Unmounting wheels
I am seriously considering unmounting my wheels and using them with an acrylic block. For those of you who have done this, does anyone regret doing it? I think I would use my wheels more if I did this, but I dont want to go to all the work if I wont use them more. Any opinions?

I do use them more. I just take one and slap it on a block and stamp. I don't have to find the handle and the cartidge, put it all together and hope and pray that it inks well all over. I have all of mine on EZmount and stuck to the glass in a picture frame that sits by my desk. I have 11 regular wheels and one jumbo on that picture frame. I don't think you will regret it.

I took mine off the wheels and don't regret it one bit. As Carol stated above, no hassles with the handles, cartridges etc., slap them on the acrylic block and easy peasy!! When mine were on the wheels all they did was collect dust, not anymore!

I think it really depends on how you use them. If it is mostly for cards, unmounting could make them easier to use. For me, I use mine mostly for gift bags, tissue paper, paper table clothes and napkins. Unmounting would make those projects impossibly time comsuming.

I have one wheel and I bought it with the idea of unmounting it. It is the hollyhock wheel. I love it. I just ordered 2 more wheels and will be doing the same thing to them.

I agree with Annette if I were doing that kind of work with my wheels I don't think I would have unmounted them. Since I'm not I just didn't want to buy all the colors/cartridges that I would need so my decision to unmount was easy. BTW they are super easy to unmount, just run your exacto knife down the seam and peal off. Go for it, or at least try one and see if you like it. You can save the wheel and always put it back on.

I buy some of the wheels specifically to cut them apart and make a bunch of stamps out of them.

Thanks for the suggestion on how to unmount these. I might consider buying one that I like and unmounting. Never even thought of that before!

Thanks ladies for all the answers! Now I just have to buy the EZ Mount and try it! I do think I will use them a lot more if I dont actually have to "wheel" them. I waste a lot of cardstock getting them to come out properly, even using my wheel guide ... so I think I'll give it a shot!

It is awesome to work with the flat wheels! So easy to place them where you want and have perfect control of them! Best thing you can do, unmount them!

Can anyone tell me what size acrylic block you would need for an unmounted wheel?

Here's my tutorial on this
http://inkydinkydoo.blogspot.com/200...-tutorial.html
If you go down to step #11 there's the link for Sunday International and the block I use. It fits both the jumbo and the regular size
And let me tell you, I don't regret my decision AT ALL I actually USE my wheels now rather than look at them!
