Post NewBe from the Netherlands

my name is Heidi, 33 years old and single mom.
stamping since Yentls birth in 1998.

hobbies : rubberstamping (no ...wrong, nog hobby! is an addiction!) , homebaking (bread and cakes) , emailing, having fun with Yentl.

Till 2 years ago, I did lots of stamping brands, but since then, I only allmost do Stampin'up!!!

about my work
I've been published in some items of the only Dutch Stampingmag. but they like moore noncute and scrapping. so I quit.
Further I've been stamper of the month at Art Impressions and won a contest there. was nice to do for once.
I also have made samples for websites of ArtImpressions, Maryse Carrier, Stampadream, Stempeltempel and Stampscapes.

My greatgreatgrandparents came from Belgium (1600 a.Chr.), and there's my last name from.... Den Dopper,.... and hold your breath: That means litterly : STAMPER... so I cannot help it. It is in my name and genes.

I guess my great great a.s.o. grandparents thought, we'd better go to the Netherlands, but that didn't work out. I'm the happiest stamper "dopper" in the family I guess ;)

So.... I am uploading all my work, but I'm not quite finished. so come back for those later !

Heidi, aka inktvingertjes

(which mean inky fingers in dutch)
as i NEVER have ink-less hands... (not even on a weddingday  )

Welkom, Heidi!

I visited a few friends in the Netherlands last Summer and I definitely want to go back! I need to pick up a Dutch-English dictionary next time. ;)

Seeing as you're a Dutch stamper...what do you think of Stampin' Up!'s Netherlands set?

Weltrusten!

Hello Heidi!

I loved your post. I have always had a great interest in the Netherlands. I too am a single mom. I have two boys, and my ancestors were also from Belgium! My name does NOT mean "stamper", however. I wonder what it *does* mean!

You sound like a real sweetheart and I am glad you joined SCS. You will love this place. I've made some forever friends through this site, and the stamping fun is... well... UNREAL!

I'm looking forward to "seeing" you around here!

Dear Heidi,
No, I didn't know about tulips & Turkey...my most recent learn about Turkey is that's where the OK-BASH dogs originate from--which are SUPER popular in the U.S. now for farmers that raise BOAR GOAT MEAT.
We're not into the Boar goats--yet!
Anytime you're inclined to send some DROSTE chocolate our way...!
God's best to you,

Welcome Heidi.. I'm not from Holland but my dad, his older sister and brothers and parents were from Groenigan (spelling is probably not correct). He is buried in Margratan (also probably mispelled) the National cemetary. Our name sure doesn't sound Dutch to me (Germain). Dd married a Van Drie. Don't know that much about my Dutch heritage and never had Dutch chocolate but I die for Banket..

Dear Judy ... "van" means "from" and "Drie" means "Three".
Your family comes frm Groningen. that is the part of the netherlands totally in the North East of the Netherlands, which has a border with North Germany.

I've never had Dutch chocolate but guess I'd best go check out the World Market store and see if they have any so I can try it. My favorite thing to eat is chocolate. I'm a chocoholic........
Checked out your site and want to say that you do FANTASTIC work. Would have commented on all your cards but my computer is old and VERY SLOW and didn't want to be up all night doing so. Keep on posting your work... and please explain some of your techniques you have used.

Welcome Heidi. I love your work. I don't post often as we live in Michigan in the middle of nowhere with dial up which is very slow. I have imported from a breeder in the Netherlands four wonderful Briards, the sweetest tempered French Sheep dogs you have ever met!

Heidi,
Where do you live? I used to live in Limburg province back in the 1970's. My father was stationed at a NATO base.

LOVE tulips, Bums bread, hagel slag, frites, frite sauce & Avro's TopPops.

Heidi,
I was there 1972-76 (age 11-15) and have visited your area.

SU Netherlands is on my wish list but has to wait until after I get the retiring sets I want/need/have to have.

