12 Days of Christmas Gifts
Hi! I wondered if any of you creative ladies (and men) have any ideas for fun 12 Days of Christmas gifts for my neighborhood kids? I have been compiling ideas from other threads and LOVE the reindeer noses, Santa's key, Reindeer food, Santa's Cocoa and am throwing in a few other things (stickers, homemade cookies, make it yourself ornaments from Oriental Trading). I've gotten 9 (a few weaker than others) and would love to get some other ideas.
Also, is there a cute 12 Days poem I can include in each gift?
Thanks!!!!:p

What about Snowman Poop? There is a really cute poem that goes with it...something like... "Heard that you've been good this year, but listen here's the scoop...I'm running low on treats so all you get is Snowman Poop!
The Snowman Poop is Mini Marshmallows.

12 days of Christmas poem?
Ladies (and gents):
My 13 year old is planning to do 12 days of Christmas for a friend. She would like to put some tags on each gift with a cute & clever saying but she's stumped. I've found some "traditional" ones online but would prefer some more generic. Her 12 gifts will be simple ones - she will be making a few things paper craft related (covered mini comp book, ornament, etc.) but will also be doing some small gifts of candy, candle, etc.
Does anyone have anything that resembles what we're looking for? We would plan to alter them a bit to fit her and her friend but we're having a bit of difficulty getting started.
Please and thank you!

We do the 12 days of Christmas with a poem for neighbors or friends each year. It is done in secret and the last day we reveal who we are...it has been so much fun each year.

Excellent! That's just what I'm looking for. Can you share the poems that you use?

Cindy, I did the following:
- ornaments to make x 2
- made ornament x 1
- christmas cookies x 2
- snowman poop (marshmallows)
- green candy cane (Grinch licked)
- reindeer noses (red sours)
- hot cocoa
- santa's key
and made up lots of the poems. Any of these you're interested in? Let me know and I'll write them up and post them here. (Santa's key, Reindeer noses, Snowman poop, Hot Cocoa, Grinch candy cane are from web sources and I'd be happy to link you, too).

This sounds like such a fun idea! Do you do this the 12 days before Christmas or does it run a different time period? Sorry for the silly question!

This is so thoughtful and inventive. Wow! You are a great secret Santa. Makes the month fun, you know?
I am counting back from Christmas day and using Christmas day to give the real present to each kid. So, mine starts on Dec. 13. I don't know if that's "wrong," but it's what I'm doing.
I've seen other 12 days of Christmas that started Dec. 1, but I thought there was such a lag between the end of the fun and Christmas. I hope I'm not doing it incorrectly.
OK. Well, I'm still waiting to hear if the pp wants any poems as I'd be happy to share!! I hope people keep posting their ideas. The talent and creativity here is endless.

Thanks! I can't take credit for it though. A former coworker did it for her daughter and I simply adapted some of the gifts for things I could find that "fit" KWIM?
As far as the 12 days goes, it's traditionally the 12 days following Christmas day, and ends with "Epiphany". I can't remember if you count Christmas day as day 1 or not. Guess I should brush up since that is part of our confirmation class assignment this week!
Your neighborhood kids are going to love that you are doing this for them! Let us know what all you decided to do!

Here is what we do (we did not make up most of these poems, but I can't remember who did)
Day 1:The song that I sing 12 days in a row won't get tiresome with treats from a friend you know, but to keep up the mystery and the fun, you won't know who we are until we done. Please don't peek until after 8 and we promise to try not to be late!
Now in the song, it's partridge and pear-
When I looked, my trees were all bare.
So I ran to the store at a hurried pace.
Pears they had plenty, but no birds in the place!
(can of pears left with the note)

Day 2:
did you know 2 turtle doves are extremely hard to find?
So here the Turtles and Doves-
The chocolate kind!
(leave 2 turtle chocolates and dove chocolates)

Day 3:
Hens are chickens
If they are French or not!
Here is chicken soup to heat in the pot!
(leave a can of chicken soup)
It goes like that for the whole 12 days...I wasn't sure if you wanted me to post all of it

Six geese a laying some eggs quite unique
I looked at them close and what do you think?
They are made of white chocolate candy,
Isn't that fun and dandy?
(melt white candy melts and cool in little circles with a yellow m&m in the middle...turn upside down so the M doesn't show)

So instead I made these swan cookies for you.

Day 9
Nine ladies dancing was a beautiful sight,
I applauded so loud it them a fright!
They ran away quickly, leaving a shoe or two,
So I filled them up with potpourri for you,
To hand in the closet, or in a drawer hide
They'll always smell pretty, that won't be denied
(I crochet little ballet looking slippers to fill w/potpourri)

Day 12
Twelve drummers drumming each on their own drum
That's the end of the song- wasn't that fun?
Here's your drum with goodies as full as can be
It's for wishing Merry Christmas to you from me!
(we decorate and fill a coffee can with candy ) This is the only gift we deliver and let them know it was our family...we do this on Christmas eve. My kids have fun the other days dressing all in black and sneaking around to drop off the gifts and not get caught. I wish I could say I created these poems and ideas, but I got them from someone years ago and if I remembered who , I would give them the credit they deserve

Wow! What a fantastic idea, thank you for sharing Might have to do some sneaking around myself! My 2 little girls loved 'BOO-ing' the neighbours with cookies near Halloween so this would be so much fun for them!
I'll have to have a good think about those swan cookies though

We never have managed to make cookies that look like swans so now we just send regular cookies
One year we were doing this to a good friend and her husband and sons stayed outside in the bushes trying to catch who was doing it (I have no clue how they missed us!) It is all lots of fun!
