Default Stamping 101

Ok, seriously, this is going to sound so dumb, but what do you do?

I know its more than getting a white cardstock card and throwing some ink on a stamp and placing it on the paper.

Walk me through your steps and how you make your cards adorable!

Practice, practice, practice!

I have resigned myself to the notion that I don't do card layouts very well on my own. I have to look at someone else's idea to get me started.

Decide what it is you like about certain people's cards and then imitate that feature!

Also, you can get color ideas from magazine ads, clothing, packaging, etc. You can also get layout ideas from scrapbook pages as well as cards.

Look at the sketch challenges, helps a lot with layouts. I enjoy doing them cause they really help when I know what stamp I want to use and the colors but have no clue how to throw it all together. Also look in the gallery, wow sometimes very intimidating, but also very inspirational.

Be discovered by someone in your area who's holding a card making camp - then attend. Also - find your local scrapbook store and see when they schedule classes.

I was pleasantly surprised to do both.

I had posted that I'd never attended a camp before and was contacted by a gal in my town who saw my post. Soon after that I found a close-by scrap book store and - ah ha! They hold classes!

Check out the tutorial in "Resources." They give step-by-step instructions for a variety of techniques and projects. Also, if you have a particular stamp set and you're stuck for ideas, look up the name of that set in the gallery. You can see what other people have made with the same stamp set!
