I'm confused. I am just about ready to hit confirm for an order I'm placing on SU, but want to know more about the coluzzle. I can tell that it cuts different size circles and ovals, but what else can it do?
I've also seen many posts in the gallery that have scallop shapes, and I often notice that the coluzzle is listed as a tool. Can the coluzzle make scallops? If so, how? I don't understand how it would work.
I use my coluzzle to make an oval or circle to layer on top of the scallop punch out. A coluzzle was one of the items I put off buying, but was SO glad I did when I finally ordered it and used it.
You either really love the coluzzle or hate it. I love it but there are a few tips to help you get started. When you get your templates there is a thin plastic coating on both sides of them that need to be removed. It can only be used with the coluzzle mat(sort of like packing foam) and the blade works best if you hold the holder veriticle to the template and not on an angle as you would hold a pen.

The coluzzle is awesome! It does take a bit of a learning curve, but once you "get it," it is easy! There are so many different shapes and sizes, it is very portable and inexpensive! Can you tell I love my Coluzzle???

The coluzzle is much cheaper and I used it for several years before investing in the CM templates. I always hated having to make those little snips on each side since the coluzzle does not cut the entire shape.
I prefer the CM systems cutting system, I'm not a demo; however there are some colozzule tem[plates that are not available otherwise from other companies, but I don't think I would make much use of them but, I do have the llibrary pocket coluzzle system and that I use

I will have to gently disagree with this. The Coluzzle system has templates that cut out alphabets, pillow boxes, bookplates, tags, and many, many other cool shapes. The CM cutting system only cuts a handful of basic shapes.
I love my coluzzle templates and use them often, for both the inner and outer areas around my scallop punches, and for the other templates they have (square, 90 degree square, heart, tiny tags (love this one), and so many others!) well worth the money I spent. One blade lasted me for about a year, so very economical!

I, too, love my Coluzzle. I even have a paper doll template. Once you get good at it, it so convenient to cut on any part of a sheet of paper. I had a customer who cut tabs (they looked like SU slot punches) for a whole bingo card once. For me , it was so much easier than the CM system which I gave away to my daughter once I found the Coluzzle.

I have tried many different shape cutting systems and I much prefer my Coluzzle to anything else. For one thing, I can keep it all in one plastic folder...it's very portable. I can see exactly where I'm cutting. I found the CM cutting system very awkward to use and more money than I wanted to spend.
I colored all of the different rings on my nested templates with different color Sharpies; that makes it easy to figure out which channel to put the blade in when you are switching sides. Always put the blade in all the way and hold it straight up and down. Make sure the tip is pointing away from the direction you are cutting.

I also love my coluzzle. I have the rectangle, hexagon, star, a small flower, a rain drop. it is just so much fun!!! in fact i just uploaded some mini albums today, that i used the coluzzle for...check it out and see some of the shapes...the books are both 4 x 4...so that may give you an idea of how small some of the shapes can be cut.
I love the Chinese take-out box, the pillow boxes, the tiny cube boxes, the letters and the flowers, although I don't use them as much as the circles and ovals. I also have some of the scenery - beach, mountains and some of the themes - birthday and Christmas. Can you tell I love my Coluzzle???
Another Coluzzle lover here - I recently got the Stampendous Pocket Template which is so cute! I use my circles templates the most - perfect for altered can lids of all sizes.
I thought it would be difficult to use but it is so simple. I love the fact that ProvoCraft have information and videos on the website so you have access to proper instructions on how to use the system properly.
My LSS let me try the system out for myself so I got to see how easy it was before I purchased. Maybe you could try the same if your LSS has the Coluzzle system.
I use the coluzzle alphabet templates all the time - I actually bought the cuttlebug thinking I would like that better, I only used it 2-3 times and now I'm going to sell it - i just like the coluzzle better...
I am also a Coluzzle fan. I use it a lot - when I first bought it I had a little trouble, but a friend suggested that I stand up while cutting. I tried that and it worked. After a while I could do it while sitting, but the standing part helped me get on to holding the cutter blade upright.

I got most of my templates at Joann.com. I found it to be the cheapest and best variety and they are always on sale. but you can also do a web search for coluzzle. my web search brought up: crazyscraps and simplyscrap. I am sure there are more, just see what you can find and let me know if you find any more interesting things for the coluzzle
Wow - and I thought I had a lot (I have NO idea how many and I am not counting...) I love to collect (and use!) the Coluzzle templates!!!

I have outgrown my zipper binder - how do you fit over 100 in there??? I don;t store my little shadow ones in there - jist the larger ones. I don;t keep my cutting pads in tehre as I was afraid they would get squished! Oh, I counted and I have close to 80 pictured in my indexing binder (of course that counts a set of alphas, one per template!) and there may be some not yet pictured... I have been using this for quite a few years too!
I wanted to chime in that I adore coluzzle. So simple and easy to use! The only one I haven't liked was the file folder, so I sold it. The right angle corners took too much time, and I don't really use file folders anyhow.

I read a tip, I think it was on my Bookplates Coluzzle set, that recommended angling the knife handle forward more at the start of the cut, and backwards at the end of the cut, to make the ends of the cut lines much more closer together. I think they recommended this to make the scalloped bookplate less of a pain to use, but I've found it works well on all of my templates, especially my Pocket Card one to make the corners meet up so I don't have to cut out each corner twice.

Pleae forgive me...I don't kow how to start anew thread. I need to kow if anyone has done a contrast between the Score-It (sp?) and the scorPal. I know the latter is new, but hubby said he'll buy me whichever one I want if I hurry up and decide. I gotta act FAST. Thanks.

Interesting- as I've heard always to hold the knife perpendicular.
and lots of alphabet fonts, ornate frames... I have over 100 templates!
Wow thanks for the information on the scallops. I was patient and made the investment in some of the scalloped punches but I won't buy anymore and will try to get the Coluzzle templates. I do love them but do not like to have to snip those little tabs giving my shapes a not so smooth shape sometimes. :( Any advice on curing that would be helpful.

I am a *huge* fan of the Coluzzle, but not of their scalloped shapes; the angles are too tight for the blade to actually travel around, and you have to withdraw, and re-insert the blade to get around each scallop. :(
Then, you still have to snip what you weren't able to cut with the blade itself.

Ahhhh, thanks for the tip on the nubs. Also, thanks for the tip about the scallops. I was just getting ready to do an on-line search about finding the scalloped shapes. I'll hang out on that for a while.

You're right - not everything fits in my binder! I separated ALL my alphabets (stickers, templates, non SU stamps) into a separate PSB, including my shadow alpha. A few of the box templates are in a general templates binder. I had to add standard sheet protectors, since it became difficult to find the full page inserts.
The binder is H-E-A-V-Y but I only travel with what I'm using, so no worries! I noticed some of the stitching is unraveling - but I think that's my fault for cramming so much into it!
