I just wanted to know if I NEED reinkers! <g> I'm a new demo and I have all the Classic pads now and I doubt they'll be reinking anytime soon. I'm wondering what you would use reinkers for, besides the obvious intended purpose.
My friend just started using the re inkers as dye. There is a new scrapbook book out that is just for ideas that are used with dye. THey are starting to show dye as a technique for scrapbooking. She dyed white paper and white ribbon using reinkers/water and it was beautiful. I am going to try it this week. HTH
I saw a demo use them for the aquapainters. Instead of using your ink pad and doing the smooshing thing on the lid. She put a drop on wax paper and picked up the color like that. Just use one teeny drop, it goes a long way.
I watercolor with mine all the time. I even order reinkers without the pads to give me more color variety when I watercolor. I reink before a workshop also. I'd hate for a potential customer to think the pad is dry. I do the reinking right at the workshop so people will know how to do it.

You can use the re-inkers to dye the micro beads!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm guessing just put them in a container and drop some reinker on...I'd use a chopstick or something to move them around. That sounds like a GREAT idea!!! Gonna have to break out the beads today!

I use them with my waterbrushes. I bought for I think for $1.25 a water color palette at Michaels. It's just a plastic rectangle tray with little square wells in it. I put a couple of drops of the reinker in a well and pick up the color with the waterbrush to "paint" my cards.
I love my reinkers!!!! I gotten to the point I'm buying more colors of reinkers than I have stamp pads.
You use them for :
- inking your ink cartrigdges for your wheels
- shaving cream technique
- Polished stone
- Mix them with Crystal effect and color image.
- Watercolor with them
- re-ink your ink pads
- Mix them with Pearl Ex powder and color your images for a sparkly look.
- Mix them with toothpaste and use with brass templates.
- use brown and gray re-inkers and a toothbrush for a wood look
- Emboss your image in black. Rub metallic ink over it and then rub re-inkers over the whole piece of cardstock for a smudged look.
I am sure there are way more techniques out there that use re-inkers, but those are all that I can think of of the top of my head!
OK Beate - I know you are one of the great masters of stamping, but, toothpaste and reinkers? Is this like a modeling paste technique? Is there a forum for this? My mind is just racing with possibilities and my kids may have to worry about toothcare...

It was in one of the more recent Pat Huntoon's Technique junkie newsletter. You mix some toothpaste with re-inkers and add it over your brass template. Be careful as not to get it under the template. Next cover it with glassy glaze and emboss it. Done.
Has anyone tried the toothpaste thing?? I'm willing to attempt new things but I'd sure like to see an example--as my husband rolls on the floor laughing at the new craziness this rubber stamping has turned into :lol:
