How do you cover chipboard?

I have a stoopid question, What is the best way to cover chipboard letter, tags, etc?
Do you glue paper on and then trim the edges?

I have been using the Tsukineko Essential Glue Pad and smearing that onto the chipboard. It makes it easy and gets an even application. Then I apply the paper to it. Use a bone folder to smooth it out and make sure you have no air bubbles. You can sand off the edges after that. Even an emery file would work. If you have chipboard pieces like flowers that has groove and things, the new Basic Grey Precision File Set is great for sanding into those tight, small spaces.

Ink them
Trace them, cut out designer paper and adhere
Stamp them.

i use ZIP DRY liquid glue to glue a sheet of DP onto the chipboard, THEN die cut it. or i trace the shape onto the DP and use, again (the BEST glue) ZIP DRY...

I use mono multi (if it goes into the scrapbook b/c acid free) or mod podge (for alterables)

Then I sand the sides.

After tracing the shape and cutting it out, I use the 3M Tacky Glue to adhere it to the chipboard. Then sand the edges with an emery board.

Trace and cut out with scissors...it's just like paper piecing then

Ooo. I like to cover my raw chipboard with Colorbox Cat's Eye Chalk Ink. This stuff is magical. Makes it look kinda suede-y. Especially if I use a slightly darker color on the edges!

you can , but the 'bug' pressure really sticks the paper down real wll

As I live in Bali,Indonesia, where there are no craftshops or lessons, can you please tell me what is chipboard. Is this were cartons for milk or cereals are made of?

It might not be exactly the same, but this is very similar, so I think you could use this. The stuff we can buy at craft stores here in the states is a bit thicker and more sturdy, but I think it's really like a thick cardboard. I had always saved the cardboard that came when I bought schoolbooks and paper packs and such and used that, but now we can buy chipboard everywhere. If you don't have a craft store, then I think this would be a great substitute for you!

This may be a stupid question, too! BUT, do you HAVE to use Craft ink, or can you use Classic ink?

Craft ink gives you better coverage since it is a lot wetter.

I'm sure Acrylic paints would work also. I'll try it and let you know.

I think they look great too with the Ranger Distress Crackle Paints on them for an old vintage look. After the crack paint is dry, I usually ink up with a light distress ink to age the cracks.

If it is a preformed shape, I usually trace onto DP and adhere with Zip dry or Tombow...making sure to get those edges! Then I sand/file the edges and usually ink up the edges to coordinate color or give an aged look depending on the look I am going for. If you are cutting the shape, I agree with those that glue paper first and then die cut both at the same time. The roll through the machine really gets the paper on there well. Good luck and have fun!
