Hi! I thought those of you with a Costco near would like to know that they have been available there also. I got a set of 8 of these for $18.

I'm very happy with how sturdy they are.

So, walk me through this slowly.

Many of you use these to sort/store your cardstock in, right? So, instead of making 6 cubes with them, you use zip ties and make ____ cubes with ___ shelves in them.

Is that right? How many sets of 6 cubes do you need? Please fill in the blanks above for me.

Remember, talk slowly, I've got an older brain, slower connections!

I just bought a set from Target. They are on sale this week, 2/$22.

I set up 2 cubes (bottoms, tops, sides and backs) I guess the back could be optional if it will stored against a wall. I had 14 grids left over. There is room for 8 grids within each cube (perfect if you don't attach a back). So if you count the bottom and the top, I have 2 sets of 9 shelves each.

Also, if using these to store paper, look closely at each grid before attaching it with a cable tie. I found out the hard way but there is a lip on each grid. For the shelf portion, that lip should be on the bottom so it doesn't catch your paper. Also the checkerboard of grids can also catch your paper so make sure the top grid runs front to back, not side to side. Make sense??

Good luck!

Default storage cubes

I have looked at two Walmarts for these--what section did you find them in? I looked at Target also but they were out, maybe because of the sale. I will have to go back this week.

Default Shelves???

What are the shelf/dividers made out of? You know, the ones that make it possible to store layers of paper

I no longer use these as paper storage (too much dust I've found - even when I "bag" my paper) but here's a photo of the way I had it for a long while. I did 6 cubes wide and 4 cubes high and then 5 of the cubes had the "shelves" with it. Each cube can hold 8 "shelves" - you just use wire ties to attach them to the sides (4 for each shelf). (The shelves are just the same wire sides that hold the whole thing together) Just remember when you're putting them on to have the "smooth" side facing up so the paper will slide in and out nicely.

Anyway, here's what it looked like: (Yes, those cubes fit a 13" TV perfectly)

Here is what my paper storage unit looks like using these cubes. It's 4 cubes high on the left and 2 cubes high on the right. It's the only way I could get it to fit and still be able to get to the light switch.

I love the pictures! Thank you SO much! I have looked at Target and haven't found the cubes, but I will go look at Walmart today for the metal ones. One question- as I don't think I read it on here- how many sets do you need to make the extra shelves for the paper? I store my 81/2x11 in a file cabinet and like that just fine, however I need something for all my 12x12 paper. Thank you for mentioning dust though- because I will have to figure something out for that. My house accumulates dust like crazy!

The ones are Target come in a box with enough grids to make 6 cubes. I reduced that down to 2 cubes and used the leftover grids to make shelves. So with one set, you can make 2 cubes with 8 shelves in each.

Thanks for the input...I was wondering how to make shelves! They are very nice. At Walmart they were just on an endcap in the housewares...vac. cleaner bags, sink strainers, wastebaskets, etc!
