Default Whats your fav SU set?

Hey,

I only have a couple of SU sets but am planning to get loads more.

Just wondered what is your fav SU set?

and the one you use the most...?

and which sets would you recommend for a beginner?

It depends on what type of style you like for your crafting needs. I primarily use them for cards and occassionally for scrapbooking. I love versitale sets. My first sets were Loads of Love and Loads of Love Accessories. Those sets cover several different occassions.

Since I make cards for mostly females, I love using flower sets. My favorites include Delight in Life (no longer available - NLA), Happy Harmony (NLA), All the Best, Petals Pushers, Simply Said, Watercolor Minis and Fresh Flowers. For senitments, I like All Year Cheer II & III, Sincere Salutations, Warm Words and All About U.

Your best bet is to look through the gallery and see all the different ideas to use these, or any other sets. This website is the reason for me owning most of my sets to begin with.

Have fun and get what you can afford, or if you are like me, you need everything now! It is a great hobby but it is VERY addicting and expensive!!!

Welcome to our world!!!

Roses in Winter and french script bg if you don't already own them.

You would need to buy them before the end of June as they are retiring. You can't make a bda card with RIW and there are lots of samples in the gallery. French script is a great background that goes well with so many styles of stamps, can't go wrong with it either.

Okay, for Christmas, my favorite is Frosty. The was the very first set I bought and I love it and use it every year. Favorite non-Christmas, Watercolor Garden. I love the size of the images and I have used almost every single one.

I am just starting and my SU lady helped me pick a few...
Warm Words and a few others.
I just made my moving cards with Frolicking Frogs... LOVE IT!
I would say that is my favorite.

I LOVE natural beauty, it is being retired at the end of June. It is sooo pretty. I also use sincere salutations all the time because it has a saying for pretty much every occasion. I also love lovely as a tree although I only have one stamp from the set (group of trees...I need to get the whole set) and wonderful words 1. And lots and lots of Background stamps my faves are: linen, french script, dots and daisies, print pattern) They just add the little "extra" to the card. Oh, and riveting (the hostess set) is also wonderful to work with.

I don't really know what my "favorite" sets are... but I am always grabbing Simply Said & Sweet Shapes for one stamp or another. I do totally love my Print Pattern BG.

The sets I love and will be current after July 1 are Warm Words, Happy Everything and In My Thoughts for words. Weathered and Linen for Backgrounds. I change images as often as I change shoes though. Depends on my mood and what events or holidays are heading my way. Right now I am NOT so patiently waiting for my new catty preview order. If you like an image check out the gallery and see what others have done with it.

Most of my faves are from the spring catty.... Big Blooms, Office Accoutrement, Polka Dots & Paisley, etc... but some I will never part with are French Script bg, Unfrogettable, Friends are like Flowers and my absolute fave... Flower Filled.

I've always felt like the odd man out as I have never liked Roses in Winter. I hate even saying it out loud but I just can't help it! Another keeper though is Heartfelt Thanks.

LOL- yeah I guess it's just not my style. I'm not a Bella fan either so I guess I just have a different style than a lot of the other girls here.

I use Lovely as a Tree over and over again. It is good for masculine, sympathy, and thinking of you cards. The other one that I use much more of the than I ever imagined is Cool Cat. I didn't like it when it first came out. I bought it for a specific project, and now I use it alot. It's just fun--put different hats, etc. Kids love it. Check out the gallery. I think what you choose depends on what you like, the type projects you do, and to whom they are for.

Recently one that I keep grabbing is Shore Thing a retired set from a past mini. I just love that set!

I think a great beginner set is Lovely as a Tree.

It's funny.... I loved the Bella's when they came out and bought a couple I thought suited me. But I have only made 2 cards with them.... I just get completely stuck on what to do with them. Now on the other hand when I got my Papertrey sets I just couldn't do enough with them.

I guess it's a good thing we're all individuals and have different tastes... otherwise all our work would look the same and get pretty darn boring.

My favorite set right now is Close as a Memory. I know it's a sympathy set, but those flowers are fabulous!! Combine it with Happy Everything and you can cover just about any occasion. Since Salutations is another great sentiment set.

I too, am not a fan of Roses in Winter. It is too froo-frooey for me! I do like the Bellas though. I just placed my first order last Friday and I am patiently awaiting their arrival.

I agree with the others, I forgot about Happy Everything, Polka Dots & Paisleys, Polka Dots & Petals, Canvas background and Weathered background. It's tough for me to remember my favorites when I have around 80 to 85 sets that I have acquired since winter 2006. Am I a complusive stamper or what?

I just sold a bunch on e-bay! My new catty fund

I have a few more I'm keeping because of the "just in case" thought going on in my mind. They'll probably end up on e-bay in six months though!

Default Doodles..

I must say I really like the Doodle this, Doodle that, and the Doodle Alphabet. They can be used on cards, gifts, and scrapbooking!!!
I like Happy Harmony (NLA) and Happy Everything.

Plus just about any snowman stampset!!

I think the three of us need to get together because I do the same thing too. I want a set and then it ends up on the bottom of the pile and finally moves to the e-bay pile. I have a neighbor who ends up buying them before I can even post them. It is so hard not to buy everything. Thankfully, I found SCS a couple of months ago and I can get some ideas to see if I really want a set. Then again, I always want it even more after viewing the gallery.

Like right now, I am battling myself over ordering Doodle This, Doodle That and the round tab punch before they are gone. I am also trying to decide if I want the Rich Regal spots, crayons and cardstock before the price increases. I have every other color family but that one. There's $140 right there! Plus a new catty coming! $$$ Ughh! $$$ Any input?

Just teasing. I think that was a tomato instead of an egg.

I'm not sure I can choose a favorite stamp set. Heartfelt Thanks, Paisley Background, Warm Words. Oh wait, I just thought of it...Easy Elegance! I love that set. Too bad it's retired. :(

Okay here's my input on those items:

I couldn't live without the RR color family... that is definatly my favorite so I would say go for it for sure before the price increase.

I'm also a big fan of the round tab punch. I think it is one of the punches I use more frequently than others (I have a TON of punches!). Forget-me-not vbmenu_register("postmenu_poster", true); posted an idea sheet of uses for it. I used it once to make a cupcake. I would definatly get that!!!

As for the doodles.... I LOVE that set, however I've had such a hard time using them. So IMO if your going to skip out on something I'd go with those.

Hope that helps a little :-D

BTW: You live in Wales, MA? I'm in Shrewsbury... we might be moving out your way sometime w/in a year... somewhere between Worcester & Springfield (but NOT in those two cities! LOL).

Wink

I PM'ed you.

Thanks for the input! I think you are right about the RR and the punch (I love punches too!!). I will hold off on the Doodle sets because I am so unsure. I guess I am placing another order with the old catty. I will double check the retired list just so I don't miss anything else. My demo will love me!

I am considering Crab and Co and Bubble Queen before they retire. Any thoughts on those? I really like the images, and I usually don't even buy rubber. I'd hate to never use them.

I really like Crab & Co, but I find it a little difficult to use. I've come up with some really cute cards from it, but it seems I throw away more than I produce with it... but I must say I am a TOTAL perfectionist, so that has a lot to do with it! LOL

As for Bubble Queen, love that set, bought it a while back because someone made a bath salt gift with it that I just LOVED!!! I have yet to use it though! LOL. The only reason it hasn't made it to my E-bay pile is I'm a demo and it's still current... oh and the hopes that I may use it to make the bath salt gift!
