I've thought about this for awhile and have been to various shoebox swaps around here. I'm just curious to see if anyone would be interested in a Shoebox Swap around the Cleveland area..
So, if you are, post here..and I'll work on it and begin the planning process.
Hi Trina, I can't guarantee that I could make it, but I had been noticing all of the ladies in this area and thinking how fun it would be to meet up. My hubby does not really encourage me in this hobby, but I would try to make it if the date worked out.
I might be interested (Olmsted Falls) However, I won't be able to if it is Oct 12-13th...I'll be at the 2nd annual SCS Stampin' & Pamperin' weekend in Cincinnati. But after that I'd love to! (I'm in Olmsted Falls)
Oooohhh...The Stampin and Pamperin weekend in Cincy...I was thinking about that, just didn't want to make the drive by myself. You are soo lucky..However, I'm going to the Adventures in Stamping at the Holiday Inn in Strongsville, with some other girls from Ohio.
Well, girl, ya know I'd be interested. Even willing to help with anything you might need an assist with. How about a poll for dates, and go with the majority?
We're neighbors Trina. I'm in Old Brooklyn and would be very interested. My daughter is in nursing school and I babysit my granddaughter (10 years old) every Saturday. Would this be something that she could participate in as well?
BTW, when is the Adventures in Stamping in Strongsville?

I have four ladies from the Akron area who would be interested. Someone in an earlier post mentioned doing a Christmas themed swap. That would be a great idea! It seems that I spend time every year trying to find enough time to sit down and come up with an idea, get the supplies, go back to the store for the supplies I forgot the first time, then make the cards. The only bad time for us would be the weekend of Nov 9th. Grandma is going on a cruise so my sil and I would lose our sitter.

Ok so this is how we have to find things out now LOL Wubs ya beena! Just becuase I am in Green, south of pretty much all of you, doesn't mean that I won't travel to cleveland. If there is stamping, my Van will go anywhere, so I guess depending on the date, I am there, and ditto if you need any help with anything. Let me know

I would be interested. I participate in a club but always looking for more stamping friends! I am between North Ridgeville and Elyria but close to all the major highways. Its sounds like fun!
Hi PB, I asked the very same question when I first came to SCS. There are so many informative forums that have been provided to us. If you go to Stamping Stuff, Swaps, So Ya Wanna Swap, you'll get a ton of info. But to initially answer your question, hopefully the following will help which I have copied and pasted:
FROM THE MODERATOR:
So you want to join a swap...congratulations! Look here for all the information you need to be a good swapper.
Looking in the swap forum for something to join may seem overwhelming, but with our new streamlined operations, it isn't.
Scroll through to see the "OPEN" swaps. Then select one that you are interested in. Read the hostess' "rules" for the swap. Is it full cards? Card fronts? SU! products only? MAKE SURE THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FULFILL THE OBLIGATIONS FOR THE SWAP BEFORE YOU JOIN! If all looks good-post in the same thread that you would like to join. Then get stamping.
How do you keep track of updates? After signing up, go to the top of the screen (But it's really the second blue bar) and locate "Thread Tools". Click and you will get a drop menu where one of the options is "Subscribe to this Thread." All new postings will then be sent to your e-mail with the link to the thread.
Also-PLEASE communicate with your SCS Name and your REAL Name to the hostess. When a swap hostess starts recieving swaps and she has the name on the postal envelopes as Jane Doe and there is no mention of the SCS name of HorsesAreFun (just made this up), it is difficult to match up what she is receiving. The easier things are for the hostess, the quicker you will get your swaps back to you.
If you find that you are unable to remain with the swap for whatever reason: TELL THE HOSTESS IMMEDIATELY!

I'm in the area but not sure what a shoebox swap is. Could someone enlighten me?
Hi there, and welcome!
A Shoebox Swap is an event where a group of stampers get together to create each others projects! Several of us here have done this quite often, and it's a ton of fun. Usually there is a limit set as to how many people can attend. Once you know the limit, and when it's going to be held, you come up with a project... a great card, a scrapbook page, a 3-D project... nothing too complicated. If it's too time-consuming there won't be time for everyone else's projects. You design your project, then come to the swap with enough supplies for everyone there to complete your project. Everyone sets their things up around the room, and you move from space-to-space and get to do one of everything! And you eat, and talk, and eat, and talk, and stamp, and eat, and talk! A great way to get to know new people and learn some new stuff, too! There generally is no limit to what you can use as far as certain companies, etc.... at least we have never had any restrictions with our gatherings! Hope that helps you understand a little better what a Shoebox Swap is, and hope to get to meet you!

I know that Trina (beena) is still looking for a place that won't charge us an arm and a leg to hold a shoebox swap. Don't give up!!! We still want to have a NE Ohio Shoebox Swap soon!!!
