Default Textured Snow On Cards

Hello!

I just recently became involved in rubber stamping (what a fun hobby)! I found a wonderful stamp that I want to use on Christmas cards this year. It has a snowman on it, and I was wondering if there was something I could buy to give the snowman a textured snow look? Also, what type of white pen or paint would you suggest to fill in the white color on the snowman? I am going to stamp it on regular card stock. Thanks so much.

To make your snowman white on coloured card stock, bleaching works well. You can also sponge on white craft ink. Or for small areas you can use the white gel pen.

To get the puffed snow look, use puff paint or dimentional paint that puffs up when heated. You can find it at Walmart. SU doesn't carry it anymore.

Liquid Applique is the best. It comes in a pen form so you can write with it on your card, then heat it like you would if embossing. It foams up and is awesome.

I was going to say Liquid Applique too! So it has two votes. ;)

VERY easy to use, and cheap!

I want to do the same thing as the op. I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and they didn't have liquid applique or fun flock. I checked both crafts and fabric for the la.

Does anyone know the company that makes these products? TIA

Can you use the white craft ink (maybe use a brush to fill in the scarf?) then emboss with with white embossing powder?

I have some white pigment ink, not SU. I have been doing cards since April and haven't embossed yet--need to get some supplies and learn how. Thanks.

You can also use Puffy Paint by Tulip. It works just the same. It also comes in a tube and then use your heat gun.

Stampendous makes the fun flock and has for YEARS! I got the new colors at Craft Wharehouse for $2.49 each! I still have the originals from 1993 (?) I think my DS was 2 when I started this crazy addiction!

Liquid Applique - I used that 2 years ago. You write it on and emboss -- very cool effect.

Last xmas I could not find the stuff...

I used a DecoArt Snow Writer -- I found it at Michael's. You just let it dry and it makes raised snow! My kids and I loved it.

Have fun!

I use liquid applique for snowy applications

As for coloring in a white image- I look at the experts, and Miss Anna Wright being one of the best. For her snowmen, I have noticed that she outlines with a light blue or grey to make the white pop. She once had a blog entry explaining about it, and I can even remember the card, but couldnt find it on her blog even though I've looked for it. But I did find this card that shows how she did the coloring:
http://sweetmissdaisy.typepad.com/sa...u-handle-.html

her SCS name is SweetMissDaisy and I'm sure you'll find more examples in her gallery here.

Would the Souffle pens give any dimensional look, or is it too subtle? They are by Sakura.

Yes EP will work with craft ink-if you have clear EP then you can have any color with that color of craft ink. White EP would also work with versamark.

I too like liquid applique for dimension

Gel pens are good for fill in

I think they're too subtle IMO but good for flat fill in. Their glaze pens are good for a stained glass clear fill in

I like using the twinkling H2O's - color is Icicles. It makes a nice "shimmery" effect.

THe craft store had a 25% sale so I bought the Liquid Applique. Will let you know how it works. Found out the sale will continue for 2 more days. Yeah. I am writing a check so DH doesn't see how much I bought. If I get my rear in gear and make the cards it will be all worth while.

Need to see your galleries and get inspired.

Oh, I did manage to fill the brown bag. There were papers, brads, Christmas things, etc that were just calling my name. I only spent 2 hours in the store. I paced myself...2 hours, only 2 hours.
