I am in the process of re-organizing my room. I am a little stuck on how to store my punches. I do not want to store them on a hanger or on a hook behind a door.
Does anyone have any other ideas or pictures of how they have stored all their punches?
I store the few I own in a white/clear three tier drawer thing that has high enough drawers for them to fit and close properly. It sits on top of a file cabinet.
I've seen some people use the shoe racks that are designed for the back of the door with the plastic pockets...my daughter has one that is supposed to be for Barbie's I was going to steal it!

I have the punches sorted by circles, squares, ovals, hearts, small, medium, etc. and each drawer is labeled. I do have a lot of punches and this keeps them easily accessible yet out of sight!
I store mine in a rubbermaid-like 6 drawer "dresser". This "dresser" has 3 deep drawers and 3 shallow drawers. I keep my punches in one of the shallow drawers. It is very easy to access and I don't have all my punches out in the open.

I saw someone post a picture on here where she had used towel racks attached to the wall. I would check the gallery for ideas, but that was the best one that I have seen. I really need to do something different with mine, I have them in a rubbermaid tote and get mad everytime i go to get one out!!
I do have a friend that has hers in a shoe rack that hangs over the door, the one with the pockets, it seems to work well for her!!
I'm subscribing. I want to know too. I have nearly all the SU punches & I have them out on a table because I want to be able to grab the one I want without fishing through drawers. Soooo? What do you do? EdieB

Laura - I use towel racks pictured here//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/543496?cat=500&ppuser=54910 - they are 20" long found at IKEA. Any strong towel rack will work. I have added 8 in total across the wall now.

I brought a narrow shelf from that magazine where everything is $14.95.
Its for the kitchen but I separated the two parts and hung on either side of the window in my office. Ill take a picture and add it to my gallery. If I still have one. lol
I havn't posted a picture in a long time.
does this scratch your wall up at all? I mean behind where the punches slide in? we're closing in our garage for my stamp room and I wanted to do this with mine but my DH's concerned about scratching up the new paint lol:mrgreen:

You could mount these beautiful racks on a board and have you husband hang the whole board on the wall like a picture. That would help with wear and tear and the new wall. Just a thought.

This is what I use. I got a cheap clear one from Target. It has 24 shoe pockets and 2 smaller pockets at the top. I have my small punches at the top all lined up so I can see them, my decorative scissors in the next row and my punches, medium then large at the bottom. I have 6 empty pockets. Sometimes when I clean up my table, I put tools in the empty pockets.

hmm thanks...it's hard to keep everything "pretty"....i'm used to plastic bins everywhere and i'm really trying to jazz it up. that might work like making it like a picture frame or something. Thanks!:cool:

I haven't notice any scratches, but I don't really throw them onto the racks, they have to be placed as there should have been abit more space between the top and bottom rack. The punches don't really have any sharp edges to scratch.

Got them for 99-cents each at WalMart and will probably have to add another one soon. In fact this pic was taken before I added the 4th one. And as to your husband's concerns about the wall - nope, mine haven't scratched the paint a bit. I absolutely love that they are all out where I can see them. I use them much more often now.

Here is a pic of mine. I used cafe rods from Bed Bath and Beyond. They have a nice look to them and they fit all the SU punches. Not so much the Marvy Giga, Mega etc. I just put them on top. Running out of room now... this is an old pic!

Mine too are on the curtain rods. Really cheap at Walmart... I have not had a problem with them scratching the wall. I just love them hanging on the wall and not tossed in a drawer.

Do the towel rods or curtain rods hold the mega and giga Marvy punches? I use them a lot and would love to have them accessible instead of in my iris carts.
Because I stamp in a closet, yes, I have not been able to *come out yet*...
I do not have wall or shelf space.
I bought a set of three drawers from Wal-Mart - it is 9 1/2" tall by 10 1/2" wide and 13" deep. It is a Sterilite brand and it holds all my large punches. It sit on the floor under my build-in desk and is easy to get too and my Scor-Pal stands right beside it.
I am getting ready to add a second one on top for the smaller punches and the new ones coming.

Oh...I'm so very grateful for all of your ideas...I love them all. I do have a lot of punches and I do not have the entire room to myself so I think the rod idea is out (even though I love it so much). I think I will get some 3" deep drawers and divide them out properly in these. Thank you all for the help!!!
I have the same rails from Ikea as Kathy and LOVE them (you can find them in the kitchen section there) - I have my punches on them and the Marvy Giga and Mega punches also balance on there very nicely. I havent had any problems with marking the walls behind them either :-)
I also have the same rails that I hang baskets and plastic pots from (also from Ikea in the same section) that hold my scissors, glues, tapes above my desk which keeps everything close to hand but maximises my desk space - and I have the same rails with deep baskets on the wall under my table to hold my paper trimmers and cutting mats - they are wonderful and so cheap - the rails are around $2 each and the baskets $2-3 and the plastic pots 99c each :-)
I bought some plastic gutters from Home Depot that I saw on another thread somewhere, but so far I haven't had the time to get them hung!!! They are leaning up nicely in my garage hoping I'll come and fix them up for my ribbon and punches!

I bought all of these babies on clearance I think all for $5.00 each. I have 7 punch bags, and 7 of the fiskars scissor bags.
The fiskars scissor bags are great for not only scissors but also hand punches. I also store my sizzix paddle punches in them (boy did those not last on the market...) and also my polymer clay and metal working tools.
The black bags are all Plaid! Gear. I can find them online but no in stores since there are more colorful and popular storage items nowadays.
I went to my local home improvement store and got a 10' PVC gutter and cut it into two 5' pieces -- I mounted this to my wall to hold my ribbons and punches! HERE IS A LINK TO MY GALLERY SHOWING THE PIC
It's an outdated pic now as I have nearly every SU! punch and the bottom is totally full!!
In the bottom of the gutter I placed a strip of the shelf liner - that way the punches dont slip or fall down.
Storage for Punches?
