Default TLC125 - Tapestry of Life

When Beth (showmestamper) PM'd me and asked if I would like to guest hostess for the Technique Challenge this week, I was very excited and didn't hesitate before saying, "YES, I'd love to." Don't worry, Beth will be back next week after spending a few days with family, but in the meantime, I'm pleased to bring you TLC 125!

I'm posting this early because I get up for work EARLY (I mean really EARLY) and wasn't sure if I would have time to do it in the morning. I hope you don't mind!

This weeks challenge is using Beate's Tapestry Technique. Click HERE <----- to view the complete tutorial.

Using Craft (pigment) inks, sponges, and clear embossing powder, create a one-of-a-king background for some of those new stamps I'm certain you are dying to use! AND, if you don't have pigment inks, you can still do this technique. If using Classic (dye) inks, you will need to cover your project with Versa Mark (or equivalent) before sprinkling with embossing powder.

I've always enjoyed unique and stunning backgrounds using techniques learned from other creative crafters. This technique won't disappoint! Just like the tapestry of life which continues to be woven, the possibilities with this technique are endless and sure to get those creative juices flowing, so let's get busy!

Take a look at these examples:
Here's Mine
A Stunning Example by Cobrielle

So, break out those inks and let's see the creativity that is the Tapestry of Life. Upload your cards to the Technique Spotlight/Tapestry portion and don't forget to use keyword TLC125.

Click HERE to view all of the creations using this technique!
Enjoy!

My husband had to work late tonight, so I decided to stay up and do the challenge. This was a little tedious for me - the craft ink can get messy!
I love the "sparkle" the clear emboss gives the final product.
Thanks Lynn for a great challenge!

If you have other pigment inks (like colorbox), you can use those instead of craft ink.

First time for me, at first I didn't think I could do this one, but thanks to Beate's instructions and Lynn's tip I gave it a try. I used my classic ink pads, then let the white dry, used my versa mark on top and embossed, had to do this 3 times, but it worked. Hard to see on a scan, but looks really glossy. Here's mine:

Default My first technique challenge

This is the first time I've ever done the technique challenge. It was really fun to try something new, but like all new things, I'm going to have to practice. I used Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue craft inks because besides the white craft ink, they are the only two I own. I thought it might make a cute baby card. I used one of the stamps from Seeing Spots and it didn't show up to well, but you can kind of see it in the picture.

Here it is: TLC 125 by lisabingham at Splitcoaststampers

From the looks of the tutorial you might be able to use classic inks. The tutorial says if the ink is dry to stamp versamark over the entire image and then emboss. It is work try if you don't have craft inks.
