Default Any alternative to nugget tins???

Has anyone come up with an alternative packaging similiar to the nugget tins? I just got my second call today from Specialty Bottle that they have had yet another delay and they "hope" they will be here by the end of the year. Papertrey is sold out as well....of course I had planned nugget tins for the kids teachers and the staff at school.

Just wondering, aside from making my own, if anyoned has found any alternative packaging for them.

I got my Holiday Treats set from PT and I'm just dying to box them up somehow!!

Thanks!!!

I know you can't see the pretty nuggets in this, but I've made a bunch of the 2,5,7,10 boxes to put them in.

Default nugget tins

I made mine own with silver poster board from acmoore..I make the nugget box, but used my coluzzle to cut out a window on the top, added acetate for a window, and some I even put a ribbon on the top to make a handle. I think they are cute and I am sure soooo much less expensive..do you think the people you give them to save the tins?
I might for awhile, but not all people think like crafters..what can i do with this now?

You can make nugget boxes. Chris has posted some easy directions for all kinds of sizes. They are very easy to make!

I used cellophane bags and tied them with ribbon and a tag.

I just got that same call about 5 minutes ago! The worst part is that I already bought the wrapping paper, the nuggets, ribbon and labels. I'm so mad. I planned on making 16 of these so I'd have a cheaper gifts for Christmas. I've gotta figure out what to do since I've already bought the supply's. :( I'm been looking online for an alternative, but so far I've found nothing. I'll let you know if I do though.

You can make your own! Use your basic nugget box template, but replace the cardstock sleeve with a sleeve made from acetate.

Here is one I just made tonight:

well now, that link didn't work very well did it!
So, instead go to http://clearbags.com
choose the CRYSTAL CLEAR BOXES category on the left
Then choose Soft Fold Clear Boxes

I've used these for similar candy boxes (not nuggets) in the past and they work great.

Hmm, they have an extra charge of $7 if you place a small order under $10. Then shipping is another $9. I think the prices are a little high for me;).

I placed mine on 10/26/2007. I do have to admit though, it's nice that they are calling everyone. They could have just sent mass emails and got it over with.

I made paper boxes last year. Once you made one, they come together pretty easily. I DO NOT have scor-pal or anything, I just used a bone folder and ruler.

I saw this and was thinking about trying to get some envelope boxes, but can't find anywhere that sells them in less than 100 quantities for this size.

I was thinking about doing a bulk buy for them, but I don't know how to ship them to everyone. I imagine they aren't heavy, but I hate shipping stuff. I like those flat rate boxes, but I don't have any idea how many boxes can fit in a box.

What size of the clear boxes that Sweet Miss Daisy showed us would you get? What is the measurement of a nugget?

Argh! I am so frusterated. I planned to do this for like 40 people and now I don't know what to do.

"We were intending to have the item back in stock by the end of November but it appears now that the item will not be back in stock until possibly late December. "

i did a bulk buy. it kind of failed due to massive shipping problems. BUT i do know how many of the boxes will fit in a flat rate box. -nods-

if you were to buy the 4 1/2" x 1 1/4" x 5 7/8" boxes (they'll hold plenty of nuggets), i bet you could fit around 6-8 packages of 25 boxes into a long flat rate box. i know i fit that many into one. if you had the short fat flat rate boxes, you could fit slightly more.

if there's enough interest, now that the tins are gone, i bet people would be willing to go in on a bulk buy.

Are you talking about the clear (all clear) plastic boxes or the cardboard bottom clear lid envelope boxes? I think you are talking about the clear. I was talking about trying to do a bulk buy with the cardboard bottom envelope boxes that have clear lids and appear to hold 25 nuggets perfectly, based on the link to the clear dollar stamps website project. Whew! That was confusing. Sorry.

I think that these frosted tin tie bags from Papertrey Ink look nice with the nuggets in them because you can still see the colors through the bag.

