I don't do it often but I think it's perfectly fine. In fact, I just uploaded a JulieHRR CASE that I did. I just added an embellishment. What better form of flattery for the original artist!
I case but hardly exactly and of course when I case from here I always let my clients know that it comes from the best stampers site there is, Splitcoast!!

I usually will not CASE another person's creations. I will get ideas from them, but make it different enough to call it my artwork. I also usually will not even make more than 1 of my own cards...it takes the fun out of it in my opinion. That's why I don't do swaps and haven't done a craft fair yet.
Usually, tho, I only post it online if I made a twist of some kind to differentiate it from the original? If it is an identical CASE, then I keep it in my set sampler, but do not usually post it online, except for my own web gallery.
I always credit original artisan, if info/source is known.
I find it FUN to CASE and be CASEd!!!! And, it's so comforting to have the talent of another artisan to save me when I'm dead in the water with ideas (brain block, etc.).

I CASE all the time. I usually don't upload it unless I've made it different. I am not good at coming up with my own ideas....not a lot of confidence in my creative abilities. So I CASE other things that I like a lot...usually that sparks great ideas once I get started.
Yes! I like to CASE and use them for my personal use! I also will CASE when we do shoebox swaps, if I'm short on time. I do as some of you also said. Change colors or add my own "twist" to it! I personally find it flattering to have someone CASE my originals too!
yes I CASE. It usually gets me going on a new set. I usually change a little bit to make it my own (and sometimes supplies dictate a change). I usually don't post it unless it turns out very different (but I still give credit for the CASE to who's idea it was). I say CASE away ladies, that's why this site is here.
Yup ~ same as Jenn....cased, but made my "own".
I think that a CASE is the highest form of flattery. As long as the original artist is given credit. At the very least, a mention of "CASEd from someone but can't remember who/where" shows your honesty!

I may start out to CASE, but .... I just can't do it!! LOL! I have to change something - usually most of the card - because I can't leave it alone. LOL! That's what happened to my Friday Challenge today! I started with good intentions ... just didn't happen.
Same! I love the ideas you get and usually change it up enough to be mine. I love to be CASED....indeed it is the finest form of flattery! How small would the SCS gallery be if no one cased at all? Hats off to all of you that are naturally creative!
I couldn't live if I didn't CASE. LOL! I always share that info with people because at workshops they all say "Oh, you're so creative...blah, blah, blah..." and I laugh and say "NO! I'm just a big copy-cat!"
Hey, there's NOTHING new under the sun...to quote a wise man. ;)
I also enjoy a challenge. How can I use what I have to make a card that requires something I don't have? Can I use different colors (like suggested on the Inspiration Sheets)? That's part of the fun.
And on a semi-related note, that's one thing I LOVE about this year's catalog--I want to CASE so many of the WONDERFUL samples. I think they are an improvement over last year! (And, if you ask me, we can pretend like last year never happened. The purple catalog was kind of a step backwards from the samples in the yellow catalog...) ;)

I do case sometimes. When I was a new(er) stamper I found it to be really, really helpful and eventually I was able to find my own niche. But honestly, I also found that buying every accessory under the sun helped a little bit too There is def. a lot of inspiration here on SCS and a tremendous resource for any stamper (demo or non) imho...

See, I CASE a lot because if I don't then I'm stuck in that little niche and all I do is mat, mat, mat! I need some new ideas...I'm a matting manic! LOL!

I have my first workshop ever coming up....I may have to CASE to get some ideas, but I will make it my own in the end. But it helps to really get the creativity going.

I look, look, look so much, I'm worried that someday I will CASE something subconsiously, thinking it's my original idea!
Me too! I really worry about that! I semi-case. I hate to copy something exactly, it feels too much like cheating to me! I know that most people are flattered to be cased, but I feel like I should be able to come up with ideas on my own. I might use the basic idea, use different stamps, colors, embellishments etc...

That is me! I was stuck for ideas until I found this site now I can't stop. I tell people the same thing, and then send them this way.

I will CASE but try to always give credit to whomever created the original.
I try to give credit if I upload one that is CASEd. If I forget please take credit! I have looked through the galleries so many times I do not know what is my thought or memory. Thanks for all the great ideas!

Dawn, I like the word "semi-case". That's probably more what I do than outright CASEing. Most of the time I don't have the CS, stamps, ink, etc. of the card I see but I like the idea so come up with my own version.

I CASE
I love to CASE all the wonderful ideas in here. I usually CASE exactly if that is what I am doing. If I am having a creative day rather than a CASING day, I grab a set and some paper and start playing.
Maybe I'll call it CASWAT
Copied
And
Stolen
With
A
Twist
I like to get inspiration, but don't think I do an exact copy. I love looking at similar style sets and getting ideas, but changing things a bit to make it my own.

While we are on the subject I want to ask a question. The catalog is called an Idea Book and I get many of my ideas there. That means I see a design I like and copy that specific thing, whether it be color combo, layout, ribboon tied a certain way. I will copy that but it's usually never the same color or stamp set used in the card. Is that CASE'ING? If so then I am guilty. But I figure it's an Idea book there to spark my creativity. I even submit Catalog CASED cards to swaps. I hope no one gets offended when I do that but I love starting with one of Stampin' Up's artists design's and then going with it. And I hope it's changed enough that people wouldn't automatically think "oh, that's just like card on page. xx".
I think everything I've seen gets jumbled in my head and when I get an idea for a card layout I wonder "has this been done before?" to myself. But the artwork on SCS is so WONDERFUL that I can't resist. Most of the time the reason I buy a specific stamp set is because someone here has made such pretty things that I have to have it!!!
I've rambled on long enough - no adult conversation today. Can you tell?

Always!! But usually by the time I sit down & do the card, I've forgotten how it totally looked so they always end up a little different & I only print out the card in black & white so the colors are never right!!!
