So, for those of you that have seen the new catty. Do you love it or do you hate it or somewhere in the middle? Was it worth getting rid of all of the retired sets? Let us know!
I'm thrilled with some stuff, not so thrilled with others. As should be the case, really - I don't WANT to love everything - I don't have that much money!! I like the samples (for the most part) this year and have already CASEd two of the layouts!

I don't have my own copy yet, but had a reasonably good look at my demo's. Nothing in there to wow me. In fact, quite disappointing in many respects. But that is largely because my taste is timeless, not trendy. I can draw stick families as well as the 50 dollar set. Definitely not for me. There are a couple Christmas sets that reflected my taste, though. That will be my first purchase.
i am in between thoughts still i just got my copy today and have looked at it for a bit there are a few things that wowed me but nothing to pressing to get i was disappointed in a few things like the lack of good masq. sets. i think they should have had a better selection of those. but all in all i guess i will get used to it
At first I didn't like the linking of the accessories at the bottom of the page - but it's growing on me.
I don't like some of the layout changes. I'm not crazy about the pictures on the color family page - I know what a stamp pad and and re-inker look like.
On some of the pages, the way they have the stamp sets layed out with the lines dividing them is a little confusing.
I guess also I'm a little biased - I don't have kids and I don't scrapbook at all. It seems that the catty is more geared towards whimsical (kiddy) and more towards scrapbookers than card stampers.
I was looking forward to the new dog sets and they were both disappoint (IMHO) - too sketchy.
Oh well, maybe it will grow on me and as someone already said - maybe it will keep me from buying everything in the catalog.
Nothing WOW'ed me either in the new catty. There is lots of stuff that I really like, but I only see one set that I consider a "must have" for me. I also wished for a better dog and cat set. But I'm sure that people here will WOW me with the stuff that they make and convince me to buy sets that I'm not even interested in now ... that's what I love about SCS! All the designer paper is great though and I love the ribbon too.
I agree. I was so.. excited to get it. And now a little dissapointed. I have two girls and they disscontinued most of the girl set and there are no knew ones so I will have to buy else where. Not to many guy sets and not to many must haves. On the other hand I love the new flower kit and make your own brads. Love lots of the new ribbon!!!! So it's not all bad and as for stamps I will hope they put out new ones out in January.
Ack! That's what I get for missing my stamp camp this past Tuesday. The demo got hers so I wasn't able to gawk like I planned! So far, very interesting...
I think it's better than last year. (Most of what I purchased last year was from the mini catalogs). I have no young children and am NOT fond of the childlike drawings at all. I love the cowboy themed items and the more formal sets like Baroque and flowers. This being a winter catalog I had hoped to be blown away with new Christmas sets. Not the case:( And I don't need snowmen or snowflakes . . . I live in a warm climate!
The new colors have much potential just wish they had the markers to go with them and had included a lime green. Pattern paper is just beautiful but I really don't need more paper!
Split Coast will show me ways to use those sets that don't appeal to me now and make them "must haves" as time goes on. I will have to think a little harder before I purchase with the price increases.
Nothing really WOWed me either. There are a handful of stamps that I like but nothing I can't live without. I'm sure I'll change my mind after seeing everyone's cards.
I *wish* I wasn't wowed by anything. My problem is I love this catalog, it is very much my style, and I have an over $600. want list. IMO, this is the best one since I was introduced to SU 4 catalogs ago.

absolutely love it!!! The colour is gorgeous and the new sets are awesome!
I love that SU! has kept up with the trends in papercrafting...change is good and refreshing.
Overall I really liked it. My favorite things are the new colors and I liked how they put together the "style watch" section with 3 new trendy styles and colors. Also I liked how they changed the layout for the accessories, I thought it was easier to look at. Like others I am somewhat dissappointed in some the stamps... the "doodled" look is not that appealing to me. But there were some that were neat, can't wait to see how they are used here.
I have just completed my first run through of the catalogue, and have a wish list of >$750. I'll have to pace myself and order every 2 weeks to balance out my favorites. Some I may change my mind on, but not much I fear. I love the fact that the In-Colors have co-ordinating ribbon; I would love it if they had brads or eyelets to match. Lots of stamp sets I want - especially the Baroque one - mainly because of all the beautiful items uploaded to this site. I know as I follow more and more of the new additions to SCS, there may be the odd thing I need to add to my already huge list.
I am glad I was hooked 2 cattys ago. as this one would not have convinced me this was my dream hobby.
I also think, on my part, knowing that there will be another one 6 months from now has curbed my want list.
I would have a hard time making the committment to a lcub where I was committed to make a monthly purchase.
I love the layout, colours and new style (with a different font). I found the content and variety a bit disappointing. I was hoping for more sports oriented stamps (such as running), a different dog set (don't much like the new one) and find there are a lot more lettering sets that I won't use because I do most of my messages on the computer.
My main disappointment is in the pricing. I find they have increased the price in our Canadian version, when our dollar is so strong that they should have reduced the prices to be fair. Wish I were south of the border...

