What does everyone spend on an average per month on this obsession?
I was just wondering what everyone is spending on an average per month on their stamping supplies. I want the real figures not what we tell our dh's. LOL!
I don't even want to think about this.....I would have to confess....I know this month I have spent about $70.00 so far......and we are only into the middle of the month. Don't let my DH see this....LOL
I try to stick to $100 per month. I even put money into a seperate account with great intentions, but it doesn't always work because if I really "need" something then I just get it with my regular money. I do feel guilty if I have to do that though, so does that count?
I spend my $300/quarter with SU...so that's a $100/month. Then I spend $50-75 more either online or at local stores. And I'm a hoarder....I must quit that!!!
Geeze why ask such a LOADED question!!! ;) When I was a little girl my Mom used to hide all the fabric and patterns she bought from my Dad. I just refuse to think about it. It sorta goes in spurts. Also I would definitely spend less if I would stay off of this site! (LOL) and not go to Archivers every weekend!
I spend what I make at my papercraft classes. :-) That's why I teach them! Usually I spend about $100 a month, which includes my supplies and my have-to-haves. LOL
Seriously, it varies by month and what I'm doing and what's on sale. (I *try* to never pay full price unless it's something small or I need it right now.)
I'm up over $300 for this month already, but in October I spent only about $20 so that balances out, right? ;)
So much of what I spend is on the kids at school rather than just myself so I can justify it that way. The big expenses this month was on supplies for the kids to make Christmas cards.
I am already over $200 this month between LSS and all of the wonderful online vendors and SU of course!! In my defense, I have spent a fortune on my christmas cards and craft projects!! But I am like everyone else, some months I dont buy anything, so it balances out. Atleast, that is what I keep telling myself....
I just wanted to make sure that i'm not over doing it. It seems like we all spend way too much. I have a credit card that i use for only my craft purchases and it was over $800 last month. I did buy a cricut, but that was only $199! And this month i've spent about $100 so far, and still want a whole bunch of other stuff. Trying to say no to myself is a problem. LOL
Well, obviously, no one can tell you you're spending too much! That would depend on your financial situation. Recognize that some of the people you see who seem to have everything usually have an income to support it--whether that's from regular employment (not me) or from stamp/papercraft related income. If stamping *is* your business, then there is a certain amount of stuff you accumulate and fund through your business.
I'd hate to see anyone go into debt for stamping, as tempting as I know that can be. Sometimes I've had to be very patient (not my strength!) while acquiring everything I think I need! LOL After a while, you'll find that you have cardstock on hand, plenty of ribbon, and enough tools to build a papercrafted mansion. :-) That doesn't mean I don't still see way too much that I want, but I'm at a point where it has to be "special" for me to really *need* it. Something that fills a niche in my supplies.
believe me, i almost passed out when i opened up my statement! That's not a normal amount for me to spend. I try to keep it at $100 a month, that's managable for me. We are eating alot of pasta and beans this month! lol
I am a retired teacher and I substitute a couple of times a month for stamping money. My husband says that is silly because we can afford my stamping supplies out of our account. He has no idea what he is saying! He is the one who is silly.

Ditto...! But I don't spend all my craft money on stamping - I quilt, and knit, and bead, too - - so I have lots of stashes and hoards of all sorts of supplies
I hoard WAY TOO MUCH... but it's so nice to have all of the supplies to pull from and so many options...

More than I'm willing to admit to! I'm in two stamping clubs and seriously addicted - so it's at least $100.00/month and generally far more! I work alot of hours to support my family so this is my one vice and I generally do buy what I want without too much censure!
It seems hard to beleive after being in the hobby since 1995 I actually could still need/want things!! They just come out with some incredible designs and I make 30+ cards month on average so I also go through a lot of consumables!!!

Andi
That is tooo funny, If he only knew..... shh I won't tell.
This is like asking a woman what her age is!!!! I refuse to tell, because I don't want to see the truth in print!
PS: probably between 150 and 250 p/mo.

I don't know to be honest! My spending recently has been pretty high, but then for about nine months or so prior to September, I hadn't been crafting at all due to house moves and renovation etc. So for that time I had no spending.
I have spent a lot recently, but I view it as a catch up ;) Normally, I'd like to think I will probably limit to about 50ish a month. Hopefully I'm going to start to offset at least some of that with selling stuff.
Mine goes in spurts too! I know I'm at about $300 this month because I'm late in gathering supplies for my Christmas cards and handmade gifts. I've probably spent more than that though.. I'm just not willing to admit it!
I'm a don't-buy-anything-for-months-then-splash-out kind of gal. I only spent $30 last month and won't be spending anything this month or next but in January I'm gonig to sign up to be a SU demo then put in a big order .... :o
I went through the su catty and picked out all of my Christmas gifts. People don't have to go shopping for me, they just have to go to the big box in the guest room. Do I have to count that as money I spend on stamping? I'm thinking I don't.
I haven't really gotten into stamping yet, I will really get into it next month. But for my other hobbies sometimes it's 1000$ a month and then other months it is 0$. It really just depends on what I am needing at the moment.
I've been talking with my friend about how we are going to keep my spending habits down for stamping and I kept thinking yeah right lol.
