally ruining them. Since they were one-layer cards (on Fabriano Medioevelis cardstock with the deckled edge) there really wasn't any way to repair them, or even reconstruct them. From now on, I will do ALL the stamping first, inside and out, before coloring or embellishing. Oh well...live and learn, right?
Merry Christmas!

This was the 1st year for making cards! Wow I think I better start June 08! They just went out today, so glad to hear everyone else is still mailing. I'm sure people are thinking that I'm not sending any this year. I cut my list way back, but still made about 95 and mailed about 87. Two designs, but very, very close...small change, but I did them in 4 colors. It was pretty much an assembly line of production. I did stamp the inside and signed before putting them all together.
I too was/am very nervous about the postage, but I have the template and they all slid through with no problems. Couple of layers and brads. And yep didn't forget the stamped by on the back My mom gets a kick out of that, so I think that's the only reason I remember.
Now I need to finish everything else! Good Luck to everyone
I did most of ours...but gave some to DH to do....
I gave him a list, the address book, return addy labels, hand made cards, envelopes AND stamps
He just came to me when he was done and thanked me very sweetly....I said it's all SU! baby! he he... I just want him to see the VALUE in my hobby. LOL

mine are all mailed... big sigh!
i made well over 100 cards this year.
i made 20 for my mom. and 20 to send to the residents at our county home. about 12 for my husbands co-workers. about 20 for my daughters teachers and friends. and i am sure i sent 50-60 myself. plus i sold some too.
have to make sure i am 'getting my moneys worth' from all the stamps and supplies i buy... he he he!
I will have made and mailed all our cards this week... About 4ish designs... Anyhoo, 40 mailed, 73 just waiting for a ride to the PO deposit box... I sure hope the out of town ones make it as I used "merry christmas" instead of "happy new year" I "cut" about 20 of the more distant relatives this year and trimmed DH's "work" list, too... I think my hand's still going to fall off though...
All I can say is WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I swear I'll start 08's in March LOL)
(PS: My DH likes to help, too... he's my postage and return address label guy... it's the "little things" ;))
I actually made cards for everyone who hosted a show for me this year, and all of my club members, along with my family. Anyhow, I'm pretty proud, I mailed all of them off on Sunday.
I am getting all but about 10 in the mail tomorrow. My hand got tired as I wrote a personal message in each one. Good news is that I have left overs, so I have a start for next year already.
Most of mine have been mailed and have reached or should reach their destinations in the next day or two. I finished 5 more tonight and maybe need about 3 more and then I'm done. HURRAY!
I'm not sure exactly how many I've made. Somewhere between 40-50. About 5-6 different designs.
I have mailed out 40 as of the 3rd of December.. and tonight (oh it's gotten late ) just have another 5 - 6 to address for people who I didn't have addreses for etc. I had to laugh!! Mine all have several layers and I had to pay extra for all of them. But at one post office - where I took my first batch - the larger ones were $1.10 per card, and the smaller ones 93 cents.
So, then a couple of days later I added in my Christmas letter I ( just one page ) for those whom I send a Christmas letter. Went to a different post office - and paid 93 Cents for the big cards, and 52 cents for the smaller ones ( 52 cents is the normal postage in Canada ). Oh well!!!! As long as they get there!!!
I mailed mine Tuesday. I mentioned to my dh yesterday morning that it was weird how FEW cards we had received this year, and then yesterday - BAM!! - I got a BOATLOAD of cards! (So glad I wasn't the only one a little late sending them out!!)
I think I've only sent out 13 cards. I've actually made about 50 Christmas cards throughout all of 2007, but DH wants to keep all but the 13 I've mailed out. The good thing is, no one really expects a card from me.
Okay....I made, and am still making, a total of 172 Christmas Cards. The bulk of them-160 I mailed last Tuesday...I was FLOORED that I spent $102.94!!! OMGosh! (That will teach me to make square, multi-layered cards! LOL!)
I RARELY stamp the insides or back when making cards, so I had to stamp the sentiments and sign them while addressing. I need to space out the card making next year, so joined the Christmas Card Challenge here on SCS!
