I hope you don't mind me sharing here, but I am so excited and my 6 year old daughter doesn't get it - so I need to share with someone !! I was doing laundry this am when my doorbell rang and it was the cabinet guy my husband uses (my husband is a home builder). He said my husband sent him over to measure out for a craft space and to find out eactly what I wanted. Mind you I am SO NOT talented, but I like my quiet time to putter around with crafts. I call it my sanity restorer!! Anyway, I have carved out a corner of my kids playroom to put our plastic banquet table and some shelves we bought from a store that went out of business and my oversized desk. He said I can pick what I want and he will get it... !! YEAH !!! Now my corner will be organized and matching !!
I will post pictures when it is done, maybe before and after.
Oh well, thanks for letting me share.
Congrats! I'm sure you will love it, but small warning here - it always won't be as organized as you'd like! heehee At least mine sure isn't!
Enjoy!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!! How exciting!! There's nothing like getting your very own space. To make storage and access easier, you might want to get lots of drawers and not just cabinet shelf space. Drawers make it so much easier to access things quickly. Have fun with the design and be sure to post pictures when you're done so the rest of us can check out your new space!!
I know how exciting it is to get your very own space! I'm STILL, however, working on putting my craft room together after our move 3 months ago. For some crazy reason, these little people living with me insist on needing food, clean clothes, and a ride to school every day! Sheesh!
That's awesome! We just moved to a new house and I finally got my own stamping space. Boy, what a difference it makes. It takes me less time to make a card now that everything is stored together. In our old house all my stuff was in the basement and very disorganized. You are a lucky lady! Congrats and good luck! Enjoy!

How wonderful for you. I'm sure you'll enjoy it immensely. Here's wishing you many hours of creativity there.
My dh did something like that for me a couple of years ago and I love it. I'll be looking forward to seeing pics of your space! That's what mine is...a portion of a guest bedroom that he converted just for me and my stuff. So much nicer than the kitchen table.
I second getting drawers as well as cabinets. My husband made me a scrapbook/stamping center that I designed and my one regret is that I don't have drawers to store my punches and things in. He's offered to make me an island to go with my cabinets and if I can figure out how to get enough space for it I'm definitely going to have drawers in it!
Enjoy your space! I love being able to have my stamps out so that I can work in a little stamping time inbetween family life without having to get everything out and put it away again.
My new husband of a month and a half suggested last night that when my 20 year old daughter moves out, I should take over her room as a "stamping room"
He caught on to the important stuff really quickly!! I think I may have a good thing going here. ;)
Thanks for all the good wishes. I do feel very lucky. I hope now that I'll be getting the new space I will make more time to sit and do stuff. My kids can always sense when I am getting ready to relax, they get ready to POUNCE !! But while they are at school I will make time.
To answer a post I think I am going to get a creamy white cabinet that sanded on the edges so the wood shows through. the room is off white and baby blue.
OOH, congratulations!! There is NOTHING like your own stamp room!!! My best advice is to take a ton of pictures of the progress. It is so fun to look back and see what you have created!!!
I just recently added some shelves to my craft room. I wanted to do cabinets, etc., but just didn't have the money right now. My DH helped me put up some white peg board for tools, rain gutter for ribbon, and some shelves. Eventually I want to extend the shelves to go above my computer desk as well. I also made my own 12 x 12 paper shelf out of some mesh cubes I found on clearance at Shopko. I found the directions for this on someone's blog, and now I can't find which one, so thanks to whomever provided the directions for this. It works great and looks good too. (And much cheaper than purchasing the premade 12 x 12 shelves!) I find I am so much more productive now that my things are organized and I don't have to clean off my table every time I want to stamp.

Get upper and lower cabinets - you'll be so glad you did. You can use those shelves elsewhere. I'll be posting pics soon of my new craft space. I'm waiting for one more part from IKEA to come (table legs, kind of important).
I'm in the middle of moving all my stamp stuff down to our basement. We have a de-humidifier down there and it's clean. I'm so excited to get all my stuff organized because its always such a mess on the little table I have now. Do you have any ideas on how to organize ribbon that isn't on a spool?
Woooo Hooo for U ! I can't wait to see the before and after pics. I love looking at those. I have my own room but I can't seem to keep it organized and usually end up in my dining room on a card table where the light is better. I finally did buy some awesome storage containers and have them filled up already. Have a grand time in your new room. Share some pics when you get them taken. Hooray for you !!!!! Happy Stamping !!!!!!
