My problem is that I can't stand to make more than a couple of cards of the same design. Knowing that about myself, I started making cards in January and made 3 or 4 a month throughout the year. That sounds pretty good, right? Well, it does until you do the math! I have 48 cards done...I need 60! Argh!
Done??? How about not started! I'm only going to do a few but I wanted to use the Dasher paper that is coming tomorrow. You're almost to your goal so hang in there! 48 cards is quite an accomplishment.
I'm like you, I just can't do lots of the same design. After just a few, I need to do something else. I barely was able to finish a swap I signed up for that had to be 6 each of two different designs. Those last two were so hard to finish! No more swaps for me!
I breathed a sigh of relief yesterday afternoon; mine are all ready for the mail lady today. May take them to the PO so I don't overload her. Total count was 65, I think. I, too, don't like to make more than just a few of one design. So I make 10-12 prototypes, then start "mass producing" those. THEN I always put an insert and that has to be stamped with an appropriate message for the recipient...it was stressful this year. I'm seriously considering doing the 10/month bit this next year.
I began mine last week, and am doing assembly line. I think I'm about 1/3 through. I'm a procrastinator, and they will get done, hopefully this week.

I am soooo behind this year on everything. We just got our tree up last night and the cards are in pieces right now. My goal is to mail them out next week!
Almost afraid I will have to buy mine this year. DH is redoing my son's room for me. He's off to college and already has a job away from home this summer, so he said I should take his room for my own. Stuff is everywhere, I can't find even my paper trimmer at this point.
OK, I guess I have the opposite problem, I 'love' making Christmas cards & have too many. Unfortunately, I don't seem to keep enough 'Just Because' or 'Thinking of You' cards. I guess I should join in one of those types of swaps. But I kinda feel funny about mailing 'other' people's work (no matter how gorgeous it is). So, I guess maybe I should just do challenges ~ that don't have anything to do with Christmas (I think I still have enough for all my 2008 needs... )
Mine aren't done either. I finally came up with a design last night. I'll be making 70 of the same design in the next couple of days. My DD (almost 9 yrs. old) will be helping with them tonight, she's very excited to help. I'm wondering how long she'll last though!

My 60 are in progress....I started on Saturday. I make them all the same design because coming up with a bunch of different ones, I tend to not like a few of them as much. I've stamped the main image, colored, and Stickled it. I've cut all the insides. I've cut about 1/4 of the main image's mats. I've cut about 1/4 of all the patterned paper. I've got the pictures that are going inside. I'm getting there. Hopefully by Thursday they'll be in the mail. I've got my Christmas postage stamps. I'm READY!

I am done as we only send out a handful, so I probably have enough for the next 3 years.....LOL! I'm the only card person in my family, no one else enjoys them and most of my friends think they are silly. They just don't get what the rest of us do!! Handmade cards are the best!!

I cannot make the same card over and over either. I did make a bunch yesterday but they are all different styles. After 4 or 5 of the same card I get bored and so I make a new one! Then I decide who gets what card! Hopefully I wil be done this week and can get tehm mailed out.
Oh, thank you for starting this thread, Donna; now I don't feel so alone in that boat!
Last year I didn't send out any cards because of tendonitis that affected the fine motor skills in my right hand, so the cards sat half-done. And even though I only had to finish up last year's cards for this year, they're STILL sitting on my dining room table awaiting the final glittering step, which will hopefully happen today. I just couldn't get myself going; I'm actually sick of them already - too many of the same design! I've resigned myself to try it your way next year and do a few each month of different designs.
Anyhow, at least now I'll be thinking of you (and all the others who respond)and I won't feel so bad!

I've *sort-of* started... I have made up a few preliminary designs, but I'm still deciding which I want to make en masse. I had hoped to get a bunch done over the weekend (yesterday and the day before), but I came down with a nasty flu bug Friday night and I'm still a bit under the weather. I hate getting sick this time of year when there's so much to do! Grrrr...
On the bright side, I only need about 30-40 cards, so it won't take me that long. I tend to keep it pretty simple and don't add too many embellishments to cards that need to be mailed. I also have in my arsenal some fabulous Basic Grey: Fruitcake DP and some nice ribbon I picked up at Joann's several weeks ago.
My goal is to have my cards in the mail on December 17; that should give them plenty of time to reach their destination by the 24th since I don't mail to anyone out of the country. I'm sure I can make that goal since I have a full week to do it.

So glad to hear I'm not alone! I have picked out the card I want to make... have the cardstock cut... but I keep finding other ideas on SCS that occupy my time! I've made pennant banners, candles, coasters and decorated wood blocks. Last night I spent hours making chocolate covered pretzels, almond bark & the pretzel ring things just to spend more time making cute toppers! Maybe this post will motivate me to do it today! :-D Only one more thing... do I send everyone a picture of us by the tree? Everyone's expecting to see my big baby belly this year... but I have HATED all the pics we've taken so far! So I may never send out the cards even if do get around to making them, lol.

