Default Less Expensive Aqua Painter Alternative

I have seen many threads about the aqua painters not being available, and the expense of the ones at Michaels. Here is a website where you can get : Aqua Flo Watercolor Brush set of 3 small, medium, large for $6.99,yes $6.99 for a set of 3 !

Here is the link: http://www.KraftyatKrafts.com/product/GMB_WC3BRUSH

I have had mine for over a year and got them at this website, and they work great!

Yes, shipping is $2.85 for regular or you can get priority for $3.85 I believe!

I found a 3 (small, medium, and large size) pack for $5.00 at AC Moore in PA on Saturday. Don't know if there is an AC Moore close by anyone that is looking for them.

A word of caution - Yes, these are a cheaper version but they do not have the water flow control device found in the Kuretake models. I don't have the SU Aqua Painter, but based on the price I'm assuming it does have the water flow control feature. The Aqua-Flo brushes can be unpredictable in their "spitting" of water at very inopportune times. I saw a hint somewhere about placing a small piece of sponge in the opening above the brush to provide a little more control and I have found that does help somewhat, but it is still kind of like "watercoloring roulette" when I'm using one of them. I bought these at the stamp store when the new catty just came out. These don't have the flow control, but the water isn't pouring out of the tip, and I've never had any trouble with performance of these.

Default I have these too..

I've bought these too and find they work wonderfully for coloring in. I use my craft ink pads for color.

Thanks, Lastel!

I've been scouring my local Joann's Crafts and Michael's stores the past 2 weekends in search of these... none to be found!

The link said out of stock, but I did a seach for "Aqua-Flo Watercolor Brushes" on ebay and it was my lucky day - I found a few sets being sold. 1 of the sellers was selling 6 of the brushes (2 packs of 3) for 8.50 so I bought those - YEA  ! And the shipping was even cheap! Now I can have a set for water and a set for Future... ah, my Pearl Ex is calling me now... must go color something.

They were in the back in the art section ...near other paint brushes.

I have the Aqua Flo brushes and as previously mentioned, they do not have the intricate water flow valve or the tiny sponge. That is where the cost differential comes to play. I prefer the model with the water flow valve since you can control the amount of water coming into the brush.
The Aqua Flo brushes send a big blob of water through, whereas the other model has this minute filter that releases a very small amount of water into the brush.
I guess you could use a paper towel once you squeeze the water to absorb the overflow and that might take care of the problem.

I bought these before SU started selling the aqua painters. They just drip, drip, drip water. I do not like them at all. Vicki

I guess some like them and some don't. I have had mine for more then a year and have not had any trouble with them. You don't want to squeeze them over your project to get the water into the brush. Brush any excess on a paper towel, just like any paint brush. I just used mine yesterday with no problem.
Some day I will order the Su ones when they are not having trouble getting them shipped. In the meantime these are great, and I would put bleach and floor wax in these before I would the more expensive ones. I think I would just use the more expensive ones for water, for fear I would ruin them.