Here's an idea. I've been doing these way before the tins with the clear tops became popular, though I really do like them!:

Fall Thank You by bettystamps at Splitcoaststampers

Christmas Workshop by bettystamps at Splitcoaststampers

Michael's gift card tins, $1, available year round. In our local M's they're at the checkout. Holds 10 nuggets perfectly. You just need to embellish the top to cover up the design.

i'm sorry. i misread your post. oops.
but still, i bet that with the tin shortage, people would be interested in a bulk buy.
as for fitting them in a flat rate box, the bottoms and tops probably come stacked. know what i mean? i dunno how many would fit in each type of box.

I am recycling glass and plastic jars with screw lids. Decorate them up,
throw in the nuggets. I think they will be pretty, you can embellish as
much as you want!

Default Nugget tins measurements?

What is the size of the nugget tins that are out of stock? I am hoping that some I have are similar...

Thanks --

I'm in the "waiting" group for my order from Specialty. Although I am waiting patiently, I think their communication, at least with me, has been poor. I have not gotten any contact from them regarding my order until I contacted them and was told the end of November. I know from here that that date has changed but thats it. As a business owner it also frustrates me that they don't keep their website updated to show that a product is on back order. They keep on taking orders as if it was in stock. Anyway....

I've decided to switch things up a little and either keep the tins for next year or use them for Valentine's Day. What I'm going to do instead is make smaller boxes myself that will hold 4 or 5 of them (maybe more depending on my final design) so that they will fit into a coaster box that I am making. In that will be a few other goodies and a g/c to a local coffee shop Its a lot more work so I need to get started but I'm sure I'll be just as happy with the end result

I tried to put in an order for them the other day and it said that it couldn't be added to my cart and to contact them...so I don't think they are just taking more orders without telling people.

Another vote for making the nugget boxes that used to be oh-so-popular. I made the size that holds 9 nuggets, and I did 15 in an hour, without a scor-it or anything like that- just used the scorer on my zision trimmer. They aren't QUITE as professional looking as the tins, but still very nice, I think. I'm tucking a gift card in the top of some of the boxes for my skating instructors, and then just giving a little "token" gift to my co-workers (no gift card).

And if you wanted a scor-it, it's a great way to justify the purchase!

I decided to do hot cocoa tins instead. I got the idea HERE. She also has some tea tins that she filled with nuggets HERE, so I'll be doing some of those too since I already have the nuggets and labels.

Both tins can be found at specialty bottle. The square and circle tins are 88 cents, and the tea tins are 98 cents. My tins should be here today:mrgreen:. I think I might also pick up some gift card tins from Michael's for a little variety;).

I might make a few of the nugget boxes but I still need a couple of these clear boxes also!

If anyone knows at least the dimensions of the nuggets...that would be great...not that I am good enough at math to figure it out any further

Would any of these work for smaller boxes of nuggets??
3 1/4" x 1 1/8" x 3 1/4" or
2 3/4" x 1" x 3 3/4"
2 3/4" x 5/8" x 3 3/4"

Thanks sooooo much;)

I know they are a little over 1/2" tall, but I didn't measure the other ways. Sorry, I am no help!

I know they don't have the clear tops, but the Michael's gift card tins work very well. They are at the checkouts, and are only $1. There are some pictures in the gallery of some also.

I wonder how many nuggets would fit into this clear top tin:
http://cgi.ebay.com/square-tin-conta...QQcmdZViewItem

Size of tin is 1-1/4" in depth (including the lid), and approximately 2-1/2" in both length and width.

The seller has them for $1.29 each.

Specialty Bottles has them for .68 each.

I bet you could maybe have 9 nuggets in the tin (instead of 12). A little decorative shredded grass would make the fit not as noticeable.

Actually you can do two layers of four nuggets to fit the tin perfectly for a total of eight nuggets. I measured out a piece of paper to be 2-1/2 by 2-1/2. The two layers is just under 1-1/4". (Measured by a ruler, I don't actually have one of the tins.)

Kimberly

Edited: The Specialty Bottle website mentions that the depth is 1.4" so two layers would be PERFECT!!

So, instead go to http://clearbags.com
choose the CRYSTAL CLEAR BOXES category on the left
Then choose Soft Fold Clear Boxes

I've used these for similar candy boxes (not nuggets) in the past and they work great.
I ordered clear boxes from Clear bags. They were .30 each which is a great deal. You can put 14 or 10 nuggets in the box I got. Just depending on how you arrange them.
