I have the SU Coluzzle templates and just purchased the tag templates at Michael's yesterday. I love them, except that when I was cutting along one of the tags the knife knicked the template and now there is a small cut in it! Now every time I cut that area it makes it worse and doesn't cut well and looks bad.
Anyone else have that problem? Do you think it's something that Michael's would exchange? I mean, I've only used it a few times and had it 1 day! I know how to use the templates, so I know I wasn't using it incorrectly.

When I do that and the blade keeps getting hung up in that spot....I just take an emery board (nail file) and very gently file that spot till smooth.Works for me.
Michele, I would take it back. I almost got one today, but started to over-analize the stupid thing, which made me think I would probably only use the smaller templates, (the other sizes seem so big) so I didn't buy it, Story of my life!! Now I want it, I drive my hubby crazy by over analazing EVERYTHING!

Take it back! I'm sure they will exchange it for you.
Also...when I first got my Coluzzle, I had problems getting the blade to move smoothly and it kept knicking and sticking. I finally realized that I was not holding it vertically enough...probably because I have been using an X-acto knife for 20+ years and was used to cutting at that angle. As soon as I realized this and started holding the Coluzzle knife straight up and down, my problem was solved and now it's one of my favorite stamping toys.

Does anybody else out there wish Stampin Up would come out with some tag punches. I get their prepunched card stock but there is never enough of one size tags for a workshop. The colluzzle template is just to big for most card making. I did see a punch that just came out by McGill that punched three smaller tags at once. I think I might just order it.
Michele, I know that at the Michaels where I work we would kindly take bake the template, either for refund or exchange, no questions asked. To bad you don't live here, I would tell you when I worked so you could just come see me!

Im suprised they don't have tag punches, also a few more coluzzle templets, the square is a staple for me.
Thanks for all of your suggestions and helping me decide to exchange it. I was holding it at a 90 degree angle as it states in the instructions. I think the cut is too big to file down and still get the corner of the tag to look good.
billsbrowneyedgirl...I'm using the large tag template to make a tag accordian book...perfect size for that! (thanks to the DDD gallery tag challenge!)
Also...what I have done is after I punch out the tags in the precut sheets from SU is I trace the tags from the part it was punched from. Then I get the same size and style as the orig tag. It works best with vellum tag sheets as the vellum is sturdier for tracing.
And, yes, you have to remove the plastic liner that comes on both sides of the template--hard to see at first, but your template should be crystal clear--like glass--or that protective film is still on there! : ) It can cause your knife to snag.
As for tag punches, more Coluzzle template variety, send in your suggestions to SU! I've asked, but they need to hear requests in VOLUMES before they will consider adding a product. They do listen; let them know!

I made sure to remove the plastic coating from both sides before I used it. I think it's just a littel tricky going around the curves and it cut into the plastic template instead of going around a tight curve.
I'm not sure what to tell Michael's my reason for returning it is. Is it that I'm ingnorant as to how to use the thing? (although I'm really not) Or is it that it's made poorly and shouldn't have done that? or maybe they won't even care and not ask me any questions. I hate returning things that don't work/break because I feel guilty doing so. But I still feel it shouldn't be that EASY to cut the template...afterall, we are using a blade with plastic! It should be made to withstand a metal blade!
since michaels is a big chain store, you should have no problems returning it (or exchanging for another). You've only had it for a day, so as long as you do this in the next couple of days all you have to say is that it's defective. they really won't ask you for details. keep in mind that it is possible that there was a groove or other manufacturing defect in that spot, which caused you to cut into it... good luck
I agree...And if you just are requesting an even exchange (template for template), I don't think you'll have a problem at all. But, do it soon.
And, I agree with JulieHRR! We all need to let SU! know that we want a variety of templates. I use the ones I got at Michael's for my own use, and often WISH I could demo the project...but isn't it a little silly to say, "Oh, by the way, you can order the Coluzzle from me, but drive to M's for the template!" Blah......
My 3 wishes from SU!: 1) TRUE pastel cardstock (baby blue, pink, and green), 2) Krylon 24kt. goldleafing pen (soooo much better than Zig for acetate projects), and 3) Lots n' lots of Coluzzle templates!
I've asked for 1 and 2....now to bug them about #3!
