I use Canvas more than any other background stamp, so that's my vote!

I voted for Weathered - it's my all time favorite ... but ... Linen and Aida are pretty close behind! Hard choice ~ they are all great! I still think Weathered!!!

Linen is the best of the choices you have listed.. but an aged text background is great too.

I like all of them, but I voted for Linen. If they had brought Linen out at the same time they brought Canvas out, I would have gotten Linen instead. As is it, I have Canvas.

Sweet boys, by the way!!

I voted Canvas because the texture is between Linen and Aida. But actually my favorite is not on your list: SANDED. It looks so great stamped alone or over designer paper. It is great for pretty card designs as well as guy cards etc.

Happy purchasing!

I have linen and weathered. As for faves, for me, it's definitely Linen, just because it goes with pretty much anything and gives a subtle texture that doesn't shout itself out. Weathered is great for guy cards, nature themed cards, and the like, so I don't use it as much even though it's wonderful.

I use my Linen BG more than any others. Some people can't believe how real it looks; they think it is textured card stock. I also like sanded for an aged/distressed look. I prefer that over weathered. It really depends on your tastes.

I vote for canvas. It is like the basic black dress of background stamps. It is simple enough to be layered with other bg's or by itself for a variety of styles. Or, it can be dressed up with pearls and pretties.

i voted for weathered.

i love it, it is so versatile.

i also have and love canvas. either would be great choices.

BUT... sanded is on my wish list and would also make a good one to have.

good luck!

I am a bit confused. Are you all talking about generic background stamps or specific stamps from a specific company?

I'm relatively new here and am wondering if you all order certain stamps from a certain company. It would seem that not all "aida" or all "linen" backgrounders would necessarily be the same.

TIA!

I love them all but voted for Linen. I, too, love the new Sanded. The only one I don't have is Aida, and that is on my list for this month. All these background stamps serve a different purpose, so it's just a matter of the type of card you like to make as to what you might consider getting. You can't really go wrong with any of them.

I own all four (I'm a junkie) but if I had to pick just one, it would have to be Linen.

I voted for canvas. I have weathered and love it. I also have linen but seem to have a hard stamping with it and getting an even coverage. I also love sanded and have it ordered right now.

I voted linen, because that is the one I chose when I was trying to make the same decision last year. Some people find it too subtle, though. I studied the cards I had favorited and realised that the majority had linen as the background, so that was how I made my choice. I have since acquired weathered and hope to get sanded this month.
I have also acquired a few unmounted backgrounds from CHF.
http://www.cornishheritagefarms.com/...76_390_194_289
Just to note that some of their backgrounds are smaller than the typical SU background, and can limit the size of the layer you are using.
HTH!

I just ordered Aida cloth. It was a toss up between that and linen but I felt like linen would be easier to find in the future and I could buy it later on. Now watch, they will retire linen and I will be out of luck.

That's what I love about the finer bg stamps! Who says you have to have even coverage? I think that not having even coverage helps give it a bit of an ages look.
Have you tried inking your bg stamps with the rubber brayer? Thats what works for me for those times when I do desire even coverage.

This was such a hard decision for me. I have both weathered and linen and use them both quite often. Weathered works great with some images, but I think linen is more versatile. Now, sanded, otoh, is on my wish list! Seems to be growing in popularity!

I had the canvas stamp and could not get it to ink up. I ruined more cards, so I gave it away. Does anyone like sanded. I saw it used on a card and it looked really nice.

I have all the background stamps you mentioned, except Sanded, and that's on my wish list. I use Canvas the most of those on your list. Could I also recommend Flannel Plaid ... it is perfect for guy cards but is outstanding on country style Christmas cards and can even be elegant if embossed with gold ep. I think, all in all, Flannel Plaid is my favorite background stamp.

I love all of the BG's you have listed. You do need one of the fabric ones. I suggest Linen, for overall flexibility and texture.