I like some of the new sets but was overly surprised that the simpy scrappin sets went from 12.95 to 19.95. Since I am a scrapper, that was one of the first things I checked out. I love some of them so I am sure I will still pay the 19.95.
Art is intended to provoke an emotion from a total stranger. If youve succeeded in this, consider yourself an artist. Paper Shanks Blog. Love me or hate me, you are still talking about me
Nothing really made me go WOW. There were a few sets that I will end up getting. I do like the fact that you can get ribbon to match the In Colors though. I much preferred previous cattys over this one. IMO
I was totally and completely unimpressed. I kept looking through, trying to find something I missed. I think I'm just on stamp overload. I'm glad to hear that some folks are thrilled with it. Maybe some of their enthusiasm will wear off.

I'm not too impressed, I'm sad to say. I thought there is a lot of repetition, for example, they seem to have a lot of sets that remind me of little pieces. I didn't love any of the Christmas sets. I don't like the child-like, cutsey stuff. I'm sad... but at least I won't be broke. And my husband is relieved that I'm not signing as a demo also ...
Even though I will really miss some of the retired sets I think it's a great new catalog. I like the style, the new in colors and I think this book is packed with creativity and inspiration.
Right now I am leaning heavy on the non-stamped items...there are so many awesome new ribbons, papers, brads, chipboard etc. that I could hardly breath when I first saw everything!!!
I will be doing some happy shopping this coming year ... well for the next 6 months for sure! Then we get to do this all over again!
Not real impressed with the overall catty; but that's just my taste. Lots of cute things. The catty's are seeming to gravitate more and more to scrapbooking, not a lot of classy type stamps either. But, as someone said earlier, when we see how some use the stamps then we will get "wowed" and find we may like them.
Here are the things I like about this catty:
1. The punches and the stamps that coordinate with them (especially the scallop and the Punch Pals set and the tab sets).
2. The Ribbon is now the same color name as the inks, so it's easier to coordinate, and in smaller quantities, so I can afford more colors.
3. The new brads and large eyelets are a definate purchase item for me!
4. Lots of patterned paper choices.
5. Love the related products at the bottom of the page and the tips.
6. Of Course, love all the samples! Much cuter cover than last year. I thought it was too "Grannyish" last year. (and I'm old enough to be one!)
Now the things I don't like:
1. I'm a scrapbooker and was hoping for some great journaling stamp sets, but there are none. Hated that they retired the Journaling sets a few years ago and still use them today. I went online today and found an array of very cute clear journaling sets and purchased them. Sure wish SU would get it together when it comes to us scrapbookers!
2. I'm shocked that the Doodle Alphabet did not make it into the catty. I could sell this set to almost all of my scrapbooking buddies. Don't think I'll be buying any of the alpha sets in this catty, since there are so many cute clear ones that are so much easier to use. I was really hoping maybe.........SU would go clear with their alphas. (they can still do the red rubber and mount them differently so they stick to acrylic blocks instead of wood blocks. That way you can form the whole word on the block, then stamp it.)
3. I have all of the cardstock colors in 12x12 size. If I want to buy only my favorite color, turquoise, in 12x12, I have to buy the variety pack of bold brights!! Don't like that at all!! I want options!!!
not a fan. I also keep looking through it for that I just gotta have it thing. I have not found it. Very much disappointed they got rid of soo much to bring this catty..... JMO!!!
Way too many flowers & circles. Sorely lacking: outline stamps (for stamping on patterned paper & watercoloring), fine detail stamps, fine art and collage type stamps, masculine type stamps, a VARIETY of styles. I only saw 2-3 must-have sets and will probably spend the next 6 months buying wheels (more than I usually do-I like them better than most sets), punches, ribbons, inks, & papers
Agh, this can't be!! I don't have the catalogue yet so I've gone through some of the galleries of those who don't like them, and most of their cards are my style! And I love outline stamps, fine detail stamps, fine art and collage type stamps (like Suki listed)! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Well, now that my expectations have been lowered, perhaps I won't be AS disappointed when I actually look through it.
The ribbon is more expensive for fewer yards! Not a great deal, or easier to get more of.
Also, whoever thought of putting the 12x12 in a multi pack is crazy. Who wants only 2 sheets of each color? I am mostly a scrapper (12x12 books) and this will really mess me up! I will really miss the 07 In Color Collection, and thought that some of the standard colors should have been replaced with some of the 07 colors (especially Marigold Morning, Buckaroo Blue, and Cranberry Crisp-actually I need all of them still).
Overall, I like a lot of the stamps, but the paper is what is really cute in this catalog. The level 3 Simply Scrappin kit seems like a rip off, the only extra in that one compared to the level 1 kit is 3 yards of ribbon. It is a cute kit though.
I got mine on wednesday so have had a few days to look it over. I have to say I didn't do the pee pee dance of joy over the sets either. Love the color combinations but ditto on the to much repetition with the dots and flowers. Such a big anticipation and then. . . . . . blah!!!
I would imagine once the cards start to be uploaded using the new sets everyone will get excited about some stamp set or embellishment that was totally uninspiring at first look. I know this happens to me every year!
