Default cuttlebug! i did it again!

i keep telling myself that i want a BUG and i see all the great cards everyone is making with them...

and i go to the store- coupon in hand. and talk myself out of it!!!

i have done this about 3 times now!

the money thing keeps running thru my mind!!! $50+ for the bug and then $6-15 for each folder/die...

honestly now people!!! i know i will never see a return in funds for this 'tool' but how much do you REALLY use it?!

please be honest...

is it a must have or

what was i thinking

I think it is a must have. I do both scrapbooking and cards and use it for both. I use the embossing folders quite a bit for cards and I use the circle and square dies alot for cards too since I don't have those punches.

It't best to stock up on the dies and folders that you want when they are 40% off at Michaels or Joann's. The only dies that I find too expensive (even when on sale) are the alpha ones. I only have one set, but I do use it alot for scrapbooking.

I did the same thing. Talked myself out of getting one over and over -- a couple of times with my DH standing right there telling me I should buy one. Finally, I just bought one. ACM had everything on sale and I took the plunge. I haven't looked back since. I LOVE the darned thing. The A2 embossing folders are the coolest thing going, and I just love being able to cut chipboard and other materials with the dies. I consider my Cuttlebug a must have, and I'm not sure how I lived without!

Oh, and if anyone needs some friendly enabling, I was at AC Moore tonight, and Cuttlebug products are 40% off.

You should get it. Once you try it, you will be hooked! It is totally something that you should invest in. They have so many dies, embossing folders, etc. You should buy one or two embossing folders and give it a try! I know that Michael's has a 40% coupon for this weekend and so does Joanne's with a 10% off total purchase. I don't think that you will regret it once you get it! GO FOR IT!

Wow I applaud you for having soooo strong willpower! For me, I'm just horrible when it comes to willpower of not buying... Whenever something catches my eyes, I just get on it like white on rice. And I'd suffer from DH yellin at me lol... it's a vicious cycle for me lol.

I normally bypass the 'big' tools because I don't have room on my desk and I don't use them once the newness wears off. But, I use the CB all the time. Absolutely love it. It really makes super quick, professional looking card fronts, is easy, and doesn't take up a lot of room.

I am really getting alot of use from my bug.

Coupon eased the pain, moneywise, and I wait for a sale on the dies and folders.

I ***Heart****my Cuttlebug. It's the only 'big' tool I have!

I am a tool junkie - but this little thing is TOO cool.

I have never done die cuts and still haven't - but I LOVE the embossing folders - and just picked up a bunch on sale at Michael's for $2.99 each!!

My Cuttlebug made stamping FUN again! Now I have a hard time making a card without it...I'm always wanting to stick something I CB'd on every card!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Cuttlebug and can't live without it. I got mine back in January and still use it all the time!! I think it's a definite must have -- you don't need to buy everything right away... keep adding to your collection using the 40% and 50% coupons.

I LOVE my CB! It's definitely a must have. I use it every single time I sit down to scrap or make cards -- it's made me love my dies again (and buy more!) since I can use all my dies with it, not just CB dies. Buy one -- you deserve it!!

I love mine and use it all the time. It makes quick and easy cards that look terrific. And for someone who use to dry emboss the old fashion way with light box, etc. this is instant in comparision to the time. What is the cost of a light box(?) about half the price of the cuttlebug, and cuttlebug uses no electricity! Hope this helps convince you that you NEED one!!

I don't jump on every new thing that stampin/scraping offers afterall not all of us can afford to, but I'd have to say I LOVE my 'bug. I asked for it for Christmas and my husband & three sons think its pretty cool.

I just pick up embossing folders when I'm able to use a coupon. Embossing is my favorite thing the bug does, but I have a few alphas and they're pretty neat too!!!

Go ahead pick one up, you'll be pleasantly surprised how much you use it and enjoy it.

Keep us posted!!!!

I had no willpower and bought one as soon as I had a 50% off coupon. I do not regret it AT ALL. I use it all the time. Friends and family come and use it too. I have not paid full price for any of the dies or folders I bought. I always wait for a sale or use a coupon. I think it is great!

I am in the same situation like bluelemon, post # 13. I am in Germany and we have the Cuttlebug here- lucky me! But you dont wanna know what I paid for it here - even more than twice the $ 50!!! It wasnt to bad for me because I sold my Quickutz on ebay before I got the Cuttlebug!
So get it, its much fun!

