Default Search 101

Ok, I need someone to help me with the search function. I'm looking for New Year's card ideas in the gallery and when I do the search, it's giving me every card that has the words "new" and "year's" in it. How do I narrow it down to find "New Year's" all together?

I have this problem a lot, so I'll be curious to see the answers! My problem is when I try to search for a thread or something....same deal. Last night I was searching for "Bind it All" and I got every thread with the word Bing, IT, or all. That's a lot of threads!! I try putting plus signs in between the words, but that doesn't seem to help!

Good question!

Boy, you're right! I just tried several variations that work on other search engines and none of them worked. I tried the new+years, the "new years" and happy+new+ year, and "happy new year" and they either brought up nothing, or everything with those words. Maybe drop a question into the Suggestions forum?

I would also like the answer. I figured I was the only one who did not know.

there really isn't a great way to use the search except to use as few keywords as possible. I hope the sotware that the forum uses will make an update for new search options.

That would be nice....Most searches have a way to fine tune what you're looking for, like using quotation marks to search for specific things, or a minus sign to exclude things, etc. Would make life a whole lot easier when searching, wouldn't it?

I've tweaked something on the back end. To search for a phrase, enclose it in quotes, as in "new years". Please let me know if it works for you now.

nope :(

When I search for "new year" I mainly get results for the Dirty Girls pics that have the word "new" but not "year"

How about now? The change was a little more significant than I first expected. Hopefully quoted search will be working now, both from the main search page and with the little box at the top right of gallery pages.

Will the quoted search work in the buy/sell/trade forums too, or just the gallery? I guess I should just try it and see, right?!

I've only been working on the gallery searches. Nothing has changed on the forums
