Here's my kitty. "Squirrel" yeah thats right a little species identity issue ;) I didn't name him, I inherited him from my boss who named him... but it fits he is awfully squirrely... He also thinks hes a dog.. right down to begging for food and chewing on things. You know the phrase my dog ate my homework? Well, my cat really does! One day I came home and he'd chewed up my idea sheets! Bad cat! I suppose I love him anyways though ;) Its just a good thing he's cute!

Well, since I posted my dog Riley, I better post my cat too. Her name is Priness and she lives up to the name. She's Himalayan and my son and husband gave her to me for Mother's Day 6 years ago.

Eveyone's kitties are so cute. Our cat is Murphy. He has a story, only wish we knew it all. You see, he showed up in my parent's niegborhood last summer and they tried and tried to find his owner. He had been de-clawed and nuedered (is that how you spell it?) so he was obviously someone's pet. After 3 months of trying to find his owner we took him in and it has been love ever since! Although he's siamese he's very quiet and doesn't meow much.....usually only in the morning when he wants his breakfast! LOL! And he LIKES to eat! He has "grown" a bit since he came to be with us!

Jan, My kitty was a stray too! He was about a year when I got him. I worked at a vet clinic and one of our clients brought him in just to get him checked up and get his shots and leukemia tested before she tried to find him a home. Well, when the vet walked him Squirrel flipped over on his back and wanted his belly rubbed. That is the only time I ever saw my boss keep a stray! Originally he was just supposed to be an office cat. We already had two cats that just lay around the office all day. Well turns out Squirrel was just a little too squirrely and naughty to be an office cat and kept wanting to run out the doors into the street and rip open food bags ;) So I inherited him! I wish I knew where he came from though and why someone got rid of him. He was much too friendly to have not been around people.

Andrea,
Squirrel sounds like my Calvin. He shreds paper at every chance he gets. He's the orange one in my avatar.

Another Phoebe here! Not a particularly flattering picture of our first-born, but she's currently convalescing crossly after having a mysterious lump removed from her shoulder. :( It's been a traumatic 10 days, not least because of the bill  ! and the fact that she developed diarrhoea a couple of days after she came home and proved it on my computer chair, meaning I couldn't visit SCS for A WHOLE DAY while all the cleaning fluids and disinfectant dried out! Her stitches come out tomorrow, which will be horrible, but at least she can go outside again afterwards (we hope) - she's driving us crazy by making her eyes big and appealing, miaowing pitifully and looking at the door.

us cat lovers
here are my babies...
Chica our little cubby girl...adopted us by showing up on our doorstep about 4 years ago and needed a playmate. Well, Elsie was rescued from a life of crime at about 8 wks, she darted out in 2-way rush hour traffic on a busy street and hid between the two front tires of a van...we had to get her out---20 mins later, she became ours (that's the short version) of course they weren't crazy about each other at first...but you'd never know it now!!
we also have a dog named Shelby who is at her nana's house this weekend (she goes there every weekend to visit her buddy Kenzie (MIL's dog)
life would not be the same without them!

Mickey is the grey one and Maurie is the black one. They don't like each other, so there is no photo of the two of them.

I didn't see the dog thread, but we have a beautiful 7 year old Newfoundland, 4 cats, and one house bunny. They all get along very nicely except our oldest cat, who is 16 now. He just lives alone in our bedroom. Our cats are pretty rambunctious, but that works in our family of 4 boys. I've recently been having a pang for a new kitten, but my husband swears he'll leave if we get one more animal. HMMMMMMMMM...

AAAaaaawwhhh! Cats.....ya gotta love 'em! Yesterday we were at a craft and antique show and there was a lady there who also had a big board with pictures of the kittens she has bred. Himalayans and Purshains. I took her bus. card. The pictures were so cute! Not sure how my Murphy would like a new friend! I was also afraid to ask how much they were! My DH of coarse thinks we don't need another.....but he's really a big softy so he'd adjust!

I have to LOL on that!!! Every time I get a baby kick going I come home with a new kitten...My husband is always threatening to leave if I bring one more DA*N Cat into this house...He's still here after 14 years and he is the one that made me last week go to 5 stores trying to find Dum-Dum lollipops for my cat (Marshmellow) that now plays fetch and will bring it back to you and he will drop it when you tell him to drop it at your feet...
It is funny how the DH can bluster but they are the ones slipping treats and table food to the cat... LOL!!!

