Link to eBay auction for Vases in Vogue hostess set removed.
This is just wrong. It can't possibly be in accordance with SU regulations is it? Sad thing is, there might be someone out there who would buy this from her.

I had half a mind to bid on it and then not pay...just so someone else didn't get suckered into paying that for it...then have my Mom do the same thing...LOL then my Aunt, you know, like a delay tactic :-)

Sucker born every minute - did you see the square step punch going for $55? LOL
omg no! Why do people charge that much? Honestly, all a person has to do if they want one is.... hello...have a party. Or if it's like a punch or something, call a Demo and order one. Things like that make it abundantly clear you have to be careful who you deal with in auction settings. She isn't supposed to be selling that set is she? Or is it ok bc it is a hostess set?

Well if this person is a regular joe whose demo loves them to pieces, and their demo gave them this stamp set for some reason, the regular joe can sell it on eBay if they don't want it any more. If a person loves this stamp set that much, they ought to go to CHF and get (asela's?) flower stamps instead for much less.

OMgoodness that is hilarious, I have stuck it in my watching folder just to see if it actually goes for that price, how horrendous

My investigative skills getting the best of me, I did a little search - looks to be a demo to me: I put in generic info for the city listed as where the seller was located on the SU demo search and lo and behold, I get a demo with an email starting with *removed*....same as the ebay seller.
If this is accurate, this is so not right for her to be doing this.
As for the bud basics, it was a mini set, so while not techincally retired when the mini ended, if someone didn't know that it was in the new catty, I could see them posting it as retired. I would still hope that anyone looking at this would keep on looking....or at least check to make sure it's really retired!

I think this is one that SU! would probably like to know about...looks a lot like a demo...but then, again, things aren't always as they appear. SU! would be the one to determine that. I sooo hope, though, that someone doesn't buy it...kinda ridiculous in any case.
I'm kinda wondering, though, how much I could get on the Bay for my stock of Cool Caribbean, ink pad and reinker;). (Kidding...really!)
Stampin Up probably has at least 1 staffer dedicated to this full time. Longaberger does.
There are 2 problems. There are TONS of SU and Longaberger auctions. Second, if the person isn't a consultant (or can't prove they are a consultant), and isn't using SU literature for pictures, but their own, then there is nothing to be done.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. This is America and people are free to ask whatever they want for their product. You are free to choose not to pay it.
If this is a demo selling these items she is in violation of her contract with SU. You can choose to report her or not, that's up to you.
I think everyone should be *really* careful about calling anyone else foolish or a sucker. Everyone's priorities and buget are different. Have I ever spent $150 on a stamp set? Nope. Would I if I loved it? Absolutely. I'm far from stupid or foolish. I just buy what I like.
As Mel said, if people would like to take the time to do research, similar sets can be found. Maybe some people don't want to bother doing the research and maybe there's a reason they want a specific set.
How many of you are sitting there with $40 underwear on? That's foolish to some people. How many hundreds (thousands?) of dollars in craft supplies do you have? My best friend thinks the whole stamping thing is a huge waste of money and time LOL she said why spend all that money on that crap when I can go buy a card for $4? But she thinks nothing of dropping $30 or more on a single lipstick, $200+ on a tiny bottle of perfume. I don't think she's stupid or a sucker.
I love Coach bags. I have a few. Well, I love matchy matchy (which is why I love SU) so DH will get me a wallet to go with the bag and I'll get the matching eyeglass holder or makeup case. A lot of people wouldn't spend $200 on a bag.
My point is, if someone wants something and is willing to pay why does that make them stupid/foolish/a sucker? I see it here all the time, looking down on people who have the money to spend on things or are willing to spend it, being annoyed at the people making the money(demo issues aside). Remember the $700 pages? I read a lot of this holier than thou attitude, well, what's she going to tell her kids, I BOUGHT the pages? WHO gives a crap what she tells her kids??? But then we complain when people don't value our work.
If someone walked in tomorrow and said I'll give you $25 for that spool of retired ribbon are you going to say, oh no, I would fee terrible profiting
I'd pay some serious cash for Petal Patch paper if I didn't have 4 packs stashed.
When we go around calling people ugly names for no reason, we're the ones who look stupid.
Just as we all have stamps sets we don't *get* but other people love, people will do things that we don't *get* Doesn't make them stupid any more than like that creepy fly fisherman does...

However, if you are a consultant, you may only sell retired items. You can't sell anything currently available. There are a lot of auctions for current items, too, and of course, items that aren't available to the public yet.
I try not to worry about it too much. Life is too short to get frustrated over it.
Yes. Well said. SO RIGHT !!! We need to be tolerant. (But we can still be shocked !)
ABSOLUTELY, I still can't believe those SB pages BUT when I talk about them, my attitude is always, good for her! I bet she busted her butt making those...
The ad will be removed before she can sell it i am sure its been reported several times. She appears to be a demo by the other things she had listed. I would never pay that for a stamp set. Thats over double what she paid for it. Funny tho there are people that will...
I just sent an "ask seller a question" message on ebay to the seller of the Bud Basic set asking if he/she was aware that this set was in the current catalog that came out today. Maybe he/she doesn't know? Maybe we should all do that if we see an item listed as retired that isn't.

I would be interested what they say, if they do reply. I asked them about a set before, and never got a reply.

I don't think they'll pull the auction, why would ebay do that? If it's a demo SU will drop her but I'm sure that kind of thing takes time. If it's reported it's probably not that hard for them to figure out.
Perhaps the auction won't be pulled but the demonstratorship will...?
that's what I'm thinking. If it's that blatant that someone on here figured it out already. SU will never say so in an email in response to anyone, they'll just handle it.
I'm happy to see our stuff go for such a high price, it just shows what a quality product we have
I do think people should follow the rules but I don't get worked up over it. Quick way to a heart attack, kwim? LOL
myhappyplace....I am sure you make very good points...but when you have McDreamy as your avatar it is hard to pay attention Just Kidding...I enjoyed your point of view...and your avatar
