Question Men Gift Ideas

I need to save a little bit of money this year so I am making a bunch of gifts. I am at a stand still with the men. Any good gift ideas for them.....? The Ladies always love what I make them...but the guys are a little bit harder. Thanks!

I think you can make them some of the same items, just in a masculine fashion. I sold some of the coaster notepad holders to some friends whose kids have male teachers. The giant wood paperclips with a masculine theme would be good. A name frame with pictures of their family. I think all of those would work for men too. Just no pink and flowers, lol!

One of the things I do is make trail mix and put it in a stamped decorated quart paint tin.

Something practical like a bunch of cards for all the occasions they will have during the year (and a little calendar too if they're prone to being forgetful!)

Or stamped notepaper and envelopes. I wrap it with a paper band and pop it in a box and it looks really nice.

I give both of those to my brothers and dad every year and they're always really well received. I just change the designs I do each year.

Just a couple of ideas

I saw somewhere here that a stamper made a "man" pack of cards. It had a birthday card, anniversary card, valentine, and an I'm sorry card. I thought that was a great idea.

I've done small scrapbooks for some of the men in my life. I wasn't sure how they went over until my dad was telling me how he always shows it to company (and I saw it out on his coffee table). My husband also has an accordian book on his desk at work. Also altered frames with a photo would be good. Or as other posters suggested food items.

Last Christmas I made two altered notebooks for my DH. We use one to keep all our game scores in (it's kind of fun to look through the old dominos scores from when different people visited us and played), and the other is for his fantasy sports league notes.

I also made up some altered Crystal Light and tea containers to give to friends; here's one of the "manlier" ones:

For one of my stamping classes we did snowman poop for golfers. It was a plastic sleeve containg 3 golf balls, tied up with ribbon & tag with the snowman poop poem.

I've personalized the Starbucks decoratable travel mugs and filled with a Starbucks gift card - went over very well.

What about doing something themed, like their favorite sports team or something. You could use the teams colors and the sports stamps. You could do a paint can or something and fill it with popcorn, a bowl, a drink cozie, etc. Then they would have that to use when they watched their favorite team. Just an idea!

That is a great idea!! Along the same lines, last year I made my hubby a frame with his fav team's name decorated in it--he loved it and put it right above his computer. Cased it from another splitcoaster--i think the pic and case credit are in my gallery, good luck!!

Decorated Fishing/Camping/Hunting Journals are a thought (if they do any of that) So they can keep track of favourite trips/catches. My father in law keeps a fishing journal with my D.H. It's an amazingly sentimental reminder of the weather & fishing they've endured together, lol. ;0)

If you know any men who make their own wine or beer, personalized labels make a nice gift and they go on easily with a glue stick.

The girls on the list are a little easier than the men, I think ;) .
What about a lunch tin decorated in the friends favorite colors and filled with some Spa goodies to make the popular SPA TIN? I love this idea myself and there are so many nice bath products out there that are on sale all the time like Victoria Secret etc. add a similar in scent votive candle and votive candle holder, a loofah sponge or shower poof and you are good to go. There are still ladies out there that won't buy themselves a nice bubble bath or lotion and that would be the occasion;) . For the ladies that like to do their toes, how about putting some bath fizzers, foot lotion, toe seperator, nail clippers and some neutral color nail polish and nail jewels together? You can even put a foot brush in it too! Card sets are always welcome I found too.
There are some really nice ideas here on SCS. I see a lot of altered composition books with matching pens.
Even the men like the post-it-holder frames. I know I made my hubby one in his favorite colors and he does use it .

Hope this helps

Ps.: For the men that like chocolate. What about a metal tin decorated (any size is fine) and filled with truffles or his favorite other chocolates?

I made for the guys last year altered clip boards with their fav team on them and a calander and a pic of the family. A cork note square. They loved them. Even my BIL who usually opens whatever we give and throws it to the floor.

How about a Paint Can filled with some of his favorite munchies.

I made one last year for our Nephew And I filled it with M&M's and Popcorn.

Which he Loved! Plus he had a place to put other muchies for later.

Home made cookies, or other goodies would be a good thing too.

You might want to try making coasters by stamping on ceramic tiles. I know some men who have really liked this. When I was at a craft show, I even had a man buy a set of coasters I made! Just make sure they don't look too feminine.

