Here's a question that came up in reponse to the shopping list for the November Mini VSN. Can you substitute photo paper for glossy cardstock?? Has anyone tried this??

I have some of each on my shelf. Haven't tried stamping on the photo paper.
Just checking the "weight" of each kind, I would have to say the the photo paper is thinner. It might not hold up for making an entire card. Maybe okay for a layer. But, as I said, I haven't tried stamping on it.

I have tried stamping on it and I was not happy with the results. The paper is thin and it seems to eat up the ink. The coloors fade almost as soon as I stamp them. I also accidently put some glossy to print a photo on. The black stayed wet and it seemed to have almost a 3-D effect. Not a good thing. I say stamp on a small sheet see if you like your results. I only know I did not.
I had no problems with photo paper, so long as the photo paper was CHEAP (as in dollar store paper). When I used the good stuff, I had issues with fingerprinting and it bubbles when you heat it. I haven't tried actually using the cheap stuff to print photos, but so far it works fine for stamping.
I tried polished stone with the dollar store photo paper and it worked fine, just be quick because it seems to get sticky with the alcohol. I also found out the makeup pads are NOT a subsitute for cotton balls when doing this. I think I would use felt next time.
I've used glossy photo paper for an ink and twist technique and was not happy with the results. The color was very dull, and I used good su ink spots for the technique. I'm still needing to order su glossy, but won't waste my efferts on photo paper again.
