Autumn Fairy Hostess: Denise (resqbarbie)
Keyword: SPECIAL CODES BY AGE GROUP (see below)
Time: 12:00 PM EST, Sat
Be sure to upload all kid cards to the Kids Gallery ( not the regular SCS Gallery ) so we’ll be able to locate the cards for judging. Upload to : Gallery/Special Collections/I’d Like to Thank the Little People
When uploading, be sure to use the appropriate challenge keyword for age group:
One thing I always remember doing as a kid living in NY, is collecting leaves in the fall...then the crafty girl in me would take them inside and make some kind of art project with them! For this challenge, go out with your kids and have a fun nature walk, pick up some cool leaves and do some leaf rubbings to make fun and interesting backgrounds! Just put the leaf under paper (thin paper works best), use crayons to rub over the leaf, and voila! Instant background! Have fun and don't forget to "smell the roses", er, I mean the leaves!
PS I know in many areas it's still "Summer" and leaves are hard to find on the ground (except Down Under with Frances where I think it's SPRING???) but we just picked some from our garden! We used hydrangea leaves and even some herbs! Made it smell nice too!
Samples:
The first is by my DD Gia (age 4)...I think she watches me too much 'cause she said "I need a saying and a ribbon Ma!"
The second is by my DS Chris (age 2 1/2)...he just wanted to get more leaves!
Uploading Instructions:
*You have 45 minutes to complete this challenge
*Please remember to put in the correct keyword when uploading your image. If you are using additional keywords, you must separate them with a comma. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
*It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in the chat thread just in case the gallery is being testy.
Thanks Denise. I am in with Frances...it is Spring here and I collected plenty of leaves yesterday. The kids will play when they wake up as it is 2am here now:shock:

I just challenged myself already with the kids. I have a 3 year old and almost 2 year old. They are acting cranky today. However that didn't stop me from making cookies with them. I have them use the cookie cutters. I felt like I was Lucille Ball on the assembly line-agh! I could hardly keep up. Now I have to vaccuum the floor. I am so thankful it is almost naptime. I am not even going to try decorating the cookies with them. I will wait til they get a day older for that-LOL

better but still loopy....and I look like I have a sunburn...the facial flushing is supposedly a side effect of the steroids...so I can't go out at all today....oh well, VSN here I am!

Great challenge! It is raining here so DD will have to wait until the leaves dry to get going....also I had her challenge from last night in the regular gallery. (oops! Forgetful mom!) Hopefully, I changed the category successfully. We'll see.

I'm actually north of Lake George, near Plattsburgh (which is about 1 1/2-2 hours). The trees are started to turn. This is a wonderful time of year. Except today, when the humidity is high and the temp is overwhelming. I'll admit, I'm lazy today. However, we are hiking on Monday in the Adirondacks. Yeah.

WOW! Must be gorgeous! Everything here is still green....
I have been trying to get DD to do this with me for WEEKS. I tried again unsuccessfully a few minutes ago. She'd much rather rip the leaves to shreds!Oh well - we got lots of laughs out of it!!
While I was uploading cards, DD took her scissors outside to cut some more leaves. Then she decided to cut her hair and DS's hair. My neighbor saw and rang the doorbell. They look quite funny! Here are the cards. I have to go take them for a walk before I go crazy!

My DH is taking DD to the park a bit later to give me some more time to play. I will have them pick up some leaves while they are there. My DD is hoping to have a friend sleep over tonight so I will have them do this project later. Should be fun!!
