I'm working on some cards to send to MommaPatti (see this thread... Forums at Splitcoaststampers). I'm struggling with boy cards. For a girl, flowers work but I don't have anything boyish. What would you use if you had to make a sympathy cards for parents who lost a baby boy? What about a baby-ish giraffe? I also have a stamp of a "onesie." Do you think that's OK to use? Just stamp it in a color that matches the card.
I wish I had a teddy bear stamp. I do have one, but it's hugging a cross. Do you think that would be OK? The committee that is in charge of sending the cards could probably ascertain whether it's appropriate for the family, I would think.

This is always a sensitive topic, so I understand your struggle.
When I am in doubt I use a butterfly stamp. Used in the appropriate colours I believe it can be tastefully done.

The teddy bear with the cross sounds like a good idea. Again I guess you would find out for sure from the committee. I know if I were in that situation any card showing how much you care would be greatly appreciated. No matter what you make it's going to come from the heart and i'm sure that will show thru.
I think the link must be in the demo only section b/c i can't open it.
My personal thought is that if they lost a baby, I wouldn't want to make a card with baby images to remind them again of the loss, but that's just me. I would do flowers or foliage as if any other sympathy card.
I don't know though for certain, it's just my first thought on it.

I totally agree. I would have a hard time with anything "baby" if I'd lost one of mine... a more generic image would be more appropriate IMHO.
As a mom who lost a baby at 20 weeks - a baby image is perfectly appropriate, as is any image. There was a limited supply challenge about this quite awhile back....let me find the link.
Thanks for posting that link, Barb! I thought there was something attached to that challenge that mentioned sending the cards to Patti if you didn't have a use for them, but I can't find it now. I tried to PM Jen but she needs to empty her PM box!
I would have to consult Patti on this, and she is busy with family today and hasn't yet answered my PM but I believe that baby images are OK, but I understand where some of you are coming from. I think though, that with the situation they're in with the NICU and all that those deaths are a little different and those nurses put everything they have into creating memories for those parents, etc. Patti makes 6x6 scrapbooks for the parents to use, also.
Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone for the input! I did get 8 cards of 4 different designs done today and I hope they'll be OK for them to use. I'm uploading them to my blog in a little while, and will also do so here on SCS if I have time. Thanks again!
I reached Jen70, and she directed me to the challenge that specifically asked for cards for the NICU, found here... Forums at Splitcoaststampers
If anyone is interested in helping, and is unable to view the thread that's in the RAK forum, you can just repeat this challenge! Patti will graciously appreciate everyone's help!
I think the cards you made are beautiful. I'm sure the parents will appreciate them.
This past May, my sister lost her baby 3 1/2 weeks before her due date. She loved every card she got--those with just flowers and those with baby images on them. My sister clung to everything she could get her hands on to remind her of her baby--baby blankets, foot/hand prints of her baby, a locket of hair, every picture she had of herself pregnant. She has scrapbooked all of it and cherishes it all.
So from that perspective, I think baby images are completely appropriate. When she sees the baby images/items, it helps her know that her baby was real.
Thanks again everyone for the advice. I did hear from Patti, and she said that when the last request went out she received images of all kinds and all of them were used.
And to the "anonymous" commenter on my blog post, thanks so much for ruining my day. You find it sad that (you think) I'm using this whole thing to direct traffic to my blog??? I don't need to direct traffic to my blog, I have traffic! I find it sad that you felt the need, on a day that were supposed to give thanks for everything we have, to be so hateful and mean. And to boot, you don't have the nerve to use your own name! I published your comment... betcha' didn't think I would, did you!? I'm praying for you!
I am also making cards for this and I am making some that are flowers, some foliage , some with a cross on it, and some baby. They are very touchy to make. I believe you will do fine on your cards.
Tammy, thanks for posting this. I don't look at the wishrak group much. I am glad you posted this because now I can sit down and stamp some cards for this. And don't let the anonymous person get you down. I didn't think that is what you were doing at all. And your cards are gorgeous. Very appropriate.

I saw that comment too and thought it was awfully mean spirited. You are doing a wonderful thing and the parents will LOVE the cards you've made.

Hi Tammy
I think your cards are beautiful and perfect! I especially like the butterfly one you did
Regarding your *not brave enough to post her name* on your blog....don't sweat it.....karma has a way of dealing with attitudes like that!
Have a great Thanksgiving weekend. I am thankful for people like you, ones that do good deeds from the heart!

I never could understand the whole "traffic to your blog" stuff... what's the big deal??? It's not like you get money or something every time someone clicks on your blog, right? Good grief... between peeps thinking having a gazillion comments in their gallery and the nonsense with blog traffic, you'd think it was the cure for cancer or something...
Tammy, don't sweat it. You're doing a great thing here... sorry some biatch ruined the good feelings...
and isn't it ironic that she probably created MORE traffic to your blog by being snarky?

Amen, I've heard of this cause and have participated in it, but I've never been to Tammy's blog until today.

WHAT???? You mean I don't get paid every time someone goes to my blog??? Here I thought that's what it was all about! LOL
Seriously, thank you everyone for the kind comments! You truly helped me just let the whole thing just roll off my back today! Your thoughts were greatly appreciated! Hugs and blessings to you!
