Default Removing stamps from wood and remounting

OK, so in my excitement when I got my first set of stamps (alphabet stamps, no less), I just stuck them on the wood mounts without trimming the excess rubber. I didn't know that I needed to do that first! (I've since learned my lesson and actually READ the instructions on the back of the labels.) Anyway, obviously the extra rubber is grabbing way too much ink, and the stamps are practically useless.

Are there any tricks for taking the foam & rubber off of the wood mount and remounting the stamp after trimming it? The rubber seems pretty stuck on there.

Thanks for your help!

Just stick your stamp in the microwave....yes, you heard right, the microwave, for 5-7 seconds. Take it out and remove the stamp, recut and put it back on!

Hugs and smiles.

I need to do this on a set I traded for.

How do you get the excess sticky stuff off the wood?

Chris,
Whenever I do the microwaving that Beate suggested, the "stick" comes off..it stays on the rubber. Once you micro, if you have stickies, we can all put our heads together....Goo Gone? Mineral oil removes goo, but I don't know that you want oil impregnating the wood...greasy cards..ick.
HTH
Happy Stamping!

I have read that baby powder sprinkled on will remove stickiness. Have never tried it myself but it couldn't hurt to try.

I have often used my exacto knife to trim away unwanted rubber.
But be careful!

 I had to laugh because DH has banned me from using knives! I'm somewhat accident prone.

Thanks for the tips, everyone!

Hi,

I've heard that rubber cement works really well when you need to reapply a stamp !!!