I find that homemade calendars go over really well, for both male & female. I made them for my BILs a couple years ago, with the family birthdays on them, and both BILs loved them. My MIL has been asking for one for the last 2 years. So I'll make one for her this year, plus one for my DH to put up in his cubicle. I also made one for my grandparents a couple years ago, with pix of all the grandkids/great-grandkids.

Food, Food, FOOD! My brother actually told me to always give him consumable gifts! He really likes to try different kinds of coffees and jams.

I gave my son's school counselor (and scout master) a set of 10 hand-stamped cards a couple of years ago. Most of them were masculine, all-occasion cards and then I remembered he had a teenaged daughter, so I made three teenaged girl cards (birthday, thank you, any reason) for him to give her. He is a single dad, and he has full custody of his kids and his wife isn't involved with them very much. I also gave him a post-it holder with matching pen and some food items. He loved the gift and told me it was his favorite one and his daughter loved the cards so much, she asked me if she could come over and stamp with my daughter some time. It was a huge hit with him, and had the additional benefit of his daughter getting a little much needed feminine attention!

Decorated popcorn sleeves or Jiffy Pop with a Movie gift certificate is another guy idea.

I made a care package for my 18 year old brother who is a freshman in college. It included Chocolate chip cookies etc... but the first thing he thanked me for were the scrapbook pages/layouts I made for him to hang in his room. He loved them! Just goes to show, you never know till you try.

Just remembered something my DH and I did for his 2 brothers a few years ago for Christmas. At the time they were both bachelors, far from family & friends. They both love my chili. So we made a huge batch of chili and canned it for them, even typed up the recipe so they didn't have to depend on me in the future. Talk about a big hit!!

My brother loves to give homemade CDs with selected music that he knows that person will like, or even music from their church. So I'm making CD cases for him this year. The presentation will be nice, compared to what he's done in the past.

Just check out Resources for a couple of different CD cases.

I have found the men in my life very receptive to pretty much anything homemade or handmade for them. Consumables are always #1. In a paint can, appropriately decorated for the receiver/occasion, (my DH & BIL are HUGE Dallas Cowboys fans!) I put my world-famous party-mix. Cookies, flavored popcorn, usually some chocolates, and little single-sized bottles of alcohol varieties all fit easily in the can. It doesn't have to be expensive, just tailored for the recipient, and it will be appreciated without being tossed into the back of the closet.

Default nice gift

I received a birthday gift of this choosing and really liked the idea, since CD are expensive. I may have to try that for myself for Christmas music, from my old cassettes, also

Once, I made my boyfriend a magnet out of the old SU retired stampset that has the computer and the life bytes stamp in it...(can't remember name of stampset...)...

Anyhow...

You take one of those HARD plastic baseball card sleeves, and you cut background cardstock to fit into it...then you stamp the computer image on lighter cardstock, cut it out around the stamped image itself...(not a rectangle, but the stamped image's SHAPE)...then you stamp life bytes on the computer screen, adhere it to the background paper, stamp the back with the SU angel policy stamp, put it inside the baseball card sleeve, and then affix a magnet to the back, and viola...you have a neat men's gift!!!

You can also find a template someplace online for tiny whole-year 2008 calendars, print those on cardstock, stamp tiny background stamps on the printed calendar, cut out, adhere to background paper as above and do all other steps as above...

hope this helps...

oh oh oh...and don't forget bookmarks...

Teena

PS--I have a men's stocking stuffer swap going in the SU section of SCS...won't you join us???

Try this in decorated tins, it's addicting.
Seasoned Oyster Crackers

Ingredients:

* 12-16 oz. plain oyster crackers
* 1 pkg. Hidden Valley ranch buttermilk dressing mix
* 1/4 tsp. lemon pepper
* 1/2 to 1 tsp. dillweed
* 1/4 tsp garlic powder
* 3/4 to 1 cup salad oil

Mix:

* 3/4 to 1 cup salad oil
* Hidden Valley mix

Add rest of ingredients except crackers

Pour over crackers and mix

Warm in over 15 to 20 minutes at 200 degrees

Thank you! Your idea is great as well!! My husband and I moved into a new house and we have an office now that he has decorated with stuff he has collected of his favorite team. Your idea would be a great gift to give him for the office!!

I plan on doing this idea for my daughter's girlfriends for hs graduation--some of their favorite things from our house and snacky things that would work with a dorm room's appliances.