I'm getting there, finally decided that 25 handmade and a box of K-mart cards will do the trick. Have them ready to go plus a few extras. made 5 different designs this yr. Now I'm debating about sticking them in the mail or risking a trip to the post office, as some are embellished and may cost more. How can I figure out what will fly?
Too much going on this year, some things had to get pushed aside - oneof them being the cards. I might send some out, if I can make some 'quickie' ones. I am not going to worry about it if I can't - I keep in touch w/people throughout the year so if I skip a year for cards - no big deal!
Haven't even started. I have a design in mind, but I may just buy cards this year.
With all the other stuff I have going on, DH has encouraged me to just buy cards ~ he doesn't want me to get stressed out over something that doesn't really matter.
I only have to make 35 or so, but right now, even that many seems like a chore.
I have made a lot of different Christmas cards but DH has claimed them all for himself. Now I either have to reproduce some of the ones he's got, or keep making new ones that I hope he won't like as much - but he always likes them so I am running out of time. I re-produced one a week ago and it took me three hours. I'm going by location/priority right now - those that are going to France are going to be made TODAY. (but that's what I promised myself YESterday)
I just mailed mine!
I I feel like if I do multiple kinds I would have to pick and choose which card goes to whom and if there is a really really nice card and a mediocre nice one than who would get them. So it is just easier to do all the same, plus I just like mass production.

The majority of my Christmas cards are completed. I still have a few "special" edition cards to design and/or complete. The hardest part for me is personalising my greetings in each card. I tend to put that off until it is almost too late for the cards to arrive in time. I always tell myself that next year will be different, but it never is  ...

You could always crop your picture down to ONLY show your belly (lol). And a little of the tree of course!

Sophie, your cards are such wonderful, original works of art. If I were you, I'd take a really good scan or picture of a holiday drawing you create, then send it to a photo-card creation place like Target.com or Shutterfly.com and have it made into cards. If you sign and date your artwork for the card, it still be a special treat for your recipients, even if you technically didn't hand-make the actual card. That's just my humble opinion, of course. ;)
(Or, you could take that photo or scan of your original artwork to a copy place like Kinko's, have them reproduce it on a high-quality color copier on white or buff cardstock, then cut and paste onto a card with a ribbon or other simple embellishment.)

No progress here. Everytime I try to work on these nothing I come up with looks right. Or my hand shakes and the image comes out blurred. Maybe I'm just not motivated or in the Christmas Spirit. However, my resolution for the new year is to make a few every month. That way I'm not doing this last minute thing and like many other's here I can only do so many of the same set. Plus I have the cricut and cuttlebug. I just have too many options and can't decide on anything.
Wow! I guess I have alot of company, huh? All I can say is that those of you who have already finished and mailed your cards have my complete admiration.
And, Sophie, you should really consider AlternateReality's suggestion...your artwork is gorgeous!
stamptician, hang in there...it's OK if your cards don't get finished...sounds like you're stressed enough already!
Still working on mine. Hope to color in the images and maybe start assembling tonight. I like options (maybe too many options this year) and therefore made 6 different designs for cards and am hoping to make 10-15 of each....but it takes forever! Spent Saturday cutting paper and Sunday stamping, so Monday is fun with markers night! Hopefully I will be done by the weekend.

Nope, not done yet either. I can stand to make about 4-6 of one card and that is my limit and then I move on to another design. I only started a few weeks ago and I have about 15 more to go plus all the gifts for the girls in my office.....

Done? Ha! I haven't even started yet! I did get the design settled last night...now I just have to go buy a Stampa-ma-jig and look for a photo corner punch. I start assembly line producing tomorrow
I haven't even started... and at this point they may not get done.
Just some family things that happened in the spring, and I started a new job in July. These changes are keeping me from any big projects at the craft table... it's such a shame, cause I have the ideas in my head... just not the time.
I even got some of those clear balls to make ornaments... have I made one yet, nope!
Oh I thought I was close to being done. I was even so close that I almost started patting myself on the back....until I recounted and looked closer at the list and realized ALL OF THE PEOPLE NOT ON IT!!! so this weekend I am making another 15. not bad but still more then I want when I thought I was just about done....I also have misplaced my box of envelopes (along with my mind)
Nothing done yet. First comes figuring out a gift for my MOPS secret sister and round robin gift for tomorrow! She's a papercrafter and loves SU! also, but if I give her any of my stash she'll totally know that it was me (which I think she knows already. I was her SS two years ago, so can't hand write anything.)
I just decided on Dec 6 to make handmade cards this year. I cut my list in half and finished making on Sunday. Addressed and wrote note Sunday afternoon and posted this morning - whew!!
I made almost 400 for a card show and have a bunch left- but they aren't the super fancy ones I send to other card making friends. So i still have about 10 super embellished ones to do and then I'm done.
I haven't addressed or personalized any of the ones that ARE done though so Im hoping to get them done tomorrow during my lunch break.
