Splitcoaststampers.com - the world's #1 papercrafting community
You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
I just saw a full page ad in Papercrafts from CTMH. They are holding a 2 day (I think) scrapbooking retreat for anyone. You get $300 worth of products, etc. (don't know the registration fee).
That got me thinking!!
I'm not into scrapbooking, so I'm encouraging all stamp/papercraft companies to consider hosting weekend retreats for customers (not just demos). Large companies have the resources to manage this, but smaller companies would need to band together like Gina K, Papertrey and Stamping Bella are doing with their cruise.
A week long cruise is out of the range money wise and/or time wise for most of us, but a weekend might work.
May I humbly start the ball rolling by suggesting a few of my faves -- in addition to our cruise companies: Lockhart Stamps, Impression Obsession and Cornish Heritage Farms.
I am willing to accept free registration and air fare for coming up with this suggestion.

Can I suggest Honolulu HI, I live here this way I don't have to travel far. I can't make the cursie cause I can't make it to Florida! So maybe something here. I will supply the sunscreen!!!

Okay---i vote for New England, now it isn't warm this time of the year, but a fresh snowfall is pretty and maybe we could get snowed in and have to spend a few extra days stamping or scrapping!
Joan! You're brilliant! You're right, the cruise is beyond me, both monetarily and time-wise with three kids still in school. But a long weekend . . .oh where do I sign!!!
Pick Seattle!! It's sunny and nice in Summer (the rest of the family can come too, and go boating or hiking), and in the winter there's skiing for the rest of the family. On top of all that I have connections for the Washington State Convention and Trade center AND Meydenbauer (where CK holds their convention in WA) where we can hold the event!!

Gosh, you guys make the wheels turn don'tcha? Great idea. I've been trying to talk several of my company friends into a techniques weekend retreat. Being near Branson isn't a bad pull. Virginia IS pretty. Lived there for a while too. I guess in a way I am truly split coast, I've lived in Richmond and San Francisco and I'm back in the midwest where I started. Also spent several months in both Florida and New Mexico for summer jobs. Hmmm...so I like all the locations!
May i suggest New Mexico AND Virginia? Two retreats and ALL of the country can get to one or the other (and maybe a 3rd one in Hawaii so we could have a tropical version - since AFB gal is providing the sunscreen).
I'll take free registration & air fare too, for solving the dilemma!
I'm in Massachusetts...but I'd pay for the plane ticket to anywhere around the US for three-four days. That's soooo do-able! I can't ever see being able to do more than for days that without hubby aboard for vacation. Ooohhhh..I would so be there...and so would my sister...it would be PERFECT!

Hmmm...I own a company...AND I live in Virginia so the Virginia thing works for me...
My friend Sarah (from The Paper Cut) and I were discussing doing a very similar thing here next year.
I'm not totally sure how my 2008 is shaping up commitment-wise but I'm open to the idea...
Mitra
Impression Obsession
Mitra, YES!!! You know you can do this. Think of the promotional opportunities. The fame, the fun, the networking, the ability to bring a smile to a young stamper's face (hahahahaha)....Tons of room in VA Beach or Williamsburg. Think off season for cheaper rates. Think of my brownie cheesecake, which I will make just for you!!!
Think of your design team.....

Oohhh, Pensacola is beautiful. And March or April would be perfect weatherwise, not too hot, and not hurricane season! Can I put my name down now?
Well I know that there *are* SU! retreats held all over Alabama....several times a year actually...that you get classes and product as part of the package...as well as food and lodging....
so they are out there...just not done on a company wide scale or as grand...
