What was wrong with your trimmer?
Is it from the SU! catalogue?

Wow good for you. I actually put in an email to the headquarters yesterday asking if they have improved the blade arm at all so that it cut straighter, wondering if I will hear back from them or not.

no, this is not the one from the SU! cataloge...these are the grey and orange ones with those plastic ruler things that the cutter slides up and down. well it was cutting my paper crooked. no matter what i did, i just can't get a straight cut. so a few weeks ago, i contacted Fiskars and they sent me replacement plastic ruler thingies. well that didn't work because i had the same problem. this seems to be a design flaw. tha plastic stretches thus letting the cutter wobble. so your paper is crooked. anyways, fired up about all this(i bought two of these cutters and they both stink) i called them before and they are replacing the paper trimmer entirely. i just hope it's not another crapy one.

Wow, Loretta, I was coming on to give an update on the Fiskars thing I had posted about several days ago...and here you are!
I got my new trimmer Friday and it does cut an 11" piece of paper into two pieces 5-1/2" EXACTLY. So cool. Otherwise it looks exactly the same as the original one.
Fiskars was very nice to work with!
Hugs,
Betsy

fiskars trimmer
I called the 800 number that was posted here last week and talked with a very accommodating woman who promised to send me another trimmer. It arrived via the 'brown guy' 3 days later and cuts perfectly.
Thank you to the person who posted the number.

I wonder if they will replace mine. I have had it for a while and have always been disappointed that it did not cut strraight. I have both the 8.5 an 12 inch cutters. I never take them to demos because of the cutting line it produces. :(

wow, so it's really a flaw they corrected? I gave up on my fiskars and bought a cutterpede. Cuts beautifully! Just doesn't help my sales when I have it at workshops :(
Please let us know if your replacement works better!

I've contacted Fiskars and we'll see what happens!

I emailed Fiskars consumer affairs about both my trimmers (8.5 and 12") and they are replacing both of them. I haven't received them, maybe today!?.

Fiskars has great Customer Service! I have two corner punches of theirs and one worked only briefly before eating my cardstock and not letting it go! I tried putting it in the freezer (as was recommended by some gals!), I tried pushing the "teeth" of it through from the underside of it, to no avail. The other one only worked if I pushed the teeth back thru after each punch.
They sent me two new punches and they work much better. I have to say that EK Success's Corner Adorner Slot punches work a lot better.

fiskars cutter replacement
first...I'll apologize if this is posted twice....my cat jumped on the keyboard and the window disappeared!
Did you need to supply any proof of purchase or send it back to them or anything? I've had mine for so long I'm sure I don't have a receipt anymore.
Also, does anyone know the model number of the new purple one in the SU catalog. I have one that looks very similar...but it's blue. I'd gotten it at Michaels when I became frustrated with my old black/orange one. I'd like to know if it's the same so I can talk it up at workshops. S'pose I could always contact SU for that info.

I didnt have to provide anything other than a description. I did not have a receipt or the packaging. When I gave the description, she knew the model number. It was on my doorstep in less than a week.

I completely gave up on my grey and orange fiskars cutter because of the design of the ruler.
I purchased the new style (purple) and now all of my cuts are perfectly straight!.

Wow! I was just thinking I should post something about Fiskars trimmers. I have both sizes and neither cuts straight. The 12in one has already been replaced by the shop I bought it from, but the new one doesn't cut straight either. I have to admit I've been to lazy to do anything about it and just assumed it was a design fault. I was thinking of searching for a new trimmer from a different manufacturer.
But now I will try to contact them and see what they do. However, a friend has a newer model which is useless for we left-handers as the blade just drops out every time you try to use it. Does anyone else have this problem?

Tripple Edge Cutting Blade
I have a Friskers cutter that wasn't cutting straight at all. I went to Michaels in SLC to purchase some replacement blades and by accident grabbed what I thought was the wrong blades and didn't notice until I got home. I live about 3 1/2 hours from SLC when I got home and noticed the mistake I thought what the heck I will try them. They work perfect and have cured the problem and the cutter now cuts straight as an arrow. They are triple groove blades (not sure of exact name). It has a nitch on each side that sits down in the groove on your ruler to keep the blade in place and helps to guide it straight as it cuts. I hope this make sense. Anyway it might be work checking into.

I emailed fiskras back when I saw the original post on the cutters being replaced. They sent me a new ruler for my gray and orange one because it doesn't cut straight. Well of course that didn't fix it so I emailed them again this morning. All I did was tell them the problem of it not cutting straight and gave them my address and they are sending me a new one free of charge within a week. They replyed in just a couple of hours. TOO EASY :P

Well they emailed me back and said something about replacement but didn't say what, so will see. The email was fast, only took a couple of hours this morning, seeing as though I emailed them yesterday :( Wanted to be the first email they seen this morning.. lol.. Hoping it works but maybe they will just send a new one. If they do I should tell them they can have the old ones back ( I have the 12 and 8 1/2 inch ones)!! lol
DH (looking over my shoulder AGAIN!!! ) ;) asked how do they know you really have the cutter if you don't have to send something in?? I told him that they are hoping everyone was honest and not just trying to get a "free" cutter out of it. He thinks there will be someone out there trying for a replacement cutter when they don't have it... I would hope not cause that company is awesome and have an awesome assortment of things.

I'm assuming everyone is talking about the single track trimmer from Fiskars and not the triple track trimmer (the purple and silver one, like the one in the SU catalog). Has anyone had problems with the triple track?

fiskers rotary cutter
Has anyone tried the rotery cutter by Fiskars. I bought one a few weeks ago and it does not cut well at all. It's impossible to get a perfect 5 1/2 cut. I just wondered if anyone thinks that Fiskers would replace one of these cutters. Maybe I could contact Fiskers and ask them if they have any suggestions first. I might just be doing something wrong, but I would like to think that it the cutter and not me.

I have had the rotary cutter for years-I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! I t cuts perfect and so fast. It took me a while to get the hang of changing blades and screwing the screw in correctly. But I truly love this cutter.

I emailed them about my 12" cutter (orange & grey) and they answered me back within 24 hours. They said they would replace mine. The problem with mine was that it was not only cutting crooked, but the blade would pop out of the ruler groove. It fit so loosely that I had to really press down hard when making a cut. I'll see how the new one works when I get it, and if it is the same way, I'll look into a different brand to buy.

thanks for posting this about the cutters, I kept thinking it was operator error and I stopped using it, I replaced blade after blade, and I was so angry.....wooohooo I do know how to cut my paper. I just called Fiskars and they asked me all sorts of questions I don't know the answers to so I will call them again when I get home. Thanks again, I am hoping they will take mine back to.

I got my replacement trimmer today, delivered by UPS. The whole process took about 2 weeks. Yeah, now I am cutting straight and accurate.

Fiskars contacted me regarding my inquiry but are sending me a new plastic ruler and a new 8.5 cutter. I am really bummed that they are not replacing the larger one. I don't know if I should ask for the larger one to be replaced or deal with what they are sending me. After al, they have been nice enough to replace it for free.

YAY
I just wanted to say thank you for this post! I e-mailed Fiskars since I too have had this problem and they are sending a replacement for both my 9" and 12" paper trimmers! YAY! I would never have thought to complain if it were not for you all!
Thanks and Hugs
