So, I keep popping over to the elzybells website and looking at them, then putting them in a shopping cart then looking at my total and it's almost $200!
So I delete a few, get it down to $100 and still Im like not budging. I CANT pay that much for 10 stamps!
I know these are wood mounted and cute, I mean really cute. I like them, but I just dont like paying almost $10 per stamp. (That's the total that it comes to when I divide the total by the number of stamps. I realize some of them start at $6 each)
This is the same problem I have with amuse stamps, $7 per stamp is not an economical way to go. I already buy too much, new MFT stamps on the 1st, new papertrey on the 15th, new SU.....new Gina K.......I just cant add another line of stamps.
We have Elzybells over here in the UK (they're a UK based company I believe) and we pay twice that. I bought a gorgeous teddy one ages ago and it was 10.25 which works out at nearly $20!! I agree that they are supercute but expensive like most of the stamps over here. That's why I try to buy as many as I can from the US through the Internet.

Yep. I'm in the UK too, and as with most stamps over here, we pay *a lot*. I love the Elzybells stamps, but have sold most of my collection now as I don't have the room for all the woodmounted stamps. The price is a big part of that too - can't really afford further orders, and the unmounted stamps I now buy from the US etc are rather a lot cheaper, with the exchange rate as it currently stands.
Penny Black, WhipperSnapper etc are all just as expensive over here. I tend to only grab them if I see a really good deal on ebay.
The Elzybells stamps are supercute though, and they make fab cards. I really do love them, just wish I had more space/money!
Amazing how you get spoiled buying stamps in sets!
I can remember paying similar prices for single stamps at the LSS. My major beef with these is that the sentiments are almost as much as the focal image stamps, even though they are only 1/4 of the size. Otherwise, they are very cute and I may treat myself to 2 or 3. But not more than that, alas!

I agree that I HATE paying that much for stamps too. Mainly sentiments.
I understand the image ones since they are larger.
I LOVE the font they have for their sentiments
But seriosuly, despite the cost, they are WAY cute! And As soon as I get paid Im ordering a couple. Yeah like $100 worth! LOL!
Even though they are "winter" themed I am going to attempt to get some for everyday genral use-like the girl with the bird
I NEED the penguins!! Way cute.
In the end Im a stamp-aholic through and through, and if I love it-I buy it
Problem is there are SO many awesome companies that I HAVE to HAVE.
So I understand the wallet crunch. Thats why I have to wait.
Think Christmas-you can ask for GC from your favorite companies or tell your family which ones you want!

Thats what Im doing!
To be honest, I do absolutely love the sentiments, and will probably continue to buy them despite trying to avoid woodmounted stamps in terms of space and cost.
I have kept a few (ok, more than just a few) of the image stamps from Elzybells, because they were just too hard to part with. I did have a whole box full of Elzybells stamps...they are very hard to resist.
The Halloween stamps Elzybells have are just TOO cute.

I'm pretty sure the Elzybells being sold in North America are much smaller versions of the original English ones. They're mostly about 1.5 x 2 inches. What size are yours?

That's interesting. I just looked at the sizes on the ones for North America, and the same bear image I have (D0008 in the NA Winter Collection) does seem to be a bit smaller - the actual rubber on mine measures approx 2.5 x 3 inches. In the UK, the stamp cost me 6.71.
From the ones I sold recently I had the same image as Christmas Dreams (F0056 in NA Holiday Collection), which was definitely way bigger than the size stated there and which I think cost me around 8 to 10. I probably would have kept that stamp if it had been smaller...
Oh and I also had Mouse Bauble (H0004 in the NA Holiday Collection) which was way bigger over here and I think that one cost me about 11 or so. Again, I probably would have been more inclined to keep it if I had the smaller size. As a large stamp it was gorgeous, but as a smaller size it would have been used more.

I love these images, and don't currently have anything like them. I guess I better save up some coins and place an order.....maybe wait until they have spring sets in so that I can get a nice assortment.

I wish they were less expensive, or sold in sets.
I popped in to see the images yesterday and fell in love with them. I was afraid to really check out the prices as I just don't have the time or money for one more stamping line.......but they are so adorable. Darn!!!
Hehe. Elzybells originate in the UK, and it would seem that the stamps that are being released in the US are smaller in size than the ones we have over here, at least from the details on the NA website.
www.elzybells.co.uk is the UK site, where you can download the full catalogues as available in the UK.
There are some sets available in the UK, but I have no idea what they will be releasing in the US.
I think those stamps are super cute but I agree that they are very pricey for the size. I debated ordering a few but I just can't get myself to do it. I finally broke down and bought some Bellas a few weeks ago and those still seemed a bit more than I would pay for one stamp. I guess SU spoiled me with their sets for years!

For me, with the exchange rate, buying Bellas is heaven, not only because they are awesome, but because they seem so cheap in comparison to the majority of UK prices!
I think at the moment just the winter ones are available to you guys :(
I love the Elzybells stamps and can vouch for their quality - they are expensive though so I only own like a tiny fraction of the ones I would like to.
I have the same problem with Penny Black stamps. I love them, but every time I put some in the shopping cart I can't get myself to pay at least 10$ for one stamp. I know I am spoiled with SU's sets. Maybe if the day ever comes that I quit being a demo, maybe then it'll be easier to spend the money.
One of the reasons I was originally prepared to pay for Elzybells stamps when I tend to avoid Penny Black stamps at similar prices is Elzybells' angel policy. Not sure how that policy applies in the US, however.
I love them too..i have down-sized my order to 4 stamps..but love them all..
Reindeer Star
Girl w/sleigh
Girls w/tree
penguin snowflake.
the girls remind me of my 2 granddaughters..they are 6 and 3
loves ya..by the way..yes i feel that they are a bit pricey..too bad..as i would like more..lol.