Do you have any other die cut machine right now? I have the Sizzix Big Shot and I can use the cuttlebug dies and embossing folders in it. I do love their selection!!

I must agree with everyone here. I love it. I had no other die cutting or embossing thing. I saw how easy it was to use, and bought it for myself (for my family) for Mother's Day with a 50? off coupon. Just the other day Joann had the folders on sale for 3.99 with free shipping! It is soooooo easy and fun.
GET ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in the same boat with you - I've set out to get it on more than one occasion (just this week, in fact) and then said no!! And my dh would LOVE to buy me one for our anniversary next month (I think he figures it'll get him off the hook for having to pick out something nice for me, lol).

Mine is more of a space issue - not enough place to store all these stamps and tools. I have a brand new Xyron that I HAD TO HAVE a few months ago and it hasn't even made it out of the box yet. I know I'd love it, just haven't had the desire to tackle the "how to" part yet.

But, after reading this thread and how much y'all love yours, ...hmmm, where DID I put that Michael's coupon???

I was in the same boat. I tried my hardest to refrain. I already have the Wizard and have loved it all along because of all the things it can do. I really didn't think I should splurge for a second die cutting system...but...
I'm really not sure what happened when I got the CBug. I had it up on the screen, my CC put in and hit "order" before I knew what happened!!
It didn't hit me until the package arrived and I thought "oh, my! what have I done!" Then DH walked up and said "don't you already have something that does the very same thing?" I was feeling a bit sheepish until I got it down in the stamp room to play. After the first piece of embossed paper I have had not one regret!! I can use my Sizzix, Sizzlet, and Wizard dies in it, I love how easy it is to crank (in a circle as opposed to the cranking back and forth on the Wizard) and those embossing folders are to die for!! I LOVE THEM!!
If someone walked into my stamp room today and said...one of 'em's gotta go...I would happily turn over my Wizard and keep the CuttleBug!

I really like mine! The folders and dies are adorable and you can use the dies from any system! The fact that a handle comes out of the top so you can carry it like a purse is just an added bonus! GET IT!!

The prices on these things are starting to drop! Roberts here in Utah just had them for $38.99 this week on sale and their regular price has dropped to $64.99. And the alphabet dies that were $79.99 are now $44.99. These are before coupon prices. If you've waited this long, you might want to wait a few more weeks until the price goes down where you live too.

And.... buy your alphabets on eBay. I've bought seven alphabets from various sellers:

$13.00 Baby Face
$14.50 Fancy Pants
$15.55 Curls & Swirls
$19.99 You're Not the Boss of Me
$19.99 Typewriter
$19.99 Olivia
$31.00 Red Tag Sale

Also, a good seller is Oh My Crafts. I've bought a lot of folders from them. Most of their auctions have free shipping AND the price is good. I definitely feel like I come out ahead because I'm not wasting my gas to get to the store. ;)

Okay, I'm going against the grain here and saying NO, it is NOT a "MUST have". Yes, there are ton of things you can do with it, and it would be a really NICE tool to have. Can you still do great work without it? You already are! I'm not sayiing don't get it, or that you shouldn't, but something is holding you back right now. Maybe it just isn't the right time yet. Think about it and go get it when YOU feel comfortable spending the extra to get one. I'm sure you'll love it when you do, but I'm also quite sure you can live without it until that day.

I guess I'm not much of an enabler! I just think you do what you are comfortable with right now. Another idea, if you aren't quite ready to jump in and buy the whole shebang right now, you could start gradually picking up different dies that you want and spread out the cost a bit until you are ready to buy the bug itself. Then, once you pick it up, you are stocked up & ready to go.

I think you would love it..
I too talked myself out of it for awhile, but then I started having weird dreams about it, and shortly after found it 50% off, so I bought it. it is great fun, love the new dies and folders, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to use.

I paid $48 for it and used a $50 gift card so it was great. It was $79.99 then I had a 40 percent off coupon. Got the last one at my store ... have had SO MUCH FUN relaxing and cutting... and embossing. Can't wait to get more embossing folders!

After you buy your bug (or I guess even before!) check out allthatscraps.com. Free shipping if you spend $10. Who can't spend $10???? :-) I buy most of my folders from her, 'cause they're in stock, and it's cheaper than gas for my Suburban. LOL