We have five kitties. They're our children and are spoiled rotten! Bast and Willow came first from a family friend. Then came our three Maine Coons. First was Oberon - he's the white one. Then came Norrin - the silver tabby (big boy!). Then, most recently, Nova. For the most part, they all get along pretty well. There are many games of chase (aka The Cat Olympics) throughout our 2-story home. It's very fun to watch - if you don't get in the way!

This is Merlin. He is very friendly but a scardy cat as well. His favorite foods are Peeps, meringue cookies, Baa Bits (sheep lungs) and Moo Bits (cow) and any other freeze dried animal parts or fish. He refuses to eat anything processed like Pounce or other traditional cat treats. Such a pain. He is too smart and very mouthy. 'Yells' at me every morning and at 4pm every day for his food. Drives me nuts! His favorite activity is sleeping on top of the cable box and sitting on my husband's shoulder.
He is a Tonkinese breed (part Siamese, part Burmese). We got him from a breeder in Maryland when we lived there. We first had a deposit on another kitten from her which we named Merlin, but it died a few weeks old. The breeder was worried that we were naming the next one Merlin; she thought it was bad luck.
I originally wanted this breed because I saw a special on cable about which told how smart and friendly they are. Also, they are 'shoulder riders'. I thought that would be cool. Also, loved the aqua eye color. Well, this guy is very demanding; would have been better to get a dumb cat! The breeder also told us that this breed is sensitive to wheat and to one of the kitty vaccines, I think the feline lukemia and told us not to get it. The downside to that is that we cannot get another cat, especially from the animal shelter and we can't have him boarded if we go away.

Merlin is very "pretty"! I guess males are not supposed to be pretty or cute but we always say our cat is cute and he's male!
A friend of my youngest Son called today. She has some kittens that a stray cat had that hangs around her house. She of coarse feeds them but says they are not very tame. There are 4 of them so we are taking them as "barn cats". We live on a farm but don't have any cows or anything and we have converted our barn into a garage for my DH's truck, tractor, etc. So we may have to get a shelter for the kitties. I'm not sure how our house cat, Murphy, will like the "competition"!

AWWW! I love all of your kitties! I can't post a pic of mine right now. But I have a 2 year old cat that looks something like danita's picture of Bast. My cat's name is Kit Kat and she's like our child!!! (We don't have any human kids yet!) Glad to see other people talking about their fur babies, too!

Too funny Carolyn, my husband says the same thing everytime we get a new animal, we currently have 1 dog (Zoe-black lab) 1 cat (Sylvester-long haired black cat) 1 bunny (Bounce-long haired black Jersey Woolie) 1 rat (Shades-white & grey) 1 Hamster (Prince - Golden hamster) 2 lizards (Bill & Ted - leopard geckos) and 2 huge goldfish (Grandpa & Stanley) I don't think we dare push my poor DH anymore!!

Here's my Babycat also known as Boo Boo and Stinky Poo Poo. I never really was a cat person and then I rescued him and have never looked back. I love him to pieces!!!! The most gentle soul, he lets me squish and kiss on him all the time. I make him give me his paw for treats, it is soo cute!!!!!

I forgot to mention in my previous post that I got my cat, Kit Kat, as a birthday gift from my husband two years ago. I shortly thereafter began noticing worsening "seasonal" allergy symptoms that seemed to be lasting year-round. (Hmmm....) This past Spring I had allergy testing done and guess what I am most allergic to? Yep, you guessed it....Kit Kat. Turned out I'm pretty allergic to cats. But I couldn't get rid of her! Like I said, she's my fur baby! =) Anyway, this reminds me... I need to go take my allergy meds and head to bed! Good night all!

Mandy - there is some really cool stuff on the market for Allergy sufferers. Several of our friends who visit often are allergic to cats (we have two). We bought some stuff to neutralize the dander and IT WORKED. It's made by Allergy Control Products. They have a website too, I think!

These are our two cats. The bigger one is Harley, and the other one is Matty.
we got harley and my friend got his littermate-Kali. Matty is the only surviving cat from Kali's litter. So Harley is Matty's uncle.
BTW Matty was named by my friend b/c when she was born her eyes were matted shut and we had to clean them out every day...she had to have eyedrops. My friend brought her over to our house for a week....that was over a year ago! But we love our babies!!!

Actually we lost our Sweetie Pie right before Christmas last year to FIV. :( We got her from our local animal shelter about 9 years ago, so I'm not sure how old she was. It was the hardest thing I've ever done to put her down. She was the sweetest cat I've ever had. She had gotten so sick and was in such pain though. Luckily my neighbor is a vet and he came to my house to do it. It helped being here at home so she wasn't so scared. We got a kitten after Christmas at the shelter. He's a hoot! So funny.
