SBDD02 Sarah Jane Dowsett 11.23.07 Welcome to our next Scrapbook Diva Designer Challenge!
Id like to introduce to you a very talented, sweet, funny designer who has recently burst onto the scrapbook design scene, spreading charm and doodling all along the way!
Congratulations to the sometimes silly, but always fabulous, Sarah Jane Dowsett, known as SJ!
SJ will be joining us as soon as shes able. She has a very good excuse to be a little off schedule his name is Finlay, and he was born just 8 days ago!!
Please join me in welcoming SJ to SCS this is a little bio that she had prepared pre-baby birth and a stunning layout created with some great stamping techniques for us to use as inspiration for the week. You can also get to know SJ better and view more of her work at her blog Little Musings. You wont want to miss the adorable new baby pix either ;)
Hi, I'm SJ. I live in the UK with a cat who considers herself to be queen of England, and Ben who is my long suffering fiance, who puts up with my hobby with quiet and beautiful patience.
We are expecting a son, Finlay this November, and that will complete our family...for now...
I discovered Scrapbooking whilst in the USA, and when it became popular in the UK, I was thrilled. I find inspiration from everyday items, from clothing to packaging, and adore creating way out wild and colorful designs. I also adore photography and love the challenge of creating a page to compliment a photo...
My favorite scrapbooking techniques include painting, inking, tearing and doodling.
If it can be doodled on, it will be, if it can be altered, expect it to change, if it stays still long enough, I will photograph it!
To participate in this week's Diva challenge, gain inspiration from SJ's layout however you would like and be sure to type in SBDD02 for the Keyword when you upload (thats a zero in there, not the letter O). There will be a little something for the one participant whose name is drawn next Friday!
You can find all submissions for this challenge here: SBDD02
The OPD (One Page Doc, aka: Master Challenge Thread) that includes all challenges on one page for your printing convenience can be found here: OPD
If you have any questions please feel free to contact any one of the SBCT (scrapbook challenge team)via pm or simply post your questions in this thread.
Thanks to everyone for joining in the challenge! Be sure to post a link here to your creation so that we can all ooh and ahhhh ;)
great guest hostess Jennie! such a fun page with lots of inspiration - the colors, doodling, layering, arrow......so much to look at. I checked out Sarah's blog and what adorable baby pics.
I dont often use my stamps = so was thrilled when Jennie asked me to get them out, and remember why I loved them all so much in the first place!!!
Im a doodle addict - all my pages these days are full of doodles and layers, Its really fun to take pen to your page and be brave enough to go mad!
My tip for nervous doodlers is, create a photo mat, doodle round that, and if it fails you can easily cut it off without ruining your LO - Or use shaped cardstocks, scallops and zigzags are ideal, and follow the shape of the edge, this gives you a doodled border without any effort, and yet looks great! Break up doodled lines with dots or even little doodled flowers, this creates interest.
Also - rummage through all your old embellishments, and utilise all those old tiles and epoxies that are gathering dust, you will be surprised at how many of them you will fall in love with all over again lol!
Love your avatar, SJ Welcome to the Diva Designer Challenge!
I'm so glad you dusted off those stamps - they go perfectly with your doodling. I'm hoping to feel better soon so that I can create something whimsical inspired by your layout

alright, so its not the greatest photo in the world, but I bet I took 50 and this was the best one! It's been gloomy and raining so I couldn't take it outside like I usually do. Anyway, I had a TON of fun with this page and have already started another. This one I combined this challenge and Peggy's challenge to do eyelet doodling and the results are...SILLY GIRLS

Ok, too much fun! I did another one, Laundry NE1? and the weather finally cooperated so I took my first lo out and got better pictures of it too. So here is "Silly Girls" with a decent photo of the lo! TFL!
