HELP--SU art has been disappointing, where else can I go for stamp sets?
So, I know that there are sets I love and I LOVE SU for so many other reasons, but I have just been left wanting with the past 3 catalogs now (including the newest to arrive which I had a chance to see today).
I have made the choice to stop buying b/c I love and buy what I USE....which is mostly for scrapping, so I am buying more on the themes that I will be scrapping....aka...no flowers for doodles.
I just have been un-inspired by the art of the new stuff (for scrapping which is all I have time with with my 2 little ones).
I do love their floral sets, but dang, they never get mounted/used at all, so why buy them...
So my question to you all is....
where else can I go to buy stamp sets???
I prefer a party system if you know about
would love to see links and so forth if you want to!!
HELP me find the art I need and want for my scrapbooks, cause I need need need some new stuff! THANKS
I'm not a scrapper, so I can't advise you where to find stamps that you may find more suitable to scrapping. Just wanted to make sure you know about the Scrapbooking Forum here on SCS? Those ladies may be better able to answer some of your questions along with any scrappers here in the General Forum.
I have the opposite problem with the new SU catty! There's too many things in there that caught my eye this time around. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for! There's definitely stamps out there for every taste and purpose.

Sets~
Gina K sells sets now, I believe a lot of stamps are coming in sets.
MFT, Verve, Paper Tray, Crafty Secrets, LAD, are all the first ones to come to mind.
As far as party type companies, I only know of SU!, TAC, and CTMH.
You could browse the TAC or CTMH websites to see their stuff, I have no idea of what type of images they may have.
I could easily spend 100+ on stamps, but they would just not be mounted or used...I do love some of the florals, but it is the lack of interesting (imo) sets for the things I scraps...KWIM?? I just never scrap with florals, I have a 2.5yo girl that is a tomboy and not looking like she will be a girly girl anytime soon!!!
Most on-line stamp companies have galleries that include samples of cards made with their stamps. If you can identify companies whose "style" you like, you might end up ordering on-line more. That is my case. I don't find too much in the SU catalog to interest me and I no longer have an LSS in my town. We do have a Michaels but it hasn't stocked any new or different stamps in a while. The nearest Hobby Lobby is 30 miles away. That same town also has 2 LSS, but neither of those stores has much for stampers and what they do have is not of interest to me. So, most of the stamps I've bought in the past year were purchased on-line.
I would prefer to give my money to a local business, but apparently the market here won't support one so I now buy on-line.
CTMH has the acrylic stamps. When you look through their catalog you see mostly scrapbooking pages. I don't own any CTMH stamps yet, but they have some really nice ones. You should check it out. I am sure there are CTMH demonstrators where you live and they should be able to give you a catalog.;) . I got mine at a craft fair and the girl just gave it to me for free.
Hope this helps

The Angel Company--TAC, has a party system with great benefits for hostesses. They sell unmounted, rubber stamps that are used with acrylic blocks, which makes for a great savings on space and cost.
Check out Technique Tuesday; they sell high-quality, clear acrylic stamp sets, and they cater mostly to scrappers. I don't scrapbook, and I still think their images are great.

Cornish Heritage Farms are releasing more as sets now (try the Kim Hughes collection) and many of their individual stamps coordinate really well as they're from the same artist (you can get swirly birds for example as singing, standing, flying etc). Some of their DT are scrappers and upload samples to the gallery - they've done some great stuff with the backgrounder stamps, too.
Definitely check out the scrapping forum here. It's not as active as this one, but the people who check in there regularly may be just who you're looking for.
I noticed in the 2008 Hero Arts Catalog (just released) that there are lots of stamps that would work for scrapping. I stamp on pretty much every scrapbook page I make and have a special stash of stamps (journaling, words, and so forth) that I love. I may need to make some room in that stash for some new HA stamps, 'cause they are wonderful.
If you are looking for scrapping as opposed to stamping....you may want to check out Top Line Creations - especially the hot fudge kits
I only use stamping intermitantly in my scrapbooks and my LSS has left me sort of cold when it comes to trying to put together a certain theme for scrapping...(way to much stuff and then to try and find coordinating things...oye)...While I do love the SU scrapping kits obviously they only come in a few # of "themes"

Not sure if you saw it, but there is a great set called Mark the Date that I love for my scrapbooks. I ordered it in the demo preview, and I already used in my fiance's scrapbook to show the day he proposed. I think it would also make a super cute addition for baby albums for first each month, or when they get their first haircut, loose their first tooth, etc.
Being a scrapper and stamper for a dozen years: I cannot imagine just buying stamps for scrapping, except for background. You have to be really limited, but I would have to consider using those stamps after for stamping to further my purchase amount paid. I do create more cards using designer paper, because it is so much more economical then purchasing stamps, but this site tempts me terribly to buy more stamps. Anyway, here is another site that is a scrapping partyline, I believe, but not sure if they incoude stamps.
I think if you are looking for a direct sales company SU! is probably going to give you the most options. TAC doesn't have the best artwork IMHO and CTMH just doesn't have the same selection. I do like CTMH though and do recommend looking through one of their cattys if you never have before.
I also wanted to add that some of my favorite SU! sets for scrapbooking are sets like little pieces and it's a date. Also, their alphabets are quickly filling up my stamp shelf.
Close To My Heart has a consultant search on our main website: www.closetomyheart.com just type in your zip code and it will give you several names of consultants in your area, also you can choose those with websites so you can shop on-line.

Also, take a look at the new Spring Summer catalog from SU when it arrives/come online the beginning of January. (I am first a scrapper and stamp a lot on my pages, am a demo and also stamp cards.) My first thought after seeing the new sets in this new catalog is how many will be GREAT for my scrapbooks and for my scrap classes. I also felt like there were new designers in this cattie.
As you browse all the different companies, you might want to give us feedback to what you find.
I always love to hear what other people find useful and interesting.
Good luck with your hunt!!
Another company that has really cute unmounted sets is Lizzie Anne Designs, a member company here. They participated in the scrapbook challenge this weekend.
here's a link to that thread: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
They are planning a big release of new sets in the first week of Jan.
