There hasn't been a Michael's ad with coupon in my Sunday paper for at least a month. I signed up on their website to get it e-mailed but I haven't received anything and there was a flyer this week. Have they stoopped putting the ads in newspapers?
I got one yesterday too. Maybe you should go to your newspaper office and ask for a pack of ads. It's possible the "blowing machine" missed that ad in your paper!
I havent seen one here in NYC in months! I literally got tired of buying 2 different newspapers on saturdays and sundays just to see if they were in there..
I now go mostly to AC moore just because of that too, I can print their coupons off the web every day if I want to. I am so peeved with michales !!
You know how they always ask your zip code? I believe thats how they decide on how their ads go out. Do you get home delivery with your newspaper? Maybe someones swiping the ads out? I would call the newspaper.
I noticed you were in the greater chicagoland area.... I got a Michaels ad with coupon in the Sunday Chicago Tribune this week. There was a Joann's ad too!
I noticed that there is one every other week. However, I get two Sunday papers and either there was an assembly mistake or Michaels dropped some smaller papers as one of my papers did not have a flyer yesterday but the major paper had one. Also, for the first time, we got a Joann's flyer with some 50% off coupons!

One in my paper yesterday, too. Once the big holiday season is over, Michael's has coupons about once every three weeks. I've also been told they are considering no more coupons, just specific sale items each week, similar to HL.
I told my M's that I don't get ads any more and asked if I can just tell them I didn't get one when I get to the register to pay. So... I get there, tell them, then they just give me the discount. Ask about it! ;-)

I asked my Mikes about this not too long ago. she did mention that sometimes the ad comes out in our Wednesday paper (that's another big ad day). Could be the ad is coming out on a different day.
Have you checked online?? They list the ad for the specific store when you look at the locations near you. That's how I know if there's an ad each week.
Michaels' flyers in our local paper are sporadic also.
I signed up for the weekly ad (their description on the website) by e-mail, but that doesn't always come either, and it's rarely in my inbox on Sunday morning.
The week that Michaels clearanced the original Cricut for $139, I didn't get the e-mail flyer until Monday - the manager told me they were sold out by 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
It's annoying.

Why did she make things? Well, she enjoyed it, of course; it also somehow helped her remember who she was and where she came from.
I haven't had one for a couple weeks - I meant to check the online ad to see if there was one. I think sometimes it is in the other newspaper that we don't subscribe to.
There seems to be no rhyme nor reason half the time. I get our local daily and so does my mom. My mom also gets the Chicago Tribune. A couple of weeks ago, I got one in my local paper, and she got one in the Trib, but NOT her local paper!!! Makes no sense. I haven't spent any time with the Sunday paper, but I will have to check.
I can tell you why. It depends where I purchase a Sunday paper here in Kansas City. Does your Michael's ever ask for your zip code just before they ring you up at the counter? They do that for a reason. It is to track the customers for their adds. (This is what I was told by a Michael's manager--because I had the same question). There has to be a certain number of customers who patronize their stores from a certain area in order for the add to show up in the paper that is delivered in their area.
For instance, every time I purchased a Sunday paper in the area I live in KC, never had a Michael's add in it. However, if I went out of my way to another area of the city to purchase a paper, say near a Michael's store for instance, I found an add in the Sunday paper for Michael's.
I don't like it, but it is something between Michael's and the paper. I haven't had that problem with Joann's or Hobby Lobby. Just Michael's.
Anyway, that is what I found out about it--Jeannie
You won't believe what was in my paper yesterday. Not only the Michaels ad -- but three of them! Obviously, the paper man was NOT paying attention when he stuffed my paper!
I did receive a Mike's ad in the Sunday Milwaukee Journal yesterday.
BUT even better was a card from Michael's I got in the mail today for 50% off any product. It is the size of those 20% off coupons we alwys get from Bed, Bath and Beyond, There also was another coupon on the card for 50% off framing. I am not sure why I did get it, though I did some framing with them last fall. This is the first time I got a mailing from Micheal's. I am on Joann's mailing list and get those every other week.
Received a 40% off coupon in yesterday's Sunday Springfield IL paper. It is true also at our Michael's in Springfield that if you ask "Was there a coupon this week? I live in _____ and didn't get one." they will give you the discount without having the coupon.
Michaels does occassionally put the ad in the Wed. vs Sun. paper and isn't running an ad weekly. If you don't get home delivery and pick up your paper somewhere else (i.e., the grocery store) then check on-line at Michaels web site to see if they are even running an ad before purchasing a paper. Also from what I've understood they aren't sending out e-coupons or coupons any longer in the regular mail. Yes, the reason they ask for zip codes at the registar is to get ads delivered in certain regions.

What a difference of policy in San Diego. When you show your coupon they say, "Remember, you can use only one coupon per day per store and you must surrender a coupon cut out in it's entirety." Such a pleasant place to shop, huh. I gave a coupon one day that had a slighly ripped bar code. It worked but the clerk said "Lucky for you that worked as the manager doesn't like to be called to enter the code manually." I said lucky for her it worked as I would have walked out and she would have had to put all my mechandise back.

I used to get really stewed that the Michael's were excluded from our newspaper (we live 60 mi away from town that publishes paper) - I paid my $ for the stinking out of town/state paper, why don't I get the ads?
Then I discovered that Michaels ALWAYS accepts JoAnn coupons (face it - most times you can't use a JoAnn's coupon at JoAnns!!! ). Now I just save or print off extra JoAnn coupons when I know that I will be going to Mike's. Simple solution to a really annoying problem.
No mikes coupons in so cal for 3 weeks. They did, however, have acrylic stamps this weekend! Yahoooo!!!

Up until recently, I received all the Michael's ads/coupons on a regular basis in my newspaper, and then about a month ago, it just stopped.
I called Michael's customer service, and they do their advertising/coupon via paper distribution based on zip codes (ever wonder why they always ask for your zip code when you buy something there?). Based on their sales from certain zip codes will determine where they place their ads. I was told that unless it's during the holidays, ads are printed every-other week. If you go into your local Michael's when you know they have a coupon valid, just tell them you don't have a coupon and that the manager said you could just sign for it. They also ask for your zip code when using this method too, so they can see how many people are asking for coupons that don't have them.
I hope this helps explain some of the changes you might be seeing in your Michael's ads.
