i believe i heard that if you don't clamp it down so tight and you begin straight..that it will come out straight...i don't usually have this problem so i hope this helps.
Make sure your leading edge is straight. Clamp the crimper down. Put the paper along the roller and start rolling. If I put the paper in first and then crimp, that's when I get a crooked crimp. Clamping then putting the lead edge in works best for me.

and, if you don't mind me jumping in, while we're on the subject of crimping... do you all just use Mono adhesive to secure it to your cards/projects? or something else? I'm always concerned about squishing the crimping too much.
I have this tip sheet for using your crimper to its fullest potential! I have attached it here. I too have to agree with Kymbers and say close the crimper then put your paper in straight then start turning, I have found it works well even for inch thin pieces!
I have started recommending the sticky strip for use with crimped pieces of cardstock. Nothing else holds as well and it's frustrating to make a card with crimped pieces only to have it all pop apart later.

I use double sided sticky tape instead of mono for crimped paper. It holds better and is wider than mono. I have a project in my gallery where I used cripmed paper on a notebook and the double sided tape is what I finally used to hold the paper down successfully.
Great list for crimping. I have one addition. I did this for one of my convention swaps.
I stamped or drew my image on a piece of card stock. In my case I drew the hat template. I cut a square out around it (easier to hang on to) and then I ran it through the crimper 12 x's. You have to go in every different direction because the paper will stretch but the results are amazing. It turns out like fabric - it is so soft. Then I cut out the design (very easy to do). I folded the brim of the hat up and that is like folding fabric also. Really very cool.
Someone at convention told me that if I would have continued to crimp it that the paper layers would have seperated. You could have stamped it with a paisley bacground, crimped until it seperated and folded it and put it in the pocket of pocket friends, like a bandana. I'm going to try that one next.

You can also get the CS to separate into 2 layers by crumpling it over & over. That's the technique I use for handkerchiefs hanging out of pockets. Stamp it with the little paisley from Fresh Fillers & punch with the 1-3/8" square & put in a pocket.
I think she was referring to glue dots...they are super sticky little dots of adhesive that are great for heavier embellishments and odd shaped things...
These are such great ideas! I'm so happy because I just placed my FIRST workshop order the other day (with ME as hostess, hahaha) and my main freebie thing was the crimper! I can't wait to try all these ideas!

Baby is great! He is just about as cute as he can be! I have to take some new pics and post them! You will not believe how he is growing! He is going to his two month check on the 22nd of this month and so I will know how fat he really is then! I need a massage on my back and arms he is getting so big already! LOL

Yes Nan, I have the star, heart, and the regular crimper. It depends on what cardstock/ pepr you usse for the shaped crimpers. I sometimes rip my paper as I turn it through the wheel.

Okay ~ I can hardly wait to get home and crimp a piece of paper a dozen or so times. That sounds so cool. It's a scary thing that that excites me.

Wow! What great ideas! I feel a crimping frenzy coming on! :lol: I have a couple of the patterned crimpers and the are fun to use but they seem to turn a little harder too. I'm a accessories junkie! As soon as I'm done here I'm going to go try some of these things! Thanks to everyone for sharing!
Help - I can't find the list of crimper uses on Keri's message either. And I was going to dig it out (the crimper) to use this evening. Can someone tell me how to find the attachment on Keri's message?? :(