Loved living in the Netherlands and learned so much. The Dutch people are truly unique & amazing & can teach the world a lot about tolerance & acceptance. I also admire how they have become modern but still keep & celebrate lots of stuff from the past. Although he is not Dutch, my father still wears his wooden shoes when he goes camping back in the woods - nothing keeps your feet as dry.

that is nice !!!
secret: I never wore original wooden shoes, only as a kid on the campingsite ! but... lots of farmers still do. (unfortunately we have not many farmers left)... and some men do... at home in their garden .

it is nice to hear you liked us
yes the netherlands are very tolerant.
personally...I feel like we all have to. everybody is equal, so we must be good to eachother and respect eachother ..
that makes all people happy.
so I am very tolerant to myself when It comes to SU ROFL !!!

I have a dream to visit USA... but that remains a dream.

Hi Heidi,

I actually just decided to go the this forum and saw that you are from the Netherlands. My grandparents came over to the US from Holland. They brought with them three children and had five more here in the states. My dad was second to the youngest, so he wasn't born in Holland, but three aunts and uncles were born there. My grandfather never did speak any english and my grandmother spoke very broken english. I could never understand anything either of them said. My dad and his brothers and sisters learned to speak dutch only because that's all they heard. I was so intrigued and wanted to learn, but my dad only taught me how to count. I have cousins over in Amsterdam and I used to write to them when I was growing up (now I am real grown up - I have two adult children and one adult grandchild). They never got to know my parents as my parents passed away 30 years ago, so they never go to know anything about the dutch heritage.

Anyway, I am glad that you are here on SCS. Welcome aboard!! I have seen your work and it is beautiful. This is such a neat way to get to meet other people. I have never been to Holland before, and will probably not get to go in my lifetime, but I have seen beautiful pictures. By the way, my dad and all of his siblings and my grandparents did wear wooden shoes over here. I thought that was just the neatest thing.

I will watch for more of your art work. Happy Stamping!!

Hi ! how nice to hear this story... I guess lots of people have dutch great grand parents over there ? lots of dutch people emigrated when economy was bad here last century. I do have nieces in Australia, for the same reason.
they just visited us after 30 years and I was so glad I recognized my own granny in one of them !!! my grandparents also have passed away, I am 33 and have a daughter of 6.
I have a close friend married to an american, and my biggest wish is to visit her in the US, but I don't think I ever will be able to. then I also have met a great writing friend in US. so my biggest dream is visit them both and take a lot of rubber home afterwards! keep on dreaming...
I am thinking of stamping all around some wooden shoes. but as it is rounded, I 'm not sure it will work.

Heidi,
Hello and Welcome. I saw your post and had to reply. I feel very linked to Holland. My parents were both born there and my husbands parents too. I am a first generation Canadian but would love to go to Holland one day and see some of the places my parents lived. My dad was born in Utrecht and my mom in a little town called Monster.
My maiden name is Wagensveld and my married name is Borgdorff (german name) but the family is from Holland way back to the 1700's.
Borgdorff- I think means something like warm house?
Wagensveld- wagen in the field?
I am very curious how you get SU stamps in Holland does someone send them to you or how??
Would you sign up as a demonstrator if SU have came to the Netherlands?
My in-laws just came back a couple of weeks ago they were there for the liberation celebrations and events.
Hope you enjoy it here on split coast and that you will be able to come to Canada or the US some time soon.

thanks for your warm welcome !
SU is for sale on ebay ! lucky europe :OD
I would love to be a demo, but it is not very worth here.
A party cannot be done, as they would all have to drive hours to visit eachother.
the netherlands count about 300 stampers, who live all over the country.
you are lucky if you find 2 persons in one town who know what stamping is about. most of dutch people think I am playing with child-disney-stamps from toystores, so they think I am a bit to feel sorry for LOL !!!!
o if they 'd ever see our work, they would think different !! won't they.
I'm so very sad, i won't make it overseas for a visit. I 'm a single mom in wellfair. and if I have sold my old books I use the money for SU. and not for a plane ticket... sorry !
:???:

Borgdorff- borg can mean "deposit" or "safe" / dorff is german for village.
Wagensveld- wagen in the field.... YES right !!!
