Default What is your *ONE* all time favourite SU set?

(That is still being made please).

Please help me decide which set to buy next... I'm new to SU and would like to buy 2 more sets. 1 word set, and 1 stamp (picture) set. I have Winged Things and Nice & Easy Notes so far.

Which set is your favourite, and what makes it so versatile for you?

Thank-you!!

You might want to check out the other thread in this discussion area - about favorites. The 3 most popular should be revealed soon.

Sorry I don't know how to do a link!

Good luck. It seems like I see so many cards I love - would have a hard time picking just one set.

Default One all time most favorite SU set

For me it would be In Full Bloom and Wonderful Words. I use these a lot.

For pictures, I pick Fresh Flowers. You can use flowers for birthday, congratulations, sympathy, thinking of you, thank you, all sorts of cards.

For a words set, I like All Year Cheer I, these two sets in conjunction were my first two sets, and allowed me to make so many cards. The dragonfly stamp and leaves from Fresh Flowers can even make slightly more masculine cards with greens and blues for color combos.

I agree with suen: Wonderful Words and In Full Bloom are two that I reach for all the time! Of course, if Petal Prints and Sincere Salutations make it into the catalog, they'd have my vote! (And I'll be shocked if Petal Prints doesn't make it!)

In Full Bloom is my fav. I can make it sophisticated or playful - depending on colors and techniques I use for coloring in.

I use Favorite Teddy Bear a lot. I find it versitile for the summer, birthdays, and christmas. I also have used it for a plain note card too because it has an envelope stamp and had the bear delivering letters. Just lots of versitility with it.

Good luck with whatever stamp you choose.

I know a lot of people are tired of this set, but, I love Watercolor Garden. It was the first set I ever bought and I use it all the time. Add Wonderful Words and All Year Cheer I and II to that and it's a sure winner.

Were you a demo back at Christmas and get Sincere Salutations? If not, then I would get that for my word set. That is assuming you are waiting to order when the new catty is available. My favorite varies, but I really like to use Roses in Winter and Sketch An Event is a very versatile set that you can use feminine or masculine.

I know how hard it is to choose a set when there are so many that you like (and you're on a budget). You might want to wait for the new catalog -- I bet there will be great things offered that none of us have seen yet!

My first set was Watercolor Garden (1) and I still reach for it time and again. For words, I would encourage you to pick either Wonderful Words, or one of the All Year Cheer Sets (I have 1 and 3 and both are great). They offer a lot of different greetings that cover most of the holidays and special occasions, which, as a new stamper, you probably need

For myself, I'm struggling between Mixed Bouquet (summer mini), In Full Bloom, or hoping for Petal Prints in the new catty. So many stamps, so little money

Terrific Tulips is the one I still reach for the most. Watercolor Garden II and In Full Bloom are a close 2nd.

Mini Mates! I use this set ALOT. It's great because it has images and words both. Very versatile in my opinion.

Talking Good Question

I love Fresh Flowers, All Natural and Fun with Shapes. As far as words, I use All Year Cheer 1 and Sincere Salutations since that's about all I have! *Grin* There are so many wonderful stampsets to choose from! I wish some magic genie would appear and give them all to me!LOLOL Guess I haven't been a good enough girl for Santa to bring them to me yet! LOL

In Full Bloom is a similar style to Winged Things, if you want to stay with that look. I find I use Shapes & Shadows quite a bit--it's a great all-around set.

In Full Bloom is my favorite set so far (and it goes VERY well with Winged Things). If I had to choose a word set I would go with Wonderful Words or Everyday Flexible Phrases.

Well I think In Full Bloom was the most popular so far with this thread... will definitely look into that set!

I'm going to order 2 sets now, then again in a couple weeks when the new catalogue comes out...

There are a couple sets i'm thinking about before they are discontinued.. the Farm Fresh set, I think they are so nice! They look like old fashioned jam labels! And the Hedgehog set is simply adorable too! What does everyone think of these sets?

Thanks so much for your input! It's greatly appreciated!!