Lauren they have a winter and a holiday line, they are tiny little links on the blog/website.
I really, really, really want some. That little girl with the bird is too darling. So Im just really trying to decide how deep I want to get into trouble.
Besides SU sets, I'm now being totally spoiled by all the clear sets from MFT and papertrey. It definately makes it harder to go back to buying one sentiment for $7.
I do have a big wishlist as my birthday is right after Thanksgiving and then what doesnt make it for my birthday gets rolled over to Chritsmas. So I'm trying to decide which stamps I just HAVE to have.
Anyway, I just had to share my frustration since I'm not usually a small shopper, if I like something I buy a ton! And a ton of elzybells is a lot of mooolah.
And besides these stamps and all the other gazillion stamps I want, now it looks like I need to invest in a cuttlebug so I can use the nestabilities. It's a good thing my craft room is big, otherwise my DH would really start to be suspicious!

I'm in this same boat. I clicked the link yesterday and FELL IN LOVE! I don't buy many - usually any - other companies unless I know I'm going to use it big time. These stamps are SOOOOOO FREAKIN' CUTE! I want some... I'd like to be able to get non-winter/holiday ones though.

They are cute, but cost more than I would pay for them. If they sold them like Impression Obsession does at 50%off as unmounted without wood or cushion, I would be interested, but otherwise I sure won't be ordering any.
This is Linda, from A Muse. I'm excited to see that you have spotted our Elzybells Ad here on Splitcoast. We are very excited about bringing this stamp line to North America.
I wanted to jump in and answer a few questions that have come up.
Image size:
Some of you have noticed a difference in the size of the stamps we are offering here in North America. We have resized them to better fit our notecards and favorite punches. The size of each stamp is listed below each image on our shopping pages.
Our stamps are made right here in North America by the same manufacturer we use for our A Muse stamps. Our stamps are made with deep-etched red rubber, closely trimmed (by hand with a scroll saw) and mounted on light-colored contoured wood mounts. So you can be assured of the high quality of our Elzybells NA stamps.
More Elzybells
If you visited the UK Elzybells site, you may have noticed many other *adorable* images that are not yet available here. We love them too and will be releasing selected images seasonally. So look for more stamps coming in the weeks and months ahead!
Copyright policy
The copyright policy for Elzybells NA is the same as the UK. You may view the details in the right column under "copyright" on the website at www.elzybellsna.typepad.com.
I agree with all of the above. I did the same thing... loaded up a cart and was then going to delete to a reasonable amount. Then I saw how small they were and was like HUH? And no free shipping til $150. That's really high compared to other similar companies. The sentiments are way too high. I also agree that sets of similar images would be nice....
I just placed a smallish order, $45. This is the first time I didn't over analyze buying stamps. Sure, they're a little pricey, but I really liked the stamps I bought. Usually I have to go back and forth, convincing myself I could actually do something nice with the stamps I buy. Not this time though.
They are supah cuteness! My wish list is large which means I'll probably not get any!!! I agree, selling a few as a set would boost their sales!!!

I broke down and bought a few yesterday. They're just too darned cute. Can't wait to get them. I've never ordered from A Muse before (just buy at my LSS). How long do they take?

I order from A Muse a fair bit and their products, service, and shipping are FAB!! I usually have my stamps in my hot little hands in about 3 days! and I live 1/2 way across the country from where they are located. Linda and her entire staff are such wonderful people who give the best customer service - simply put - they ROCK! (no affiliation, just a very happy long time customer )

I couldn't help but buy some yesterday. They are just too cute. I agree that we are spoiled by the lower prices of sets from SU and other companies. But it seems like amuse is doing well, so there must by plenty of people willing to pay the price for their cute stamps. I would buy more if they were unmounted and cheaper. Instead I just chose 3 of my favorites. I can't wait till they arrive and I can't wait to see what new images will be released.
I was going to buy some, but with shipping to Canada being $15, it would cost me close to $50.00 for 4 stamps. I dont think I can spend that much on only 4 stamps. If I'm paying that much, I'll buy one of the more expensive SU sets that I want. Too bad, they are SO cute!
Hey, Ladies! Just dropping in here with a quick reminder for any scrappers that today is the Preview Party for Virtual Scrapbooking Night (set for November 3-4). The first challenge was uploaded at 1pm CST. Check it out over in the Virtual Scrapbook Night forum!!
Hey, I just have to say I am DELIGHTED that at last Elyzbells is available in North America !! Prior to this I had purchased just a few - and that was via mailing a bank draft to the UK to Elzybells . Let me tell you , that is a LOT more expensive then purchasing them from here in North America!!! I am sorry that they are smaller - as I like a big stamp!
As for saving money by purchasing in sets - well - I don't feel that way at all!! With SU - you pay a lot for a group of stamps, which you may well use only one or two of!!! I would much rather pay for each stamp I want individually. In Canada, SU prices are crazy , especially with our dollar now on par ( or so ) with the US dollar!!! Check out an online Canada SU catty compared to the US catty and you'll be thinking Elzybells is really cheap!!

I have a gorgeous unicorn stamp from Elzybells, which is pretty big. Should probably do some more cards with it! Really, a gorgeous stamp that I felt was well worth the expense. I won't be parting with that one

I have mixed feelings about sets. As you say - you may get a set that you only end up using one or two stamps from. I guess the option is nice though!

SU are coming to the UK in November, so I'll see soon what the prices are like over here. I'm pretty much expecting to be paying more, we usually do for most things. :(
