Modge Podge and Ink Jet Printers

Can I use modge podge over a picture that has been printed with an ink jet printer or will the ink run?? thanks

I don't know for sure, but I would think it would run. I accidentally set a drink on a recipe I printed with my ink jet for just a second and it's not even legible in that spot anymore.

It seems like maybe you could use a spray sealer though.

Joan - if you zap it with clear acrylic spray first, you'll be able to mod podge it. Been there, done that.

Ooo that's a wonderful tip! I'm working on a giant coaster and I was unsure about modpodging the printed tissue paper. It's like photo coasters except it's 12x12 tile and I am treating it like a scrapbook layout with giant photo.

I made a project for DH and printed the pics out at home, then mod podged over them. I did not encounter any running, smearing, etc. I was worried about it too. Something to note: I used my Kodak photo printer to print these pics out. I've been told that this printer puts a special coating on the photos to make them water resistant.

regular floor tile...in light neutral color

I put mod podge over a lot of printed images. I also use heavy gel medium. Neither of them run, and both protect the image.

Depends on the ink, my Epson didnt run (the Durabrite inks are waterproof) but my newer HP does run...

Sure, I am attempting (LOL) to take some pictures and add them to this set of Memory Blocks that I got somewhere!!! I think by My Mind's Eye(?). It will make a 9 block puzzle like thing. It is for a co worker who recently had a baby. Obviously, I haven't gotten very far with this project, but I'll post it when I'm finished.

I made a countdown clipboard and Mod Podged over it. It did not smear. It sat for quite some time after printing before I did, don't know if that made any difference. I too wonder if it depends on the type of ink and possibly the absorbency of the paper. Can you print a small mock up and give that a try before covering the whole project?
