Default Card candy

You can use any stamp set you have and the square punches. You put glue dots on the back and stick them to wax paper and slide them in a cello bag with card candy topper. I just started putting some together. They are good for hostess gifts or booking incentives. I also used the Terrific tags punch box and made a sheet of tags.

Default Card Candy?

What is card candy? I've seen a couple of posts in gallery and now I'm curious about it. Thanks!

It is where you stamp some images (something like Circle of Friendship, Riveting, Tag Punch, etc) and back them with colored card stock. Then using a Glue Dot adhere them to a piece of Wax Paper. Package them up and give them to whomever - they can then use them on cards, projects that they make.

If you do a search in the Gallery for Card Candy - some examples should come up. Kind of like embellishments - think of the epoxy stickers, etc.

HTH!

Love that idea!! I had to chuckle - when I read the title of this post I thought the answer was going to be something like cards that are so awesome they just make you drool. Ya know, like looking through the ads in the Sunday paper - eye candy. Make sense?

I did some up recently for my SIL who has just become vision-impaired. She LOVES stamping, but is having trouble doing it. This really helps her feel like she can put together a card that looks good!

Default Card candy?

Okay, this is probably a really basic question...but what *is* card candy? What do you *do* with it?
thanks!

There was a thread about this recently, and I read it because I didn't know myself!! Basically, card candy is a package of related embellishments or images that you can add to a card. If you go to the gallery and do a search you'll see several cool examples. Have fun!

Default Card Candy

I was reading a swap for Card Candy. I then looked in the gallery and found what they were talking about. I am drawing a blank. It looks like there are between 8-12 items in a bag, so do you use these on a candy gift or what? It looks really fun, just don't know what to do with them.

No, it's a play on words, kinda like when you're walking through the mall looking at all the cool stuff and you call it eye candy. They're just embellishments for cards.

Demos started doing these as hostess gifts, but there are lots of uses for them! I made some for my SIL when she first got sick...she had a hard time making cards, so I prepared a batch of "card candy" for her using the Riveting set. This gave her a way to easily send cards for lots of occasions with little effort.

It's just fun to have an embellishment to "grab and go" with when you need a last minute card!

Excuse my butting in, but I've got another candy question....

How do you keep the candy in the right spot in the bag? Do you have the individual pieces taped/glued onto the bag somehow?

In the gallery I have seen them (search under "card candy") looks like stuck to a sheet of transparency or wax paper type item with a pop dot?

If I'm currently using a particular stamp set a lot, I keep some from that set in a jar on my stamping table close at hand. Otherwise I have a drawer where I keep them organized in snack size ziploc bags.

I am currently in a Card Candy swap and I'm scared to death - almost to the point of regretting that I joined. I have done several test runs and don't like a single one of them - I'm sure I'll come up with something and everything will be fine, I just don't want to disapoint others in my group as I have never made my own stuff like this - there's a first time for everything - wish me luck!!

yes wax paper works great! This was a trick taught to Demos at the regional seminars last year.
Little items/sentiments/images already made and colored and cut or punched..all ready to stick on a card...could be a reg size card or a note card or even a 3x3 or a gift tag...stuck to wax paper with a pop dot, easily removed and added to project.
The name 'card candy' is a play on words it actually has nothing to do with candy just fun little items to stick on a card front...great for beginners

I've never done card candy but just want to give you a boost of encouragement AuntieLauri, please don't regret it, just try your best. Stamping is supposed to bring joy, and the only way to get better is to just try different things until you feel happy with what you've done. The moment will come, it'll click. Good luck with your swap!

Pop dots are dimensional glue dots. They raise the image up off the paper. You can get them in varying thicknesses. Of course, you can always double up if you want 1/8" height and only have 1/16th" dots. It just gives an image a nice 3D look.

I have always saved the release paper from mounting my big background stamps to use for card candy. The glue will stick enough to keep the "candy" in place, but it peels off easily when it's time to use it. Wax paper works as well.

Blog candy is something that a blogger is giving away on their blogs. It's just something we do for fun.....kind of a way to give back to all our loyal readers. I usually do them every month or so. Some bloggers do them whenever they find a good deal on the $1 stamps. Some bloggers give away a couple cards they made.

You know how we stampers are.....we just love to spread the love.

Erika is right, it's a way to give back to our dedicated readers. It's alo an opportunity to share a fun new product with our readers. For example, someone may have just bought a cuttlebug and then will give away an embossing folder as a way of sharing this new product with others. Blogger's who design stamps, sometimes offer one of their designs as blog candy. Anna Wight just gave away an adorable stamp that she designed for Whipper Snapper. (Thta stamp made me hungry for chocolate!) We all try to thank our reader's for their readership and for sharing our blogs with other stampers who may not have stopped by before.

It is also a neat way to increase readership. Blogging to a world that doesn't respond definitely gets old!!!!

I've used them as tags for gifts and for jump starting a card. I already have an image, then I just add some paper, ribbon etc.. around it and voila! simple card ready to send.

I'm not sure if this is the indended purpose or not - but I have made/purchased some decos and given to fellow stampers as bday gifts, for them to use on their cards. I adhere them to a strip of cardstock and put in a cello bag with a fancy topper. The giftee has always seemed tickled to get them.

they are easy, fun and make great gifts!

Remember the candy "dots" that were on the paper and you pulled them off to eat... that is what these are like... but instead of eating them you embellish your cards, scrapbook pages, etc.

I found that making coordinating pieces (different shapes & sizes) seem to make the cutest card candy. Take a stamp set wild about you, make 6 pieces using the stamps from one set. Put them together in one cello bag on waxed paper with a glue dot to place it. Top it, and your done! Make a red hat set, or birthday set, etc.

If you are passing them as gifts, be sure to drop a business card in the back side!!!

Hope this helps!

Question Blog Candy?

OK, so I've been checking out these really cool blogs and I keep running into "Blog Candy". Can someone please explain to me what this is?

I'm still pretty new to blogging (mine is so far behind it hurts!), so I feel kinda silly asking!

blog candy is a giveaway of sorts...usually a blogger will post what they are offering and then ask you to post a comment on a specific topic, etc...the blogger will then, at a specified time, randomly choose a winner! The winner gets the "candy"!

It's just where someone gives away some goodies by drawing names out of those who comment on that post. I'm doing my first one now. It's kind of fun! I've never won blog candy on anyone else's blog yet but hopefully in the future!

Blog candy is a fun way for a blogger to give back for various reasons. In my case, I had a huge blog candy giveaway to thank my readers for helping to raise so much money for Autism. It was my way of having a "cyber-celebration!" I have also done blog candy in exchange for information that is very important to me. Whether I want to know how people would prefer to order items in my store or to find out where are the great places to camp for a family with a brand new camper, I'm willing to "pay" for the advice with a little gift. It's super fun to see what people have to say. And, I found a great place to camp!! LOL!

Some folks don't like blogger's giving away blog candy because they think their may be some sort of negative motive behind it, but most blogger's would agree that whether you are paying something forward or just saying thanks for your support, it's almost always done with good intentions and heartfelt appreciation.

Hugs,
Gina K.