The sets I use the most are Watercolor Garden and DD Daisy. I think they look great in any color and I found lots of uses for these sets besides just cards. I love the Farm Fresh set even though I don't own it yet. This is a set that I'm on the fence about ordering. I love it's look but I can't decide if it's a set that I will use often enough. My Demo is having a retirement party and offering 20% off any retiring set so I have to hurry and make up my mind. I think that I will more than likely order the Farm Fresh set because I have thought of a project for my kitchen to use this set on. So this will be how I justify buying this set. LOL. I also thought this would be a great set to make thank you cards as a gift for DD's teacher because I know she sends TY cards to the children in her class when they give her gifts.

Oh! I *LOVE* your avatar! LOL! Yummy!!!

I just went through the gallery and am *definit* going to order the Farm Fresh set! Take a look under the Farm Fresh gallery.. then you'll know! ;) Don't know about the hedgehog set... I probably won't as I want sets that could be used for a lot of different cards if possible...

I'll check out the sets you suggested, thanks!

If you are a demo, Farm Fresh is retiring and that sometimes makes it hard to use. But if you aren't...go for it. (It just dawned on me that you probably aren't or you'd have atleast 5 sets!) I know that the sets I LOVE are the sets I really do use all of the time. I really am surprised reading this list to see what people love best. I adore my wonderful words, and use them alot, but I don't think they are the MOST versatile word set. I think that one of the All Year Cheer sets are much better. I think that for my fav. image set, that would probably be...Totally Cool. But I don't use it all of the time. But she's just great.

Good luck choosing. It's never easy. That's why so many of us have TOO Many stamps! ;)

Watercolor Garden is also my favorite. I've used it so much that it's just about my signature stamp! If something is stamped with Watercolor Garden, all my friends and relatives assume it is from me! And it isn't because I don't have any other sets...I have over 180 RETIRED sets and probably 130 sets that are current. It just makes beautiful, simple cards.

Shapes and Shadows is by far my most fav set, I cant believe how versatile it is!!!

I use Cheery Chat alot as a word set, but I also have 3 or 4 CTMH sets that are word sets that I prefer more....

I looked at the flower sets and I just can't seem to get 'into' them...
Do you really find them that versatile?

I do like the 'Shapes and Shadows' set... and am definitely getting the Farm Fresh set. That's the only one i'm set on so far...

Will have to browse through the gallery and look at Watercolour Garden and In Full Bloom...

Thanks!

I have to second Mini mates--very useful set. It's easy to mix it with other sets too (such as using the You're sweet saying with a chocolate set).

If you're not into flowers, maybe a set like Simply circles or Simply shapes? You can create lots of patterns and colors with those.

WONDERFULL WORDS is a MUST!!! All of my customers have it cause we use it ALLLLLL THE TIME!!!

As far as a picture set....there are tooooo many to chose from. I like In FUll Bloom but I think it works better if you have chalks, marker, or can water color with it!

SHAPES & SHADOWS is another MUST! I use it ALLLLLL THE TIME too!

Farm Fresh and All the Best. After browsing the gallery I knew I had to get these sets! I think All the Best will be very versatile! Next i'm going to get a text set.. not sure which one yet and another 'picture' stamp set... I can see this becoming *VERY* addictive! LOL!!!

Don't overlook Something To Celebrete- it has a lot of different ways to use it. If I was just begining again it would be on my short list.

My favorite (current)stamp set is a toss up between Beautiful Batik and Simply Circles, and my favorite word set is Sincere Salutations. HOWEVER, I'm just counting the days until the new catty comes out, and it's very possible (and likely) that there will be many more sets for me to fall in love with!! Maybe you should wait for the new catty...if you can stand it!!

Yes, this "hobby" is very, very addictive. Why do you think so many of us became demos?! And looking at all the cute creations in the gallery is dangerous. Every time I go to that blasted gallery, I find a new stamp set (or ink or accessory) that I NEED.

I guess I missed the boat because you already decided which sets to buy, but my personal faves are In Full Bloom, Shapes and Shadows, and Wonderful Words. I use these all the time for my "personal" cards to friends and family. I also really like Summer by the Sea. As you pointed out, this set and Seaside Sketches are so beautiful when watercolored.
